Lauren Griffin What do you mean? He never stopped loving izzie. When georges mom came to the hospital, he said the only reason he ripped on george all day was cause george reminded him of Izzie and he missed her. He introduced himself to Jos Fiance as “Alex Stevens”. When Jo was mad about him fertilizing Izzies eggs when she had cancer, he defended Izzie. When Izzie left he was so angry, but when he found out she was divorcing him, he cried because he truly loved her. Izzies doppleganger (the pregnant chick) came to the hospital and he was a mess. He fantasied Izzies life, thinking shes probably happily married with kids and has a house that smells like muffins. He compared his and Izzies love to Meredith and Dereks love. He never stopped loving her, not to mention when he found out he had kids he went to be with them because he never wanted to be like his father. They didnt ruin any character development, he had a great ending. Sure, I feel bad for Jo. But i’m glad Alex and Izzie are finally together again.
S A R A right he never stopped loving izzie. They were meant to be, just like mark and Lexie. I’m glad he went back, but I’m bummed that he won’t be in any more episodes. Maybe they can call like mer and christina

Yes, but look how long it took him to become a good guy. I remember the episode when he treated Lexi horribly when she had her breakdown after the shooting. He would not even help her. I wanted to kick him in the butt. He only became human after he started dating Jo. But I like him and Mer as friends, platonic friends. I hope the writers don't put them together.
I believe they said the last time he's mentioned, he left to go take care of his sick mother. They won't kill him. He had a good relationship with Shonda, and Ellen really calls the shots. They'll want him back for the series finale.
It's season 16 and he's leaving the show. I think they are going to kill him bc he has a wife so he's not just gonna disappear Edit Ok so they said he wen't to visit his mom and help her. But in this mist recent episode he won't respond to anyone, he won't call his wife back (Jo) and he won't text Meredith!
Agreed! I think the entire show would be ruined if they ended up as a couple. He is the best brother Mer could ask for and vice versa as a sister. As a viewer, I will be disgusted if Shonda "goes there"...
3:21-3:27 is my favorit moment so far. That scene shows how much Metedith means to Alex. I can't remember Alex crying because of him being worried before.
Edith Candy I definitely agree. Alex has been there way more times than Christina. Plus Christina is kinda a jerk and wouldn't hesitate to toss Mer aside to further her career. Alex is a big teddy bear and genuinely cares for Mer like they are siblings.
Tbh, I think both were strong friendships! I miss the Meredith, Alex and Christina trio and when she used to call him 'evil spawn'. If Christina, had stayed, she and Meredith would've still been close and she'd still be her 'person'. Saying that, I've always loved Meredith's friendship with Alex and how protective he is of her, like a strong sibling bond.
I loved Mer and Cristina, but i 100% agree with you, Cristina was selfish and wouldnt hesitate to through Mer under the bus, but Alex would do anything for her, and hes so protective, kind of like her older brother and i love it:)
I want more shows with normalized male and female friendships. Cause almost every other show is like "this guy and girl get along lets ship it." Like A girl and a guy can be friends and it can be absolutely wonderful and loving without it having to turn in a relationship every time, and Alex and Mer are the example of that.
I think this is an important concept, but just not for them. In cannon sure, they are a good example. But let me have them in Fanon without judgment. (I still think they could have gone cannon and the therapist was onto something, but its NEVER happening now so......)
@@kaylar.8126 Actually shonda said no one should interfear with Mer and Alex friend it was ment to be that way, that's why they had JO, even Ellen and Justine said in an interview anything is possible in Greys but they said we are better as friends we don't want to interfear with that, even we were actually going to have the friendship close to Merlex the one with Jo and Link but they ruin it by letting them have sex together.
I like their relationships development far more than mertina, they started off hating hating each other, but through everything they grew together and now they’re crazy about each other, whereas Christina and Meredith were the best of friends from the start to the end.
Okay, so... don’t attack me, but Alex is the only one I could accept by Meredith’s side. He’s literally the only one who has never left her, the only one who truly cares about her and genuinely loves her. He’s the one who stayed while everybody left. I can’t imagine anyone else with her, besides him. And I know they have a siblings relationship and Alex is married, but he’s the only one who deserves her. So, if you want Meredith to end up with someone at all costs, then let Alex be that someone.
I love that people keep debating about whether or not MerLex as OTP endgame would be a good idea...when in a way it's already exactly that. They haven't been "just friends" since probably Izzy left, but definitely post-plane crash. I think what's interesting is that no matter what kinda romantic or sexual shenanigans these two engage in, they're still always going to be one of the most important people in each other's lives. Forever. And I get both sides of the argument for sure. I mean, Meredith has lost so much, been through so much, and given that Alex has been the one constant in her life since the show started, I could see why people would want them together. Particularly from Meredith's perspective. No guy in her life has stuck like Alex. And the reverse is true too, barring Jo. But Alex has said multiple times that Meredith has always been there for him no matter what. And they have chemistry. It's why they're such great friends. And I get the argument for keeping them friends. They're family now. That transition would be weird. And awkward. And if it was going to happen, it should've happened already, when the transition would've been less weird. I could've seen it back when Alex was in that whole jail mess. Or post-Meredith's accident when that patient attacked her. It's a bit late now. But... I'm just saying. Even if they both find happily ever after romantically with other people, they're already endgame. The last two interns standing. The only constants in their revolving door lives.
Shonda and krista tried but they refused, Ellen said Alex is a close person in her life since they Met when they were 25yrs ago when they were modelling Ellen was in L'Oréal Paris while Justine was in Kevin m claim or something and since then they were good friends meet in Greys and continue the friendship Mer has has seen Alex get married to Kisha and have kids same to Alex has seen Mer with Chris avery to getting married and having kids, so putting them in a romantic relationship they refused Ellen said Alex is closest person to her and her kids in life so shonda and Krista had to obey that
this made me cry. i used to hate alex and now i absolutely love him. him and meredith both. i honestly want a strong friendship like theirs. he loves her with all his heart and she loves him. its so sweet. especially when he cried after she was attacked 😩😭
Julia Alpoin, Oh my gosh me! I wasn’t expecting that kind of a response from him to her that way.... but I mean it makes sense. I wanted that kind of crying tearful face from Jackson back when April was on the freakin kitchen counter and almost effing died during her unsterilized C-section. But no!! He was just holding the baby while Bailey had to check and make sure Ben did a good job. Ben was more worried than Jackson at that point!! Made me so mad.
all the people that died, all the times his heart has been broken. yet he never gave up, always made sure everyone else was happy. alex is genuinely one of the most selfless people to remain through it all. you’ve done good, karev.
Okay. When the time finally comes for Grey's Anatomy's last episode, this is what I need. 1: I need a George reference. I loved George and he deserved better. 2: I need a Lexie reference. I loved Lexie to and she also deserved better. 3: I need lots of hugs and happy crying. Idk why or how that would come in but I just mentally need it and reality doesn't matter. 4: I need references to past events. Like "remember that time blah blah blah" Idk I just need it. Don't judge. 5: this is a Merlex video, so I hope no one judges me. This will work however you see them. In love, best friends or siblings. Okay, here we go. Before the credits roll I want Meredith to be talking in the background like she always does, and I want to see cuts to all the characters in their lives. And Meredith will say something like, I have been through so much in this hospital, and I should probably hate it. But this hospital has been with me since the begginging. We went from 5 to 2 interns, and gained people along the way. But we survived." Just something like that, and right before the credits roll we will get a Merlex hug, then it will fade black and say Greys Anatomy.
Honestly, Alex Karev is my favorite character and probably the most underrated in the whole show. He appears in a lot of episodes, but we never get enough of him like we do with Amelia and Owen. He has been sidelined for the most recent seasons, I feel like. He did have a season about marrying Jo, but I want to see more of him. He’s been an OG since season 1 and I want to see him more and expand more of his storyline. Give him badass surgeries, idc. Mostly, bring back moments like Merlex because we haven’t seen them interact much in season 16.
The Assult episode kills me so much. Seeing how much they care for eachother, him trying to stay stong for her , being the best uncle to her kids, her being the only caring and stable relative hes ever had.
I love how we got to see all of their characters grow, but most of all Alex because I think him and Meredith are the ones who have changed the most, and I miss Christina and Derek both, they was amazing characters but without them we have got to see Meredith and Alex friendship blossom into something amazing!
I love their friendship. It's so important and powerful to have a strong male/female friendship that is super loving and supportive but totally platonic/familial.
I can't put into words my love for Alex Karev. He is one of my favourite characters of all fiction of all time. "You're gonna be my best man!" "I want waffle sundays." "I would hug you goodbye but then you'd have to rescrub" "You have to forgive me! You guys are all I have!" ❤
i love them so much. you can see how much love they have for each other. they’re like platonic soulmates. best friendship/development in tv history imo. ❤️
Nancy e n barb My person would definitely be Amelia. I'm a very calm and collected guy and sometimes I need a little crazy. Or maybe I need some dark and twisty, in that case my person would be Mer.

I love Alex. He has lots of problems himself but he never cries about it. He’s afraid to open up to people because of bad childhood. He consideres Cristina his friend xD.
Amy Bolick i really really want alex to marry jo, then Meredith catches feelings for alex. alex realizes what he’s needed his whole life, then jo starts feelings for deluca or cross. then alex and jo realize they aren’t for each other, jo finally gets with cross or deluca and alex goes with meredith. at first it’s hard because of derek because alex and derek were closer than riggs and derek, so meredith seems awkward, then alex wants to go on a ferryboat and meredith realizes that derek only wants the best for mer. the kids already love ‘uncle alex’. alex will never be derek but i think if alex was with mer he would become such a good character

Beautiful example of a girl and a guy being friends. Thats family. thats her brother. She would do anything for him and vice versa. zero ickiness zero jealousy. she becomes best friends with Jo and helps her out in crisis and is her rock and support system too. Thats how real best friendship works. Jo and Alex are their unit and Meredith meshes into their unit and Alex meshes into her unit and theyre always there for each other. So now Jo and Mer are a unit too.
Their friendship is honestly incredible. Alex is one of my favorite people on the show and if he ever does die I will flip. If the show gets continued.
I loved how they grown towards each other, how they cared and supportive for each other day by day🥺❤️ Their friendship is the only thing that was constant on the show🫶🏻 They were family 🤍
I love Alex and Mere. They’re so similar, yet so different in a way that compliments each other really well. I also love how we can go back to previous seasons and watch how they’ve grown, especially Alex.
I never knew about merlex until I saw this edit and it's really opened my eyes about how special their friendship is, this makes my perspective of every moment with Alex and Meredith different, in a way I wish I saw sooner
Brianna Lindsay I agree 100000%. Friendships like that are so rare these day, even thought it's fictional. Alex clearly loves Jo and I hope Mer will find somebody who is as good as Derek, even thought it's unlikely.
