Not the same game. this was the discarded 1st version. the actual game that released is completly seperate on every level.

If I remember correctly, they wanted to do MW5, but decided to turn it into an online game instead. Hence MWO. They did picked up MW5 years later.

I know this comment was 3 months ago. But this is kind of a thing that I have to correct the record on. Now MWO is a disaster. Not gonna defend it. But that came about so the developers could have a steady income source to keep afloat after working on DNF's multiplayer and console ports. which didn't net them that much money despite DNF selling well (Also not a good game but the hype for it at release in 2011 was insane).

Hypastpist None of the games have been able to implement the melee abilities that the mechs have in Battletech. Trust me, you don't want a 100 ton mech punching you. That thing is devastating if it lands a punch in Battletech.

you're mixing this up with mechwarrior online, which is its own thing. mw5 will be focusing on singleplayer and is still in development.

The game was actually canceled because there was a copyright dispute between battletech and another Japanese mech thing where the main mech you see in the trailer looked too much like a mech from the Japanese one so they got sued for it and had to cancel the game but the copyright is now over and they are able to make this game again so mechwarrior 5 is now in development and it looks really good so far plus it's a single player game so no more 500 dollar golden mechs

We wouldnt have that kind of graphic anyway, even now the destruction on building couldnt be so nicely done so having that way back in 2014... Hope the new mechwarrior 5 will be good :/

@@TehButterflyEffect Yes, he did. Mr. Stackpole is apparently a very prolific writer in the sci-fi franchises. My first Stackpole book was Wedge's Gamble. Then I heard the term Stackpoling amongst the BT community and had the same question as you. And apparently, Mr. Stackpole is also among the creators of the Wasteland computer games.

MW5 was complete fucking disaster, from map design, to campaign to voice acting to animations to AI, fucking everything is terrible. I cant believe PGI managed to make a worse game than MWO, how the fuck?!?!

No those are machine guns. There are three barrels on each side torso, one being a machine gun, one being a small laser and the other being a medium laser. Look at some older art of the Warhammer and you’ll see it’s the same.

Yea, it would be cool if they did a Warframe like coop system with the normal allies replaced with friends when they join. there was a Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries coop mod made that worked pretty well and it would be great if they did it for Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries as well.

He missed a few shots since his Mech did not have the advance Gyros which caused him to miss with the PPC's while taking damage, but he did manage to put a beating on the Atlas tho.

there are no advanced gyros... And PPCs do have a minimum range to them

PPC's are also not good at close range. The pilot still had that drone tooling about and could have easily backed off and tried to engage at range.

it will come out a4 2018. check out "mechwarrior 5 mercenaries". if you'r wondering, this (what you see in this video) was developed on unreal engine 3, bud sadly harmony fucking gold issued some copy right blabla against pgi for using the warhammer mech because it looks too similar to a robotech whateverest. so mechwarrior 5 got cancelled, and instead a f2p online 8v8 mech shooter was developed on cryengine 3... mechwarrior online. later it got changed to 12v12 which was a total mistake imho. the game fumbled around with only a few patches here and there, only 1-2 maps and a couple of new mechs... but after 2 years pgi (the dev) bought out the publishing rights from igp (the former publisher) and started to publish themselves. it went uphill from there. i mean.. a very rocky uphill road, but it got better. we got a plethora of new mechs, we got the clan invasion which introduced clan battle mechs, clan omnimechs and of course clantech. later we progressed in the time period from 3050 to ehm... 3069? so we got lots of new toys to play with like u-ac 2,10 and 20. r-ac 2 and 5, mrm 10,20,30 and 40's. fucking one shot rocket launchers. clans got micro lasers, atm's and what not. we got multiple new maps and the old ones got a renewal update. so much shit got changed... mostly for the better. is it fun? yes. would i recommend it? yes. but except your typical f2p grind if you dont wanna spend any money. what is really good about mwo is that there arent any real p2w meachanics. now from the money they gathered from mw:o they gathered a bigger team and all that and are now developing mw5 mercenaries. a single player game set in 3015 with 1-4 player coop... but on unreal engine 4. with mod support via steam workshop. so you can be cautiosly hyped :) (im personally not a big fan of cry engine used for mp games. but oh well. it works xD)

+Stuffy Junk the reason mechwarrior 5 was canceled was because the mech that they are piloting in this gameplay has some problem with it because of a copy right with another company because it looked to similar to some other robot from some japanese tv show and im not sure this game was every intended for consoles since the last 4 were not and mechwarrior online the replacement for mechwarrior 5 is a pc only game and they have had plenty of time to release mechwarrior online on xbox one and ps4 since they came out the same year but if you have a good pc i recommend mechwarrior online i play it and its a lot of fun the only thing i do miss was the way mechwarrior 4 mercs was where you picked systems to fly to and what missions and mechs you used and managed your money i wish they would make another mechwarrior game using the same engine and stuff that they have for mechwarrior online and make a single player and charge $30 or 60 if its good enough

MustachedChaos can you blame them though? Literally all of the mechs from Macross/Robotech were ripped off by FASA when they made Battletech. They should have reached a settlement years ago, instead they continue to drag this legal battle on for decades for whatever reason.

***** That's because PGI aka Jarhead Games aka Rabbit Hole Interactive (ect the list goes on and on) is a bait and switch company that has always done business by cheating their clients or investors, so no competent investors were willing to actually give them any money. If a reputable developer had come knocking perhaps there would have been a viable possibility of getting funding for MechWarrior 5.

***** Good thing someone knows his stuff. Thus the reason the Marauder and Warhammer are never likely to appear in MWO. Same reason I can't find a marauder package for Battletech without buying a preowned model. Good thing Robotech models are the same size for the game.

But that doesn't stop people from going WAAAAAH MW5 COULDA LOOKED LIKE THIS because they don't understand there's no way this was live from in-engine.

@@angrytigermpc It's pretty clearly a cutscene, yes, but it kinda feels like it's built on top of a replay file. The animations have fairly clear stops and starts typical of walking animations in the series, and hell, at 1:42 I can just about see the Warhammer brushing against the building with the typical "slide along its wall" effect seen in most FPS games. Also, when this cutscene promises weighty, clumsy mechs, and immense weapon knockback (see Warhammer's aim going everywhere but the Atlas), is it really so hard to stretch this cutscene into a sort of animated design document? A romanticization of what city fighting in the final product was meant to look like? For sure I haven't felt my aim deviating by a single milliradian in MWO no matter how many AC/20s I eat to the face, and footage of MW5 Mercs seems no different.

This wasn't microsoft. This was Smith and Tinker one of Jordan Weissmans companies that purchased the Battletech IP from microsoft.

Jebbis I did not know that, but still... anybody making any Battletech games (video or otherwise) needs to learn what the Unseen are, and why they're called "Unseen" and stay the fuck away from showing them. Can't even have them in the game. It is real world, legit illegal to show them because they were ripped off from other IPs without license, or the license expired and was not or could not be renewed.

And if you look on the BattleTech forums or on MWO the problem has been solved, though the tabletop versions of the Warhammer and Marauder look much better than the original unseen versions and pretty close to the original unseen art
