I love this one. I think the first half is the romantic idea of supporting someone through a mental health crisis and the second half is the grinding reality.

Bibi and Ren were in a relationship when this was shot.......this video always makes me bawl like a baby .....it is intensely personal and heart-breaking!

Apparently Bibi left him to preserve her own sanity but came back to do this video with Ren.

Ren has said that he sent her away . They were so young and he had been diagnosed with chronic bipolar syndrome and he saw his future, then quite differently than he dose now . I too have P.O.T.S, only reciently diagnosed, and have had a long lifetime of misdiagnosis and can testify to how that can screw you around . I too hear myself in Rens words . They say misery , loves company ,well it might be true , I have found brilliant company among the Ren fans , I hope the Renagades will always be such beautiful people , they dont really care about the trivial stuff like age or wealth or what country you are from . It is a group of people who if they judge at all, seem to judge on empathy and kindness more than anything elce . We are the the misunderstood and pain wracked who have heard Ren ,sing out ,in our darkest nights ,like a clarion call ,and have emassed to support him . So happy to see you BOTH this morning. This is a rough one. I don't watch too many reactions to it. It hurts my heart to see him like that. The worst part is seeing him cry. The only thing that makes it ok, is knowing he is on the other side. My thought and prayers are with you BOTH.

OMG Nancy if we didn't have mental illness before invisible disabilty, we'd certainly be guaranteed it after so many years of misdiagnosis. It was over 25 years between my initial emergency event and diagnosis, and even now following diagnosis I still run into the occasional doctor who sees an obvious scan of an EDS symptom (eg last week or was a pneumothorax) and still think I've somehow made up EDS and somehow conjured up diagnostic imaging to match my imaginary diagnosis

This one is tough, only the second time I have watched this video. I am pretty sure while Ren is a great actor, I saw in one of his interviews that alot of this didn't require acting at the time. Great to see Nancy on a bit of an upswing, I hope it lasts, I wish for you both it could last forever. Thanks for sharing such personal aspects of your lives. Edit to add: Pretty sure this was Ren around 25 or 26ish as it was the worst of his battle.

This song makes me cry every time I hear it. But at the end there is not one song of Ren that doesn’t touch me in one way or another. I would so like to see your wife again, I love listening to her 💕🩷

There's so many ways to interpret this... was she ever there? Was she one of his delusions? If I lose my mind will you stay.. could mean you're only here when my mind is lost so if I give in and stop trying will you be with me all the time. It could mean she left. Or it could mean what Ren said about it... that this was his fear, that no one would be able to handle his illness and he would basically be alone.

Losing yourself, as someone who lives with mental and physical illness, is probably the scariest aspect. There are many cliches that people trot out when talking about mental health and physical wellness, so I will simply say to your wife, as someone who deals with chronic illness, may you have more good days than bad and may your bad days not be your worst days. They can't do anything for my conditions either and that trapped in a prison of your own flesh thing is very real. It's either a prison of the mind or a prison of the body but there is no escape.

It is so nice to see you both. This song hits hard. My husband has been with me through all my health problems. This song makes me cry every time. It takes a special person to watch someone you love go through hell and decide to stay and help them through it. And I agree with you. It is nice seeing humanity in all the comments. ❤

Ren wad 25 here and dealing with the psychosis he encountered in his worst days. The same time as clawing the kitchen floor. It was before he knew he had Lyme disease. So glad to see you guys doing this journey togethet. Thank you for sharing with us.

Hello Nancy and Bill , so wonderful to see you both. Nancy I completely understand everything the two of you are saying. My brother was my health support, he also was dealing with cronic illness so we were able to support each other , he was my best friend. I lost him in 2020 . Finding Ren has definitely helped me survive, and heal .

A large part of the stigma around mental health comes from religion and folk story. The mentally ill were seen as being possessed by demons or evil spirits or dark humours. People would shun them from fear of the malignant spirit infecting them. Sadly this belief persists even in "modern" societies, particularly amongst the excessively religious. Feeding the fear is the fact that there are usually no external signs or bodily injuries like "real" medical conditions.

Great to get to meet Nancy! Potts is horrible. I once lived in the basement of an old TB sanitarium in Asheville NC. The most haunted place I’ve ever lived - and I’m an atheist saying that. I mean, I could ride a ten speed in circles in 10th gear in the apartment - it was huge, but there were no other apartments in the basement and the iron door across the vast room outside my front door stood before the sanitarium’s stone-shelved morgue. I cannot imagine the suffering that accompanied a stay back in the day. And I know that Potts is a significantly different variant of TB, but I’ll let my past hauntings inform me how absolutely devastating it must be endure. You guys are great. This is a tough song for me. Peace and love to you both.

I'm so happy you watched this one. She leaves at the end of the video, because the song was written about Ren's fear that he would lose her. Part of me loves this because it is done so beautifully, but it's the only Ren video that is really hard for me to watch. That's because it's so real. It takes me right back to the time before any diagnosis, when I was too exhausted to move, and in very severe constant pain. I couldn't walk or even stand for more than a few seconds, I couldn't put my own shoes on, hold a cup, squeeze the toothpaste, or even lift the blanket off myself to turn over in bed. I didn't know what was wrong, or if it would ever get any better. Watching this really makes me feel that time again so vividly, so it's difficult. But at the same time, it's incredibly beautiful. I don't relate to it in terms of a romantic relationship, but I did have a son taking care of me at the time, and similar fears about the impact on him and whether he would be able to do it all. I'm glad the two of you have each other. I can see a lot of love there, and I'm sure it really helps you to navigate all of this.

I like to interpret it as she stayed with him until he was able to stand on his own two feet again (no longer needing his crutch) and then she left for her own health and well-being. She saw him through until he was stable. But that's just my interpretation, as a lupus patient (with lots of other flavorful issues).

Biggest fear is that my bf will be gone. He's my crutch and my support. He's stayed when I broke and we were only together for 6 months when I got sick. Unending, grinding daily pain and mental health rapid decline. Me becoming jobless and bed-bound and housebound and agoraphobic. Fighting for SSDI and sanity. And a decade of this and he's still here. This song is my biggest fear. That I will lose him. That I'm going to become so unbearable that even his love can't hold him here. If I lose him, i lose myself. This song crushes me every time. I'm sobbing as we speak. Sorry if this is garbled, I'm in a bit of a fog at the moment. Rough day. Coping with anothers' severe illness is such a huge ask - no blame can attach whatever you decide, if it's not in you, then it's not. Especially tough for young people who have the world at their feet, IMO....

this song is Ren's favorite. he said it on a twitch stream, a few months ago.

Another interpretation of the "empty hands" aspect is that his "crutch" was never really there. It was his tormented/demented mind imagining her presence to provide the support and loving care that he craved and needed. But he was going through this pain and anguish all alone. So his crutch was a psychological coping mechanism.

Blessings to both of you.. My wifey saw me through open heart last year even ater just having a head on collision that damaged her and now I'm taking care of my wifey through her 3rd surgery, so we all have our trials and tribulations, right? We take care of each other so we are blessed. This is a hard one because I'm not sure Bibi was really there to begin with, a psychotic illusion. Ren said he got so bad he took off all his clothes and lay in the middle of the road at one point because he thought he was possessed by a demon. Bibi was his real girlfriend and I am almost sure this all became too much to take for such a young girl.

This song always hits me hard my ex has MS his diagnosis came 8 yrs into our relationship we went from a normal healthy fun relationship we both worked and supported eachother to him stuck in bed misusing meds and me being his sole caregiver we lasted 17 yrs total he is still my good friends/and he is no longer abusing meds but i couldnt do it anymore

I am of your generation, moreover I've studied alternative health models over many years. Orthodox medicine is called Symptomatic medicine. It is actually primitive in that it is built entirely around symptoms. Prevention or Cure should be the foundations but they are not. We can take our health into our own hands armed with a bit of knowledge and some insights into the concept of the Whole person, ie, Body, Mind, Spirit. Wholesome nutritious food is medicine for the body. Removal of parasites is highly recommended, as they absorb so much of our nutrition. Spring water, preferably in glass bottles, or at least water passed through an activated charcoal filter. Mind nutrition is what we share here, visceral music accompanied by open talk on ones condition of body and mind. We all are playing roles in this life to each other, it is our spirit that serves, Soul food is consumed by our service to each other and humanity. The human spirit is the only enduring part of us in this entire human odyssey. Learning to walk our talk is important. That is the spirit taking it's part. When all 3 work in harmony and purpose, then we become Whole once more. We make room for miracles, where the incurable simply heals. Much love to you both. Praja.

I just commented on another video earlier today about how I related to you both and this video has really sealed that deal! Wow! I'm so sorry to hear that you have been going through that for so long. I myself have been having very similar issues recently but with some stomach and vascular issues mixed in and when you described how it feels, I couldn't help but cry because it was spot on. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers (my agnostic version of them anyway). 🤗 Also, I think you mentioned that you live in the Northeast and I do as well. I have POTS and other autonomic dysfunctions as well as Stickler Syndrome (a connective tissue disorder similar to EDS which I believe you may also have mentioned?) and if you ever want to compare notes on doctors or other resources that may be available. Let me know and I will be happy to have a private chat with you.
