This month, I share some of the settings I've settled into after a year of driving my EQS-580. I also get the chance to share an example of how well the car's insulation works and show you how Apple CarPlay and the Holiday Graphic Goodies look.

I love your reviews. As you point out, much of central and western Pennsylvania is a charger desert. I live in Western New York, and the most direct route to Washington DC hs no reliable high speed chargers between Bath New York and Maryland, a distance of about 250 miles. My EQS 580 has the range to do it, but if the temperature is iffy a stop at State College is possible, and it adds about an hour to the trip. You can also take I81 South whic also add about an hour to the trip. Hopefully, Pennsylvania will wake up get with the program soon. I have installed charging capabilities at my relatives' homes and at our summer home in Western Massachusetts just to avoid the problem. I also carry adapters and chargers for multiple 110v and 220v outlets just in case. The cost of installing chargers and carrying cables and adapters it trivial by comparison with the cost of the EQS.

Thanks for the response and sharing your experiences. I like how you added the chargers and carry the adapters to address potential contingencies. What charger do you use at the homes?

I had electricians install outdoor 50 amp NEMA 14-50 Outlets at the relatives' homes and at our vacation home. In the car I carry a Shell Recharge 40 amp portable charger that has a NEMA 14-50R plug and a three prong 110v adapter. The amperage on the charger can be adjusted to be lower than 40 amps, if necessary, and it automatically adjusts if the 110 volt adapter is used. I have various NEMA 14-50 adapter plugs for 30-50 amp dryer, stove and welder outlets. I have bought 10 gauge 120 volt extension cables for our vacation home and for our relatives' homes to use in a pinch, but, of course, charging at 110v is very slow. I use a 50 amp RV NEMA 14-50 extension cable for the 40 amp charger at our vacation home because the parking area is about 75 feet from the house. The cable works fine, and it operates within the 80% NEC load factor for continuous loads. The Shell Recharge charger and the adapters fit easily in the small well below the floor of the hatchback area of my EQS 580. I think there might be better choice than the Shell Recharge device than there was when I bought it, but I don't need to change at this point. If my relatives wish, I would probably install hardwired ChargePoint wifi enabled home chargers because I have been very pleased with mine. My car pulls about 38-40 amps on a 60 amp line at home, so the numbers all work out. I also carry a J1772 to Tesla adapter for use at Tesla destination chargers. I am still shopping for a CCS to Tesla adapter for Tesla superchargers, although I have the app necessary to charge at Tesla Magic Dock equipped stations, one of which is on a route we regularly travel. A2Z has an intriguing product with its "Typhoon" plug, but I'm still shopping to see whether Mercedes will come out with a certified adapter. Hope this helps. Best, Rob @@EQS-Owner

I have really enjoyed your videos and am grateful for your honest opinions. You mention that the dealer has been great, but how about MB itself? Have they provided any feedback directly to you regarding the various tech issues?
@EQS-Owner
@EQS-Owner 6 месяцев назад
I've not contacted MB directly - because I have not felt the need to do so. They have not contacted me directly, but I am OK with that.

Recommend a mobile charger for 110 outlet. I use it with family all the time

Thanks, I've considered that - but in this case, I don't have anywhere to plug it in and charge for the night. Making the 30 mile drive would be easier. After posting this video, I started looking into Tesla Superchargers that work with non-Tesla cars. Should have an update for next month 👍

Hi, thanks for sharing your journey considering getting a 2023 EQE 350 four-wheel-drive question for you. Is there a way to turn off that loud welcome/your name I wouldn't really need to be welcomed by my car
@EQS-Owner
@EQS-Owner 2 месяца назад
I will look into this - there probably is a setting you can turn off. I actually enjoy the greeting.

How well does your front end handle bumps? I can't seem to go slow enough to clear them without scraping.
@EQS-Owner
@EQS-Owner 6 месяцев назад
The car does ride low, but I have not had many scraping issues (I can't remember having any on the streets, but the "do not enter" bump with the one-way metal spikes gets me every day at work). Bottom line - it is not a problem for me.
@EQS-Owner
@EQS-Owner 6 месяцев назад
And today it didn't scrape at all - might be the difference between starting up and driving fairly quickly vs. starting up and waiting a while (which I did today responding to comments). The car may just take a few minutes to lift. Does not solve your problem, I know but it may help others

Can't you carry a small gasoline generator inside ur trunk so u can always charge regardless of your location?
@EQS-Owner
@EQS-Owner 6 месяцев назад
Nice idea, but I don't think I'd want one inside my car - it's a hatchback, not a trunk, so the smell would be a bit much.

A generator that small wouldn´t have enough power to charge a battery that big. Most of them generate about 2kw so it would take more than a whole day just to charge the EQS to 50%. One hour: 2% capacity.
