I think the screens are deliberately awkward to reach, that's why the touch pad exists. Its prob a safety concern. If you use a touch pad you are more likely to use peripheral vision, if you use touch your more likely to look at the screen directly.

In June I drove the EQC from the Factory to Milan and back. It was really great and the consumption was very low. One Time charging and about 23kWh/100km 👍🏻

It seems like the Ionity chargers start off at normal speed for a while, and then ramp up to hyper speeds.

Hey, nice Video. You can use also the right touchpad in the steeringwheel to control the right screen! Or the big Touchpad in the middle. So you have three choices to control. Every one find his favourite.

My Mercedes B250E is also non linear : 100% Charge on the car display is actually 28kw. So if you press the 'range extend' button ( which enables the full 33kw charge ) the car continues to show 100% even though it is still charging an extra 5kw. The other thing I've learned is that when your range looking low, never, never, never look at the guesstimated range left. Always, Always , Always look at the battery percentage. Mine still operates at 1% ( I've pulled onto my drive at 2% more than once ). It's far less anxiety inducing. Anyway, thanks for the early look at this car on a long journey.

I don't understand why they have the center screen so far back.. weird! Why not put it closer to the user and added bonus benefit of more sound insulation behind it :) You are of course never supposed to touch the screen while driving anyway but.. yeah.. that's not going to happen :D

All the tech in the car looks super cool and interesting... but it really seems like the touchscreen is very unergonomic and the UI very inconvenient to use. At least the software is running very smoothly.

Like the massage and the quietness. However, the car exterior looks so bland if not ugly. Well except for the rear light when it turns on at night. Does Mercedes make this EV for only old people?

It seems the battery is made with 96 cells in series and at 10% SOC charging at fairly high rate. The pack voltage was 361V that means 3.76V per cell and due to high charge rate that should be right and pack just be at 10% but then at 10% energy counter was at 1.62kWh and at 13% it got to 2.42kWh so that is 3% SOC increase with just 0.8kWh put in thus if that was linear it will mean just a 27kWh pack :) so super non linear SOC calculator. Then at 90% the pack voltage was 399V / 96s = 4.15V that is fairly high and I will say it is at least 90% SOC and energy counter was at around 50kW that is from around 4% SOC to 90% SOC so about 58kWh usable maybe rounded to 60kWh but not more than that.

@Bjørn - can you also measure noise level outside ? for example when this car roll next to you at 40-50 km/h it's really noisy, with the Model 3 and i3 I have the feeling that they are much more quiet. I live an are where Mercedes is testing all their cars so I saw and heard them even as prototypes. So at the end I'm not sure if with EV's our cities will get more quiet that much. P.S. I hate it's headlights -they're blinding me all the time

Cities will be quiter even when the cars are still audible with tires etc. At low speeds electric cars already have to emit noise so people can hear them instead of looking. We are used so many year of hearing cars that you go blindly.

At 9:42 i can see 3 pins for AC charging. Does it charge on 3phase? Earlier i heard that it charges only on 2 phases with 7,2kW.

It's a regular type 2 connector. If it can charge 3 phase im not sure.

That screen is put so far, so you won't by trying to touch it while driving, which is distracting.

On my Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor touching the screen does not distract me because I use "Navigate on Autopilot". It drives itself on the highway. All I have to do is supervise it in case a crazy driver gets too close to me or I need to avoid road debris. Also, after awhile, I learned where common things are on the touchscreen - just like you learn where common physical buttons are on obsolete cars that still use those. Finally, all of the most commonly used functions are controllable with the two thumb wheels on the steering wheel. For example, volume, next track, pause, talk to the car, change automatic following distance, etc. etc.

for reaching the screen i would say, your arms are to short ... - but seeing that video i am a little shocked how "perfect" that car is compared to Tesla. Ok, you have not the acceleration of a Tesla, but who needs that in daily use of a car. Would like to see more about maximum range and energie consumption in next video.

It's bad design if the car is made for people over 180 cm height. Why are the seats, steering wheel and seat belts adjustable? Because that's good design. I'm 173 cm which is not considered to be short. If I can't reach the touch screen without having to bend forward then it's not an optimal design.

@@bjornnyland : sorry, having short arms was ment as a joke. The video at about 3:00 shows that there is a "mouse pad"easy to reach to control the monitor. In my childhoud having short arms means not having acces to cookies. For christmas my grandmother baked special cookies and stored them in a box on top of a cupboard in the kitchen. So sneaking in there and being great enough to reach there, would give you some foretaste of christmas eve ... so short arms - no cookies!

I’m still amazed that folks in Norway like the ones using the Ionity charger waited for and bought the Audi etron. I’d love to hear that sales discussion: “I’d like to buy an EV please. It must have below average range and efficiency, average performance and a big silly grille. Oh and it must have 4 rings and be much too expensive”. Sales person: “Ah, so you want an etron?”

There's no such thing as "The best electric car". The best electric car for me is Model 3. But the best electric car for you might be EQC.

The screen placement is so bad. And I think Mercedes knows it which is why the touchpad was put in. Clearly someone in the design department won out over function.

It look like Mercedes have not figured out the basic knowledge for the EVs. The korean, american and french cars do not have these problems with the BMS and SOC.

It was the Norwegian pronunciation of LED. Lead in Norwegian is bly, so there is no need to spell it out to avoid mixup. if you read led in Norwegian, it will sound like lead for an English speaker.

Is it a bit of a pointless car? It is slightly smaller compared to the E-Tron, it chargers slower, has about the same range, is not buildt like an EV «from the ground up», meaning that it really shows that it basically is the GLC, but electric. It has no frunk, still has the massive tunnel in the back from the GLC and has really poor ground clearance. I dont get it. The price is not very different to the E-Tron, and the EQC is missing a lot. Does not mean that it cannot be a decent EV, but given what the retail on one of these is about the same as the E-Tron is not positive.

Bjørn Nyland Pointless i will concede is a poor choice of word. Yes, but it is not much cheaper, in fact, hardly any cheaper and it looks like its a lot of sacrifice.

In Germany it is way cheaper than etron with better Equipment. And etron is huge. EQC fits better imho into european streets, etc. And etron user Interface is worse having three touch screens...

The market will decide if the EQC won’t sell. It is likely to be demand constrained for he first two years. So no, it’s not pointless if people will buy them

Mercedes is proudly the producer of the worst infotainment system. Tried it in the B45 and C63s: worst experience ever and very laggy at times.
