MESSY Dump-Trailer Rolled Over at the Landfill. Can you smell this video? Poor Alex, handling this call surrounded by garbage. We received this call from a customer to assist in a rollover at the local landfill, and Alex was dispatched in our 75ton rotator, Big Flipper.
These end dump trailers are always a pain for a few reasons. One, the piston. They can bend, tweak, leak, etc. You have to compress it back in order for it to be towable. Alex had a genius idea to feed the hydraulic oil back into the tank and avoided spilling a single drop. Once that was put away, the second part was to rig for a Pepe's classic lift and catch.
I cut out a lot of back and forth but kept enough to show you all the labor involved. Not to mention it was a HOT one this day. After everything was fully rigged, the trailer was lifted up and swung a bit to straighten out. As you all know, Big Flipper is an exclusive recovery truck and does not have an underlift which means it cannot tow. It does, however, have a towbar that enables it to tow. We've never ever used this, but Alex decided to save time and use it to tow the trailer alllll the way from the top of the landfill to the street.
Once on the street, he swapped with Echo in our 35ton wrecker who finished the tow, while Alex headed to his next job. Very messy (literally) job, but overall great execution and technique.
