Megan’s New Album Is.. 

personally, i don’t think the album was trying to cater to everyone, but more of a showcase of what she enjoys. she’s shown what she’s capable of and what sounds she can dabble in. this lambin felt like a fun mix for her and her fans enjoyment 🤷🏽‍♀️ she’s not a one trick pony, and clearly enjoys different lanes and genres so why stick to what people have liked rather than doing what she enjoys. especially now that she’s independent

I think no matter what Megan does people will not like her because, she doesn't accept abuse and speaks up for herself. Since, we live in such a misogynistic society people will hate her because of the stuff with Tory and since there was beef between her and Nicki. There are so many artists that talk about the same thing tbh. it would be cool to listen to something different and fresh but I feel like people will still talk shit and you can't please everyone.

I believe she’s focusing on longevity as opposed to focusing on trends or what people want her to do. She’s making smart moves.

I actually enjoyed Megan, but its catered to my tastes as I am also an anime girlie as well. I think she wanted to put out a fun album that her day ones could enjoy. It got a 7-7.5/10 from me.

I think this album is perfect for the circumstances that has been going on around her. She has been going through a lot of personal struggle and frankly bullying from the industry giants and their stans, and with that in mind I feel like she deserved to release a full album of “woe is me Megan thee stallion songs” if she so pleased. But I’m so glad she went the opposite direction and made this album super fun and positive. She already released trauamazine which had its more emotional songs, so I’m glad that this album is mostly full of fun bops. I am glad she didn’t shy away from being more personal tho, especially with hiss and cobra. She dabbles with different styles and sounds which is so fun (especially as an anime girlie myself). She’s very creative with her flow. Overall it’s a solid piece of work that does have replay value!

Your take on rattle was so off base. She got lawsuits from ppl trying to come for her image, the Tory lame-os still pressed the authorities actually got justice for a black woman for once, and as you literally said yourself she has become the punching bag for female rappers. People are really working hard to pretend she is not insanely talented and a real rare visionary in the genre rn. The snake theme is her clapping back against all of the shit she’s taken over the last year. Saying it’s a “woe-is-me” is such a vile, dismissive, and also anti-artistic take (idk why you ppl get so upset when artists use what happened to them as inspiration for their art. That is literally the point of art. And no you don’t just use one theme once and never address it again; many artists revisit the same themes again and again from different angles, and those revisits and new takes are how they finally process and learn to move past it. Also be forreal and how many ppl are repeating generational traumas from shit that happened to them as a child well into their 40s and 50s and even up until they die? Like cmon what a braindead take that totally attempts to deny Megan her right as an artist to use what happened to her to push her forward instead of drowning in depression WHICH SHE ADMITTED ON COBRA SHE DID AT ONE POINT DO), and it really comes across as trying to police how Megan deals with the literal traumatic shit she had to deal with over the last five years. Meg went through things that would BREAK the average person; multiple deaths, being shit and assaulted, cheated on, stolen from, betrayed by a bunch of ppl close to her that she want to take with her on her way up, deepfake porn created and spread of her to sexually harass and humiliate her, her cheating ex speaking ill on her publicly to the glee of everyone determined to discredit her, people laughing at Nicki’s unhinged mocking of her traumas; we’d be here all day listing them all. But if she references it in a few tracks, it’s a “woe is her” thing you’re so sick of. Girl bye. 👋🏾

Play the album backwards , thank me later. it will tell you the story of how she slowly built her confidence to what it is now .

Everyone just has a problem with Meg. I understand why she led with hiss I’d be mad too, we sitting here complaining abt her subject matter and this and that but at the end of the day it’s her albums and her music and her way of expressing herself and she can’t do that however she wants. Everyone would still be made if her songs didn’t feel personal either.

Your take on “Rattle” is hilarious cause it’s easily a top three song on the album and she’s going at the necks of multiple people on there.

i feel like her main issue isn’t her sound, it’s her cadence. she has the same cadence in almost all her tracks which is why when she dropped Cognac Queen everyone loved it because the cadence was different and refreshing.

I love it. This is definitely her best album so far. I think the album is cohesive despite the different styles because of her signature flow.

I really love this album. It’s really good. Not sure what people was expecting but it’s on repeat for me. I love the Victoria monae feature. This album is so much better than good news lol. My favorite Megan project is Tina snow. My favorite song on this album changes daily but right now it’s moody

I LOVED the southern influences on this album (even through I know people weren’t feeling that on my timeline) , it’s so different from what the other female rappers are doing . And yeah is her her best album .. no. But it’s definitely a huge step forward. My favorite was Mamushi , and I’m so glad it’s becoming a fan favorite!’ Edit: my favorite “album” even though it’s a mixtape is “Fever” but that’s just because of what it means to me and my life. I was highly depressed when she dropped that n hearing that album helped me outta my depression n helped me gain self confidence, so I’ll always hold that album and her dearly cause in a lot of ways she helped save me. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Always gonna root for her!

Gurl Otaku Hot Girl is my favorite tbh 😭😭I absolutely LOVE how she used Jujutsu Kaisen (one of my animes😊) and actually used the references cleverly 😭(I'm an anime girly😊). Also Accent is one of my favorites along with other ones Overall the album was okay. I wish it was more of an anime album 😭But when she did new sounds nobody was listening (like Her and Anxiety)😌. For me, I just wish she would have came harder on the tracks like she did in Hiss. Some songs I don't come back to cuz I've heard it before but others I love how she tried something different 😭And this is coming from a Megan STAN

I’m a kpop girly but this really makes me feel nice.. getting made fun of for liking asian media was really weird and hard in school. I’d have to fight racist battles and be mocked for liking it when it’s not created by black people. Seeing a well known hiphop artist be very country and into Asian media is 🙌🏽🙌🏽 I love attack on titan and her reference in Glorillas song spoke to meeeee🤣🤣🤣 But I’m the type of person that will find something to like from someone I enjoy . I try to hear them out and give the song a few treats

I honestly didn’t listen to Megan until this album so I think she’s going to gain a whole new audience from this. I think it’s very smart for an artist to try and gain a more global audience. Also this feels very Megan ❤

i wish megan would create worlds for us to live in, if that makes sense. nicki did, doja does, the best rappers all create WORLDS. i feel she still does “personality” rap, which is cool but idk, it’s not the sexually explicit nature of her songs but how repetitive the sexually explicit nature is. i liked the mamushi song. but also, ugh idk if it’s just ME personally but i hate “i look better than you” rap the same way i hate “i’m richer than you” rap. i get its probably aimed at girls she doesn’t like in the music business, but imo it falls flat when it’s like - you did indeed get surgery (not shade at ALL, most do). also idk call me Ram Dass or something but energetically the way she was rapping about it was off to me. i feel like it encourages girls to keep feeling like their looks and whether they’re fuckable to men is their biggest asset. idk.

I enjoy MEGAN. It’s a fun album and a great representation of where Meg is mentally and emotionally. The album highlights her past relationship issues, negative coping mechanisms, depression, dealing with public backlash, regaining your confidence via Worthy, leaning into her love for Anime, and reminding us how proud she is of her Houston roots. Is some of the lyrics repetitive? Yes. But overall it’s a solid album. My favorites: 1. Paper Together 2. Mamushi 3. Miami Blue 4. BOA 5. Figueroa 6. Moody Girl

The anime she is cosplaying is one piece & its amazing & I love meg showing more sides to her💞 because there has definitely been a negative stigma with black ppl & anime I love that we changing the narrative 💞💯

I feel like…this is a transitional album? It’s like she’s trying to prove herself and try out different styles and throw a lotta stuff out but it’s not all quite hitting? I think the 3 singles and Otaku Hot Girl are the strongest tracks for me. Worthy and Where Them Girls At are fun but I wish there was a little more to the choruses. I wanted so SO bad to love this album but I’m just OK with it; 18 tracks is too many as well (not as many as a Nicki album tho 😂). Definitely agree that more collabs with female rappers would be amazing.

This album was more cohesive and vesatile. Megan dabbling in different sounds, themes and genres was the way to go. She is exploring, experimenting and showing more of her personality/artistry (She was hiding this whole time) which is part of being an artist and creative. Were all multifaceted as humans.

I like Mamushi, but not Hot Otaku Girl. I was kinda expecting more than just two references for Hot Otaku Girl and also about the experience as an otaku. Not about the people she hates nor the “I’m better than you”. I can’t consider it as an otaku girl anthem. Personally, the only good thing from it was her video about her Japan trip with that song in the background. It’s nice that she’s exploring more things to sing about.

It sounds like you preferred the ice spice album which is wild lol.. I feel like Megan has a lil bit of everything because that’s her personality and this is music she wanted to make, hence being self titled. Some of the hooks could be better, but it’s a great listen.

Glorilla) Paper Together (ft. UGK) Songs I dislike (probably need to grow on me): Where Them Girls At Rattle Down Stairs DJ BOA Corba Worthy (I hate the autotune, she don't need it) Mamushi (ft. Yuki Chiba) Broke His Heart I forgot what song it was but the beat switch on it really got me bumping (I believe it was B.A.S) I fucking love it. However, I believe most of the tracks on her self-titled album need to grow on me (and when I mean grow, I fr mean GROW) Although, I don't listen to Megan like that ever since her Good News album, I realized that the majority of the songs I like are the features she had on the album and it's kinda concerning, Megan can spit bars by herself so hopefully as the weeks go on I can enjoy the more solo songs. I would've enjoyed if the album told a story on how she grew as a person from the events of last year. Hiss told a story on her frustrations about the blogs, media, the men in the industry speaking on her name for a couple of clicks, the whole thing with Nicki, etc. I'll give the album overall a 6 or 7 outta 10.

I think her getting caught buying 30 million streams on Spotify kinda tanked any hopes of beating the flop allegations for this album. That said I like the concept and specifically the anime angle of it but Meg herself just isn’t versatile enough to pull of alot of different styles. She has the same cadence in each song and has trouble switching flows so even though she’d technically trying new things like people are saying she should do she’s not exactly pulling them off. I like the song she did in Japanese because her flow actually works there but the album overall was forgettable unfortunately

I might be able to give you a good anime recommendation but I guess it depends on your taste, what you like in other media forms. My first two anime were really heavy. So good but so like deep lol. But that’s the type of regular movies I like. But now I more enjoy slice of life I just got into anime like 2 years ago. Bc imo the whole genre /art form is improving while our media forms (Hollywood, mainstream streaming service originals) are getting stale or worse

I loved the album! The only song I don’t like is Worthy. It’s boring tbh. Every other song is enjoyable though. I would give it a 8/10. I think the album was a great representation of her personality without having to dabble into all of the Tory stuff. I would love to hear the deluxe.

This actually became one of my favorite albums by her. I like how she catered to different lanes and to speak on "Worthy" specifically, I think that's her best "pop girl" song yet. It's still not a lane I believe she needs to go in but this was the best attempt for me. I think Megan's repetition issues come from not finding new ways to talk about her topics + her using production that uses similar elements. Her hooks aren't always the best either. I love her Tina Snow sound most and I like how the album started with three tracks in that lane and got back to it with songs like "Accent" and "Paper Together." I like how she is going even deeper with her love for anime and even has people who aren't into curious about it because of her songs, looks/cosplays etc. This album wasn't phenomenal but there were several songs on it I really enjoyed, some that weren't for me personally but I can see why many people like them and maybe one or two were just full on skips. One thing for certain is this project felt authentically her all the way through.

Idk I guess I just expected more out of Meg when I heard Cobra and Hiss. I thought she would leave the drama alone with Hiss but she kept speakin on it, and when she tries to sing it's a huge turn off. Most of the album just falls flat for me and it becomes a little to repetitive in topics as I kept listening. To me, a lot of the songs lacked that spark that makes me wanna play it over and over. In my opinion, Something for the Hotties is better and it's not even an official album. She honestly could have kept this album because it wasn't like she needed to put one out anyway. She could've given it another year or two and really perfected this album.

Having 3 Grammys and getting caught with 30 MILLION fake streams is wild and so embarrassing! She ain’t beating those flop allegations at ALL! 😭🙈

I’m felt like this album was okay i think she did a good job with hiss as a first song for it got a lot of attention. But even though the hiss hype didnt carry for the album. I like some of the songs and the features are good. Even though nicki and megan are beefing i feel like they should have gotten a song together it would have been a really good song. I feel like features were all over the place. I feel like features were missing. Like some artist didnt fit the song they were featured on. Im also suprised she didnt feature cardi b on the album. But overall it gets a 6/10 for me

I feel like every song on the album sounds the same. No switch up in tone or style just a different beat 🤷🏾‍♀️. It was hard to find favorites but I think mine are B.A.S., Mamamushi and Accent. Definitely my least favorite Megan project but my favorite one is Something For the Hotties.
