I used this with my DA on my black vehicle to get rid on minor scratches in the clear coat. With a black vehicle, you may need to do it multiple times. Since i wanted mine to look perfect, it took about 8 to 10 attempts. What this does it slowly reduce the clear coat until the scratches are no longer visible. The key is to go slowly back and forth 8 to 10 times, using some pressure, not a lot though. Apply more to the pad, and do it again, until you are happy with the results. The friction with the polish will help heat the clear coat to eliminate the scratches.

My experience. 2018 Toyota Camry LE Galactic Aqua Mica. One long(10") thin, horizontal, shallow scratch on the lower left panel behind the wheel. It was deep enough where you could feel it with your fingernail. So what to do after getting tired of looking at it day after day? So I went with the brand name product I been using with the spray wax and detailer. Meguiars, to avoid product buyer's remorse. Just a small dab on a lint free cloth. Applied(small circular motions) to the first 2" of the scratch. At first, no result, but with more pressure? Scratch gone. Worked my way along the entire scratch, a dab at a time...the entire scratch gone within 15 minutes. Wow. I only used about 6 dabs of the entire tube, so if there had been a smaller container that would have been nice. A little goes a long way...Very satisfied with the product for my situation. Thanks for the video~!!!

How does this differ from meguiars ultimate polish which looks the same. The ultimate compound is the more abrasive version.
@DaveRebuilds
@DaveRebuilds 3 года назад
So this is the most abrasive, it’s designed for deeper scratch removal only. Ultimate compound is for medium scratches and can be used to smooth the entire panel or full vehicle. Ultimate polish is the final step before a sealant/wax/protectant and its job is to remove the really fine scratches and swirls to give a proper glossy finish 👍🏻, hope that helps

@DaveRebuilds 5 лет назад
Christopher Norman personally I would try ultimate compound first as it’s less aggressive and if it doesn’t work, then resort to the x2.0 👍🏻
@dahoobs17
@dahoobs17 3 года назад
@@DaveRebuilds I think you're wrong, Meguiar's Ultimate Compound is far more aggressive/abrasive to clear coat and paint, as it brings back the colour in old paintwork and refines every little scratch. You're sacrificing the clear coat at this point to bring the paintworks colour back, but if it's the only option to fix the colour/paint, then that's what you resort to. A more aggressive compound, such as Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 is a less abrasive "Compound" when compared to the Ultimate Compound, but still does a good job getting out fine to medium scratches; out of clear coat like it says on the front of the bottle (it wears down clear coat too like the Ultimate Compound.. just not as fast) A polish, is less abrasive again when compared to the Scratch X 2.0 and just polishes out very fine scratches. Hence the name, polish. So from most Aggressive to Least 1. Ultimate Compound 2. Scratch X 2.0 3. Polish As mentioned in other comments a car can only be "Compounded" up to three times in most cases. After that you then can get past the clear coat and to the actual paint which is bad. In this comments case though, I would recommend the Ultimate Compound; as they have paint fading and I would guess that most of the clear coat would be gone anyway if a hard sponge has been used on it. A nice wax afterwards and would be good as new and don't try Compound the same area again in the future. Pretty sure Meguiar's has a video somewhere to back up what I'm saying, because that's how I know all this, Cheers !

@DaveRebuilds 3 года назад
@@dahoobs17 thanks for the info dude, I’m just going by experience having used both and what worked for me👍🏻 In terms of you reading that you can only compound a car 3 time before you burn through the clear, I assume you mean if using a rotary polisher rather than a DA as paint on most cars is thick enough to withstand multiple DA compounding 👍🏻

Being honest, I think the autoglym scratch remover is better as it doesn’t contain the silica’s that the meguiars does. So you know that if the AG has removed a scratch, it’s removed it, whereas the meguiars can “hide” scratches because of the silica’s, so once they wear off, it makes the scratch “reappear” (if that makes sense lol)

Water 8962 it is essentially a compound that refines the laquer coat of your paint to remove the scratch, it is only really effective against light scratches, deeper scratches need a much more aggressive approach such as a professional compound product or even wet sanding. It is great at removing light scratching though! It has a lot of “filler” type chemicals in it, so deeper scratches won’t look as bad after use, but they will come back once the “fillers” wear off Hope that helps

Angel Aguilera hi, not 100% sure to be honest, I know it works well on lacquered paint, not sure how effective it would be on solid paints. Best idea would be to either check the bottle before application or read up about it online to make sure

Hint: If you put too much on your desired area, you can use petrol (higher octane), to remove it. It has no harm to your paintjob.

László Házi really? I thought petrol would make it worse? Good tip if it’s correct though

@@DaveRebuilds It's a common thing to remove polishing materials as well, so it should remove it without a problem.

Jose Gap hi, you can use this instead of polish on scratches, but I would recommend using a wax after you have finished removing the scratch just to give the paint as much protection as possible

Can I use entire car only ?

Noel Otero only on individual scratches, not sure if I would use it on an entire car as it’s a very rough abrasive
