this album is Dave's masterpiece. this is my favorite metal album of all time as a whole. it came out when i was in the first Gulf war in 1990-91 and it got me through a lot of shit!
How 'bout that?! This album (along with Primus' Frizzle Fry) was one of my daily bangers when I was deployed to Riyadh in early '91. Holy Wars was spot-on relevant to what was going on in theater...and an eerie soundtrack for midnight SCUD attacks on the flightline. Hands-down, Megadeth's masterpiece!
One of my favourite concerts of all time. This was such an awesome Album and they are so rediculously tight live. Metallica did the world a favour getting rid of Dave because we got Megadeth as a result.
i know right? some pl are morons and have bno idea about rea music.,. badass.... and kickin-ass music......... hmmmmmmmm!! i feel so very sad for them.,..
@@joeldukes303 Yes bro 💯. Such a defining album, thanks to them. This anniversary gig was tight, and credit to the members Chris and Shawn? Don't know why I only just found this on RU-vid this album is my most defining metal album of the era. Full credit to DM and DE Toight toight
This album is a rarity in all music genres. It kicks ass from beginning to end. Not one bad song. I can't think of any other album, no matter the genre that is good as this overall.
Megadeth is consistent. They remain heavy and true with every album! Never conform like cutting your hair short like some bands! I'm 54 and been a fan since I was 17. My hair is still to my waste, Never let me down!
Dave is so talented.... Just the fact that he can sing in tune and play those complex notes and don't miss the tempo at the same time, is crazy!!! I know that probably those Metallica fanboys are going to say that James do the same thing. But Metallica music is not a 1/3 of how complex Megadeth's music is.
When I first brought this album I would listen front to back and Take No Prisoners always stood out as a very aggressive badass song even thou it wasn't as popular as other tracks on the album like Holy Wars, Hanger, etc..... Megadeth is just like Heaven man....
some specific albums are just a "10" no question, Rust in Peace is without question one of those. From beginning to end, no denying, no filler, hands-down, metal or otherwise, the epitome of a perfect ten album, transcendent, ideal, exact, calculated, undeniable. They roll with the time changes a bit fast, bring it back, not quite laxed, but ready to bring the attack,. I mean 5 Magics? Super on point on all aspects, Lucretia's laugh to Tornado of Souls like a metal Phalanx? That was the album, and that's where its at, straight to the meat, void all the fat. Good times, glad they could still bring the time, rarely a metal album compares or coincides, this is the shit! but, real talk, Nick Menza, Marty Friedman with Ellefson was Dave's best shot, and along with Peace Sells, those albums were all top-notch. Doesn't matter who you are or preconceived opinion, no one can deny that Rust in Peace was one in a million.
This show is iconic!!! I am so glad that they released it on DVD/Blu-ray, and CD because I really enjoy listening to it big time. I was barely 12 years old when Rust In Peace came out , and to this day it is still one of the most PHENOMENAL albums to ever come out. When I first listened to Holy Wars... The Punishment Due on MTV'S Headbanger's Ball I could not believe how heavy and amazing it was. I had already been a huge fan of theirs since So Far, So Good, So What album came out a few years earlier, but they took it to another level that was just pure brilliance. All these years later Megadeth is still one of my all favorite bands ever, and every year that goes by I become a bigger fan every time. Their last studio album Dystopia in my opinion is another MASTERPIECE. In my opinion Megadeth should way bigger than they already are. They should be headlining arenas and stadiums all across the world.
I am 51 years old and have been listening to thrash since the beginning, and Rust in Peace is the ultimate blend of thrash and technical virtuosity I have ever heard in my life. 30 years after it's release in 1990, this is the penultimate technical thrash album ever released. Metallica?? please...........................they wish they could construct an album half as complex..............
You got that right I'd call him Legends icons gods well I wouldn't go with that far but you know Dave would say that too he likes a little respect he's a quiet man and I like that I don't think he'd go that far to say the g now with that we'll leave it alone and be nice watch him he's a good dog be nice 🗿🎸
He is the best in the world ..let's see a guy from rush, a guy from lamb of God ,a guy called BOOTSIE...a guy from black Sabbath, guy from bad brains ,oh a guy from Pantera, oh this guy from iron maiden he is pretty dam good . Don't get it twisted there are a lot of great bass player ....
this was an amazing line up for Megadeth, i saw this band at The House of Blues in Myrtle beach SC. we had top balcony seats right above the stage and we were just blown away at how tight these guys are together, and WOW how does Dave sing and play all those amazing riffs at the same time, Sean Drover is like a Paving Steam roller setting the drive of the band with his piston like double kick that crushes your chest from start to end relentlessly pounding the senses, while Broderick Delivers effortless spot on solos from the Great Marty Freidman and WOW does he nail it, ( Freidman is in a league of his own when it comes to phrasing solos and effortless playing) its like Broderick wrote those notes himself the way he plays it so effortlessly, and of course Elfman holds it all together with that thundering crisp Bass. as a whole, its the best performance ive ever seen, they came out, no Hoopla, no explosions, or balloons or bubbles, no dancing girls or juggling monkeys, The stage was a huge wall of Marshall stacks, thats it, and Drovers flying Saucer Drum cage. they were spectacular, and this here video proves every word i said, they just deliver non stop Adrenalin driven in your face straight up the middle crush your balls classic METAL. blew that "other band" away, you know that "other band" that kicked dave out a long long long time ago.. well, im sure glad they did because this here is a gift to all metal fans. Thank you Dave for keeping this real. i should be in Journalism. lol. Rust in Peace.
Broderick can play anyone’s solos fairly effortlessly, he’s a killer guitarist. He gets accused of playing without emotion quite often though, if you pay attention to him and follow his work you know that isn’t true at all. He pours everything about himself into his guitar playing. He just looks robotic to people who don’t pay a lot of attention to him. If you only watch his live shows with Megadeth then you may very well think that. Watch his lessons and interviews or his current and previous work and you’ll have a better appreciation for him. The way he plays is just how he was taught from when he first picked up the guitar. Marty was my favorite in Megadeth, but Chris is by far the most technically advanced they’ve ever had.
You had me confused about "that other band". Im pretty sure you are speaking of ...that other band and not Slayer, who toured with Megadeth on this one.
@@ShermanProductions2015 can you prove that....? Its récorded live, but after they put a little touch in post production, in studio... But it doesnt mean dave is not singing.... What ta fuck man..... 😡😡😡😡
@@abikito It's well known that he overdubbed the ENTIRE vocal track. He did that on the san diego concert they released before this and the Big 4 show too. He lost his voice over a decade ago and has been overdubbing their "live" shows ever since. Wake up and smell the coffee!
@@tomikhaos7248 Hey genius, you obviously don't know what an "overdub" is. No one said he is lip syncing. He sings live, his vocals are terrible, whenever they release a live dvd he re-records the vocals. Not some of them, all of them! He's done this with every live dvd for over a decade. This isn't rocket science. Open your ears Mr. Thrasher Guitarist out of Chicago.
During early 2000's when metal was at low point, saw megadeth with Marty in a small club, must have been 120 in audience if that, and they killed it like it was a stadium performance!!! Legends!!!!
@@imalexbojorquez but the guy said in his stories it was early 2000s when he seen them with Marty. If he left in January 2000 and announced it December 99 that is very unlikely.
@Noble Failures Opionionate??..Whatever u may think of Dave's ability as a singer..you go ahead and try to coordinate the 2 at the same time..He is synchronizing melodies with harmonies!!!
How about singing, playing the base, while playing the keyboard with your hands and feet all at the same time like Geddy Lee did for 40 years. Some musicians operate at a total other level.
for my taste this is one of the greatest speed/thrash metal albums of all times..... Dave is writing at the top of his career and every song is a home run no weakness to be found
PS you have to wonder if them too whatever get along and play together but I don't think that will happen they're just too old farts kind of like you know down south thing
@@davidrockey7190 hidden treasures was basically a collection of b sides and covers they had done for different soundtracks and stuff up to that point. It was pretty cool though.
1:05:36 "Ok 2 more songs and then lunch break; man, I hate this job!!" 1:05:46 "I wish someday I could do something else... something exciting... like being an accountant!!!"
@@yianni8465 None at all. His drumming sounds like when you hit a pencil eraser against a notebook. Compared to Nick Menza or even Jimmy DeGrasso it's kind of pathetic, honestly.
This is one of the Consert,s you can see Dave love playing so mutch with the Fire belt on and go crazy with the people and that is so awsome to see.!!!!! 😎🤘☢☢☢
He's still looks pretty much the same as on this video in Countdown live DVD. He started to aged more quickly since 2013. He aged 15 years in 7 years since then.
No one ever done metal like megadeth , they only comes once in a lifetime Speed clear clean power charisma heavy and strong performance the wild looks of Dave mustain easily blows your emotions apart. Megadeth for life🤘🤘🤘
Ryan Wright you are totally right Dave is like an endless stream of organized powerful melodies , always new and updated as if he breathes music 🎶 in and out , Metallica in my opinion could have limited him And to be a Mega u need no limits Dave knows nothing about limits 🤘🤘🤘 not his dictionary.
Saw this douche led band in 85 with still only a demo out Death Angel. & |5 yr old drummer & shitted on aMD?unfortunately they were set up for failure again with Possessed & 4rd time opening up for Exciter& showed then they were for lamer tamer tone deaf posers
@@heithembenmhni6374 Oh you want some facts. Metallica are better. Led Zeppelin are better. Even the Beatles shit on Megadeth and they're not even metal LOL. And yeah...Pantera kicked their ass mate.
MegaDeth amazing band. Incredible. They absolutely make powerful , memorable , thrash metal , great musicianship and skill , to this day in a class all by themselves
Rust In Peace is my favorite album by them and top 5 thrash overall. MegaDave is truly a mastermind and a metal God. I got to meet him during the Cryptic Writing tour and we talked for an hour and a half and I asked him what his secret of longevity was and he just gave me that evil grin. Then he invited me to jam with him. I chickened out. I still bang my head against the wall over that. HARD.
LOL bro, those are not the vocals from the concert, at the time he used recorded vocals from previous concerts to replace the live ones in post-production.
We've lost so many of the really intelligent rockers recently. It's great that Dave wasn't one of them as he is the thinking person's metal head par excellence. One of the greatest guitarists who has ever lived also. Awesome gig. When the song was written 30, 35 years ago but still hits home now, that's some serious lyrics. To think at the time metal was thought of as a disposable art form with no value. Now we are realising the cultural and prophetic significance of it.... too late?
Everyone uses technology nowadays. Get used to it and just enjoy the music! In every live gig video there's always numerous a***oles saying how terrible the front man is/would be if there wasn't the auto tune and don't know what else. Especially for Dave. You know something? A hair from Dave's balls is more significant than you. If you don't like Megadeth just don't listen to it and leave us alone with your s***tty complex comments
The drummer is pretty awful here. He's not playing double kick at all. It's not even close to the way Nick plays the songs both on the album and live. I'm pretty disappointed.
Wish I could have seen this awesome show, this was one of their best albums. I stayed up all night learning this album in a small room and a cheap guitar, I didn’t care, this was my totem.
Dave is the best heavy metal guitarist ever.Even live he pushes himself with great sound. Ive seen all the metal concerts and dave + crew was the best.
Somewhat agree, the only competition I hold to him is Dimebag. Dave has more technical rhythms, Dime has more original rhythms. Dave is a samurai on lead playing, Dimebag is a Jedi Master, or perhaps a Sith Lord at lead. The only edge I would give to Dave is that he can play those complex ass rhythms while singing and never miss a beat or note. Dime could play and sing also, but he never did at the level or consistency that Dave did. Lols, Dime is my favorite though, so it’s hard to decide for me.
@@pravvda4878 Yes, since Chris joined and then Dirk... but they stucked with Drover for a decade, cant believe it. He sounded great on studio recording , putting lots of double pedal but then he'd skipped most of them in concert.
@@vicrattlehead6386 Drover is a robotic mess. I was honestly surprised when they got Dirk. I won't lie I thought they would've gotten someone worse than Drover but I was happy. Because I was following his work and I honest never expected it.
Okay ...Not much happening in his work... But be honest ...He is Tight as Fuck.. On the Beat Man !! I kinda look at it as in the AC/DC Rythm Section... Not much happening , But straight & Tight !!
@@Hanzey1966 I agree on that part. He's better than Jimmy on that aspect. Jimmy tend to sounds rushed and out of tempo, Shawn was 100% precise on keeping the tempo but was too flat and simplifies most of the fill in. He's the only Megadeth drummer thats skipped the triplets on Holy wars, even skipped that fast snare beat at the start of Dave solo. Megadeth music isnt straight forward like AC DC or Motorhead.
Video is super sharp. Left the tv on and this video was casting on my tv, WOW! Blewe away but the camera guy was a bit too silly on the angles. Other then that the whole thing was KILLER! Love Dave.
