"M'Lord, the men need orders!" "Shhh. I'm watching this Spearman fight those two Peasants." "But...M'Lord, the Cavalry is being torn apart and the Archers are-" "SHUSH."
Then you're like "Who told the catapult crew to fight the Welsh longbowmen?! WHICH FOOL- I will seperate your head and neck from their loving relationship........ oh.... it's me......FUUUC-
That moment when the enemy outnumbers 3:1 You only have a few heavy infantry units, some archers, and a unit of militia. "Either divine intervention from the almighty or a military genius can win this battle"
I've beaten 1,150 Men with 450 Heavy Cav, suffering 100 losses and stack wiping the French invaders as England, the one with weaker cav. Pretty good if I do say so myself.
Nothing hurt more , than cavlary hit iron made soldiers and you take loses - they are on mine field iron , or wathever spearmens - MY KING IS QUEEN ON CHESS !
It is easy to become comfortable with the enemy you know, our familiar foes. But to discount the menaces that lurk beyond the known world is to risk a rude awakening that can become a nightmare. This nightmare is the Mongol invasion.
Tenger Oh yes! I fucking love that cutscene. I still remember seeing it for the first time and being amazed and terrifyed at the same time. The music fit so well to it too! The mongol hordes are coming to fuck your shit up!

It's for those times... The infantry has been slugging it out in the battle line for a 45 minutes now. The terrified pacifist conscripted by the King tries to run, as his comrades scorn him for breaking the battle line. Both sides are tired. A decisive cavalry charge could win it for both sides.... The King screams, "DO NOT ROUT, GOD IS WITH US! UAAA-AGHUUU!!" The King has been hit. Despite that the two sides fight on.... but it is but a matter of time...
French was the most powerful terrestrial army during the Middle Age, they're both good at romance and fight... Except to be unite. 1/10 - IGN : Too much garrisons and independant republics
It's turning into basic patriotism now ! It's not Napoleon's fault if his commander at Waterloo was eating some whacky stuff instead of prevent the british attack I'm leaving you here, I don't want to fight with you good bye peace
+LOLISM NAS I dunno, I always considered France one of the strongest and best European countries throughout most of it's history, and I know you mentioned like most people do their apparent shortcomings in the modern era but I would disagree, in WW1 they did fine and in WW2 it was Germany's skill rather than France's lack thereof that counted, let's be fair they stomped over all of their neighbours equally. They still managed to amass one of the largest empires both overseas and on land, at least for a while, and their army in the roughly 17th to 19th Century was arguably the best, while Britain's focus was more it's Royal Navy. They were successful in the Thirty Years' War, decisively beat the First and Second Coalition, was one of the first nations to modernise its army in the wake of the Revolution, and they of course reached their peak in the Napoleonic Era. Today they're still one of the Great Powers (and they always have been considered one as well) what with them having nukes, a veto seat on the UNSC and one of the larger militaries around.
You might be losing the battle, outnumbered 4:1, and have lost your most important units... but then this music comes on and you scream to the monitor at the enemy: COME ON YOU SONS A BITCHES! IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO?!
If I’m going down, I’m making sure I’ll take as many of you down with me!! Results *Crushing Defeat Enemy gets Pyrrhic Victory and gets annihilated 5 turns later
This is that middle-of-the-engagement fight. It's really uncertain whose gonna win this one. Both of those center lines have been slugging it out for some time now and they're both getting tired. It's only a matter of time...
Recent English playthrough with SS 6.4, took Tripoli (Libya - I forget the actual name of the settlement) after the game's first crusade ended. Withdrew all my troops back to Europe and the French war except general, two crusader foot knights, crusader sergeants, three levy archers and a unit of peasants. Next thing you know, Fatimids roll up with close to a full stack of mainly urban militia, some African mercs. Took a couple tries, but managed to position my troops around the city properly to take account of chokepoints near the keep. Managed to break them all, then unleashed my general to run them down. Heroic victory.
If this song plays, it means that you have a 180 heart beats per minute, your hands are wet, all your muscles are under tension. You still can't predict the outcome.
How to be saved from hell the Bible way to heaven, Good Hope. There, now you can die valiantly in combat and know your saved, once saved always saved. Believe on Jesus Christ, Good Hope can explain. Hope you have a good day.
@@nukacolacompany2534 do you remember a line that I forgot how it goes but something similar like “my liege it would be foolish to judge the day before/by the dawn but it appears as though victory is certain!” I’m extrapolating some wordings but it was something about foolish to judge the day by/before something *i think* Thanks if you can lol
I just want a Medieval 2 remake. Like, very few adjustments to actual gameplay, but some shiny new graphics, a few feature additions perhaps and some better AI and done. The perfect game. Edit: Holy shit I didn’t even realise this comment was 13 years old. My point still stands though.
The holy Bible may preach peace, but when it is Christendom itself that is threatened, then it is every Christians duty to defend all that is Holy. His Holiness, the pope has called a crusade to reclaim the holy lands from the infidel, who would deny Christian pilgrims their right to visit the holy places. It is time for the armies of Christendom to put aside their differences and unite under one banner, the sign of the cross and give back Gods children what is rightfully theirs, or die trying!
I once sent one of my best Assassins to kill the Pope as retaliation. Not only did he kill the Pope, he killed six subsequent Popes, one after another, each turn. I bet that gave the Catholic Church something to think about.
Death dami28 Another insightful comment from the proud Islamophobia community. Why don't you run along before you hurt your head arguing with people on the internet.
+al Mamlūk I think he was in character, by that i mean he was pretending to be a Christian Soldier in the Middle Ages, and was threatening you, as you had killed six of his Spiritual leaders. :D
Ah the Crusades. My favourite section in history and in this game. I can't wait till Medieval 3! ^.^ I'll upgrade my PC and even get a new one just to play that!
In nomine patris et filii et spiritus sancti nos suadebimus! In nómine Jesu Christi in coelum veniat! In the name of the father, son and the holy spirit will be prevail! In the name of Jesus Christ we will reach heaven! Just got inspired from the good old times playing medieval II total war :D
I just see it as the defining moments when my flank is completed with success, the routs are beginning to show amongst their ranks. And then, by the time this song is done, so are they.
Half of this song is you engaging your your nemesis and defeating him in battle. The other half is you chasing him down to kill him after he flees bc if he gets away he will come back with an army twice as large
Yeah, and the thing that hassles most is the time remaining. You got to have the temper to make a strategy, make it work successfully with the less losses as possible, all within the time limit
"Our enemies are stupid as goats! If they had any wit - they would be running!" Said my Egyptian general on the head of a 3k army facing a 2,800 men strong Mongolian army trying to take Edessa...
This inspires me to do one of those kills on the battlefield: 1.Break his guard 2.Stab in the stomache by turning with my back on him. 3.Turn to him by rising my sword up and sticking it into his chest
Dad walks into the room Dad: Oh wow your listening to classical music eh? Me: Oh no im listening to Total War music! Dad gets concerned look on his face
@EmperorHarold empire is awesome! for the first few days... rome is amazing! for the many of the first weeks... medieval 2 is brilliant! for a long time! :P
@EmperorHarold I totally agree. Medieval II Total War must be my favorite Total War game. I have both empire and napoleon, but i was disappointed in those. M2TW is still my game of choice
i usually keep my calvary in the town square to guard, and place my ifantry next to the gates, but not 2 close so that artillary fire can hit them, or the wall will colapse on them, if i start to loose the ifantry fight i use calvary charges, and FYI be careful with archers on walls because they can be killed easily by cannons
***** I find it best to group up at the gate, position heavy archers on the walls and have them fire regular arrows, not the flaming ones. Have heavy infantry at the ready to support the archers if the enemy bring ladders to the walls. Keep mostly spearmen at the walls. This is my generic defence. Of course it depends on what the enemy is bringing, if they bring siege weapons, like catapults, I send all my cavalry out at the beginning and try to kill it, then have the remnants of those cavalry units hide outside, while the enemy army moves on my city/castle. IF the enemy army consists of mostly heavy infantry, I try to do the same with the cavalry to reduce their numbers before they get in as I tend to create more spearmen than heavy infantry.
