I remember I played this as a kid. I was so proud and excited that I was able to get to the final boss but then he didn't take any damage at all and I was so disappointed that I never defeated him. Now about 25 years later I wanted to see what kind of genius battle strategy and expert skill this boss needed to be defeated... bubbles? FFS! BUBBLES?!?!?!?! 25 F**KING YEARS!
@@MegaBubble After spamming Metal Blades, Quick Boomerangs, Atomic Fire and Crash Bombs I didn't think some cute little bubbles would do any better. I just decided to quit and accept my defeat.
i just downloaded the virtual console via homebrew and tried every weapon and defeated him & i wanted to check for sure i had to use the bubblesuit, low and behold i was right, just wow
the fact that the weakness is bubbles makes sense, since its revealed to be a hologram, and its obvious electric items, like well, holographic displays, arent very good against water
I REMEMBER PLAYING THIS AS A KID BACK THEN ON THE SNES! IT WAS SO HARD, HOW COULD ANYONE BEAT THE FIRST MEGA MAN, LET ALONE THIS ONE! THANK GOD, CAPCOM ADDED THE REWIND BUTTON ON THE LEGACY COLLECTION! OTHERWISE, I WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO BEAT THE FIRST MEGA MAN GAME!
Am I evil for playing this game at my friend's house, getting close to the end of the fight, then cranking up the volume just so everyone can hear that awful sound at the end?
I couldn't figure it out after two continues and I thought "what if it's bubbles like in the movie Signs but with water" but I said to myself "no, no way!" And now I come here and want to absolutely break something.
I remember the first time I came across this Boss. I had completed the previous zone thinking it was the final one and once I did I put the controller down and was about to go do something else until the screen for a new level appeared. I went back as fast as I could and extremely confused I was going to control to continue playing and once I got to the end of the area Dr.Willy appears out of nowhere and turns into an Alien. The 14 year old me was totally baffled and I didn't know how to beat him since I couldn't find any videos about him on RU-vid so I thought it was a secret level that I had just unlocked somehow (I still don't know how I didn't find any videos about this on RU-vid). I took this Boss lightly but little by little he cost me more and I was running out of lives until it occurred to me to throw bubbles at him and that's when I defeated him. I didn't remember when Willy revealed that it was all an illusion but in Ending it remained engraved in my memory to this day. Thank you for so much Megaman 2.
Yes. To beat the Alien with barely any bubbles, you have to have at least 14 units of Bubble Lead, which is exactly half your weapon energy bar. Any less than that is not enough to defeat the boss, forcing a game over. With that said, it's best to have a full bar of Bubble Lead for extra insurance. 😉
30 years later and I’m still disappointed that Wily didn’t actually levitate and turn into an alien. It was just a little flying prop he was secretly controlling. Lamest final boss for what everyone considers one of the best Mega Man games of all time. My soul hurts as I’ve just opened up old wounds watching this, and I’m ready to do some heavy drinking.
Hate when they make the game over much harder then the final boss. I remember in Sonic Heros i played 4 stories different difficulty and get Emeralds. Final boss was SO EASY (Metal Overlord) i couldn't believe it.
best this in original japanese famicom edition, took ages, but finally discovered bubble mans gun was the one o defeat him. he looked like jeff goldblums the fly
