For sure! Since I don't yet know how they work I didn't consider them. In any case, I was testing this deck well before those first prototype creatures were spoiled. For instance, I don't know if casting them for the prototype cost also changes its mana value. If not, then they're definitely busted with Megatron!

Not sure if you’ve found the answer yet, but it does affect their MV if you cast it for its prototype cost, unfortunately 😕

When you create a token copy of a permanent with a casting, the token will have the same exact mana cost. This is helpful for anything that cares about it like chroma, devotion, and even mana value. The ONLY exception is creating a token copy of the backside of a DFC (not MDFC, though). The token still has a mana value of 0 and no casting cost. Thus, what I'm doing with Feldon and Mimic Vat DOES work with Megatron.

While I'm humbled you'd love to see my takes on those Transformers cards, with the avalanche of product recently, I'm still caught up with a couple of videos for some Jumpstart 2022 commanders. Maybe in the future when there're a couple of lulls between releases I can revisit some commanders and sets that I couldn't quite complete before future sets got released.

The Transformer commanders are definitely incredibly janky and probably need some new future cards to make them work better when they get printed in the future.

@@TheCommanderTavern Yeah agreed... I think it DEFINITELY works way better in U/B/W Sydri, Galvanic Genius deck.. because Sydri can make use of these 5--7 cmc Artifacts to animate to block and attack with while gaining a huge amount of life. And the U/B color scheme is superior at tinkering the Artifacts into play too, you have the Tezzerets, Treasure Mage, Trinket Mages and transmuting to find you them, and Master Transmuter to piper them into play, and Tolarian Academy to get massive mana from all the artifacts, its just far better suited playing with Artifacts. There's just no reason at all to play Megatron and fodder cannon the artifacts over that, and honestly if I had the choice I'd actually rather go R/W Brion Stoutarm and use it to fling creatures for huge damage while gaining life back, there's several instant win like with the Avatar you just fling and kill an opponent and better tricks, it's also WAYYY better as you and a lot of EDH players know to have a sac outlet, it protects your creatures from getting exiled and weird things enchanted, and it can be activated at any time... Megatron is way too expensive, has no haste, and can only trigger the ability once at end of combat at sorcery speed. So yeah, just total jank, compare to the B/R/W Elder Dragon that's just a little bit more but dies and 7 damage's the board and gains you like 100 life... it's not even close. It's important for people to ALSO look at what OTHER commanders do at that cmc and this one falls way short.

@@Jaryism Exactly. However, given commander's culture of people playing whatever they want, even if there were viably better options than Megatron, people who want to play him, will.
