Mgs5 its officially announced here is the Trailer its awesome It turns out that Ground Zeroes and Phantom pain are the same game! Are you Excited? Leave some comments!
+Fireteen97 spoiler here: because "him" kaz is talking about is really you..the player.. the one who is controlling the medic as "venom snake"..in short you ARE the phantom of Big Boss..
+Fireteen97 SPOILERS: There were 3 people on the beginning: big boss, kaz and the medic(the player), in the trailer kaz aks about the medic, and later we see a guy in bandages that help´s venom snake, in the game we discover that this guy was the real big boss all along, and you were venom snake, his phantom(or doppelganger).
I agree kinda. I expected more for the hype they made. The twist itself came out of nowhere. It wasn't really integrated into the story itself. It was just sort of hanging there. But overall enjoyable. Best gameplay even if the story lacked.
RWDS on surface level, it explains how big boss isn’t dead after original metal gear but I would say if you look deeper, it shows how big boss is somewhat villainous and a hypocrite as he used Venom the same way the government used him in operation snake eater
Same here. Actually I was so hyped, I bought Legendary Collection right after release and became a fan of a franchise I wasn't familiar with before. I even skipped my first day in the university to play this game in a first minutes after release.
@@TheLiamster If you ask me, and amazing stealth and detail game, but the Metal Gear we didnt ask for and totally unecessary. I was happy with the end of MGS 4 from a lore point of view
That first shot ("what about him?") and that last shot are two of the most important shots in all of MGSV. And they were in the first freaking trailer lol
+Miguel Gomes oh man you don´t get it. you are bigboss not a random guy. watch the scene with "the man who sold the world" cassette again. not only BB is talking to V, kojima is talking to you as well. remember the quotes. "i thank to you i cheated the death" "and thant to you left my mark" "you and i write this history together." "its our legend." that was an epic thanking to his fans from kojima himself.
When I see Big Boss near dead, only to be saved by Revolver Ocelot on a horse, and then they ride off, getting chased by a fiery unicorn, I die inside... From pure joy. This is going to be a masterpiece.
TheDarkd3ath they are all code names depending on the mission. Shalashaska is an other name for ocelot like snake n the boss all code names as they progress n become more legendary they have more recognised names like solid snake becomes old snake.Cannot be a legendary soldier/spy n be called jack, John, or David, little hint in the trailer "snake is back on Fox" only one chacter is called fox and if they where referring to foxhound wouldn't they say "snake is back in fox". But by saying back on Fox leads to the code name snake is back on Fox (grey fox) the only character with a red bionic arm in the whole metal gear universe.
TheDarkd3ath There's only one Ocelot. In MGS3 he's just Ocelot, in the rest it's Revolver Ocelot. Liquid Snake is the twin brother of Solid Snake, both of which are clones from Naked Snake aka Big Boss.
***** Nah, it can get really confusing at times. Like how Ocelot is no longer Ocelot in MGS2 because of how Liquid died and how his arm was transplanted onto Ocelot after Ocelot lost it in the fight with Solid in MGS1 which made liquids mind take over ocelot but it was not _really_ the arm it was nanomachines.
Fusionx916 he had TONS OF TIME abd incredible budget. and he wasted it all on Quiet boobs abd Code Talker tapes and fillers. The game was lost and doomed from the start . The only way it would have been saved is if the whole plot was remade from scratch and written by someone else other than Hideo preferably
@@SlayerSeraph Not to be an apologist; first I agree with you in a way. Kojima, was absolutely being brutalized by the Konami we know today. They essentially forced him to make 3, 4, 5. That's not including the fans pressuring him. Frankly, he shouldn't have given in to the pressure, but Kojima was utterly sick of the franchise and wanted to move on, he put minimal effort into it. If Konami didn't hold the noose so close to his neck and found a good replacement director, the would've been exceptional. Sorry for the necropost.
+nightwingvmc2 The game was supposed to be more dark, and serious than other Metal Gear Solid games. I think that if Kojima had the ability to really go all out with the game like he wanted, the story would be infinitely better.
+Roy “Atticus” Lee So he purposefully made the game disappointing? I don't think so. I just think Kojima didn't care this time around. He was tired by the time he made MGS4 and though he had a spike of creativity with Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes to some extent...here he finally just got bored. He wrote a pathetic story, made a whole bunch of side-ops missions and made them mandatory and basically insulted the players by calling them Big Boss, an international war mongerer and criminal.
My 10-year-old brain never had a chance against the original MGS trailer back in 1997. For long I thought nothing could ever surpass that feeling, but I also never could have imagined the perfection that this trailer is before witnessing it. It's as perfect as it gets, even more so after everything is said, done and played.
by extension, miller's reaction during his convo with ocelot after the credits was a pretty accurate representation of the fanbase's reaction :/ sucks man
+The Box That Could That's the story Kojima wanted. The story itself isn't Konami's fault (the story being *unfinished* was their fault). All these Kojima fanboys talking about how ultra amazing the series is... but then go bashing the ending that HE wrote (more or less). I personally love plot twists like that (except "it was all a dream"; hate that one). But that ending does explain why Big Boss sent Snake to kill... Big Boss... in the first game. The ending was also very well handled as there were subtle clues all throughout the game including the fact that Big Boss's personality essentially changes for seemingly no reason and the fact that in the future of the series' time line Big Boss doesn't have the "horn" or a robotic arm.
IronicRobot When the game opens to The Man Who Sold The World, it's not being very subtle. It also isn't being subtle when every five sentences they make an obvious statement basically outright saying that you're not Big Boss, e.g "The patient in the next bed saw my face", "You're talking to yourself". I love the series, but both Konami and Kojima blew it this time. Also, "But that ending does explain why Big Boss sent Snake to kill... Big Boss... in the first game". Yup, the game explains a small thing literally no one wanted explained or cared about.
Now do you remember? Big boss cheated death because of us. We have written our own history. He's big boss, and we are, too.. What are we watching today, we built it. This story-this legend- it's ours. He is us, and we are him. Let's carry this with us, wherever we go. Thank you... Hideo Kojima. From here and out, we players. Are Big Boss.
I just love how many clues to the twist they have in this trailer The lyrics are literally “We are not your kind of people You seem kind of phony Everything's a lie” And in the beginning you are looking at snake through someone else’s eyes Like so many clues
Looking back on this again the part of 2:11 - 2:43 was pure genius how he incorporated the music with the scenes. Revealing that Phantom pain and Mgsv was indeed the same game. PURE genius and EXTREMELY well done!!
@@robrs8631 because at firts this game wasn't presented like a Metal Gear game and was just named like "The Phantom Pain" with only the hospital parts and a really weird marketing approach ("indie" phony studio, notices of "real" surgeries about head transplant, etc) to just later reveal that was all a Metal Gear game
That moment when the motorcycle part never happened like that. Kojima once more played us like a damn fiddle!!! Tricking us till the end with a troll face.
+Manny Magana it didn't. the scene here shows "Big Boss" with shrapnel, which as we all know, doesn't have, and of course in game it's the real Big Boss without a scratch
Manny Magana No, we see Big Boss on it, in the morning, with a cigar. This shows us Phantom Big Boss, on the bike, smoking a cigar, at night, with shrapnel. That never happened, because we were trolled. What people thought would happen because of MGS 2 happened. He released and sold a 2 hour - game, then trolled us with someone else. He literally repeated himself. I feel confident in saying, Kojima can fuck off.
+Collin Berend Kojima didn't want to ruin the story because if he had the real big boss in that trailer with the dd jacket on and we played the game it'll raise speculations and ruin the game from the start
"it's incomplete" "It's missing a big part of the story" Yes, absolutely. It's almost like there was more there that isn't. What do they call that again, Phantom Pain? 🤣
Makes some sense Phantom Pain = feeling pain at a body part, usually a limb which isn't intact anymore (amputated). MGSV = We're feeling the pain that something is lost, feeling pain of the parts which aren't there. At some parts of the game, we even wonder why we're even doing all of this. Because Big Boss brainwashed us and we're just a puppet of him while he slithers in the darkness like a snake.
@@devduthk3816 Phantom Hand=I sit on my hand until there is no more feeling and I use that same hand to fap. Fap=A delightful activity where everybody enjoys.
When I watched this trailer 10 months ago I felt bad for BB but now all I feel is emptyness. The medic may be BB but hes not the same person I actually felt like man big boss is going down in a big spiral but now I realise that he just left with out a scratch and played Miller like a damn fiddle he played the medic like a damn fiddle even the player. Well you know what theres to many DAMNED FIDDLES!!!!!!!
I'm not a dick or a douch I'm just freely expressing how I feel if I used spoiler tags everyone would read it anyways trust me I know curiousity gets the best of us.
Big Boss Actually, it wouldn't, and you just ruined the game for me. If you're telling the truth, that is, from what I looked up it looks like you're just a dumbass spouting game theories that have not been confirmed. Please go away.
What do you mean "dumbass spouting game theories" anyways this is the internet if you don't avoid it somewhere along the lines it's gonna get spoiled I just wanted to express how I felt and if you felt what I did was a douch move I don't care douch or not I was freely expressing my opinion.
I can't believe it's been 4 years... I still can't get over the destruction of the base I so dearly built in Peace Walker, playing it from to to bottom. I even got to the worldwide heroes list thing online. And after this game's end? Fuck I got super depressed, I can't get over all that phantom pain (not to mention the missing chapter 3... an entire chapter, missing...)
I never played a MGS Game and lots of people said it was amazing so i checked out this trailer and honestly this looks amazing best trailer ever IMO and im defianetly getting it
Kyle H. Ground Zeroes will have a nine page summary of the events of 3, Peace Walker, and maybe Portable Ops, since it is canon. That won't exactly help people understand the emotional moments of MGS, but it's still there.
***** or buy the MGS Legacy which comes with Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker, and Metal Gear Solid VR mission. Its only about 50 bucks
This trailer is up there with Assassin's Creed Revelations (Iron by Woodkid) trailer, and Dead Island's trailer as being the best I've ever seen! The music really adds a soul to them!
yeah i agree with you my favorite trailers are the ACR this one end the new E3 one unfortantly ACR the game wasn't as good as the trailer but am MGS phantom pain will be even better
Gives me fuckin chills still, even after beating GZ and TPP. It was fun when we didn't have all the pieces of the puzzle and annualized every cutscene, coming up with wild speculations, good times. I often wonder how different mgsv would have been if it came out this year (fall 2017) with GZ intergrated rather than the rushed fall 2015 where GZ had to be chopped out a year prior. Still a solid game, no pun intended.
MGS5 trailers were so good, I've watched them on repeat, even though I haven't played any MGS* before. Because of them I've played the entire saga. xD *Aight I've played Portable OPS mulitplayer demo with friends and Peace Walker demo on PSP, but that was before my English was good enough to understand what was going on with the story. xd
man i rode this wave all the way until i knew for sure we weren’t getting a Chapter 3. Kojima gave me the exact feeling of phantom pain, something missing. knowing something should’ve been there, it isn’t but i can feel it. i don’t need a chapter 3 and i already know what happens next
Damn. For a game that really didn't live up to the hype, this trailer may just have been why. Don't get me wrong now; I think MGSV is a fine game even with it's flaws. However, this trailer was just really, really good. The cinematics, the music, and the editing of the trailer built such an interesting trailer that instantly hooked you into the game. I was excited for it and I was always intrigued by the well-shot cinematography with those unique camera shots that really catches your eye. I really wanted MGSV to capture the sensation the trailer gave. If only there were more cinematics that furthered some form of a plot.
I just had a nostalgia moment thinking about this trailer. Around 7 years have passed allready. This game meant so much to me. I have a particular link with the series. I come from a modest familly, and I never had much video-games when I was a kid, I had to work hard to earn them. I was offered a PS1 for Christmas, although it was allready 2001. I was the happiest child in the world. As a first game, I had Metal Gear Solid 1 and later Resident Evil, Syphon Philter, Medievil... Good times. But Metal Gear Solid was special. The level of creativity, inovation of this game allways fascinated me, even the music was perfect. I was a bit confused concerning the story, because I had never played de first Metal Gear games. So I didn't know about Big Boss yet for instance. All I had were supositions to fill the holes. Then I finally had a computer with internet around 2005/06 and the world felt bigger than it ever was for me. I didn't even know there was a Metal Gear Solid 2 or 3, so I was thrilled as much as shocked. Since then, I began collecting Metal Gear games. I know that Hideo Kojima will probably never read this message. But I still want to thank him for creating such an amazing game series. The story has a true meaning, it's original, complex and deep. It's a shame that it had to end that way. I was expecting a Loop story, that would have been the ultimate time paradox. My biggest expectation was to see Big Boss meet the young Sniper Wolf, and also young Solid Snake. But things are how they are... Thanks for the upload.
I don't get why people say MGSV was a let down, it still ended up being the greatest stealth action game of all time. And to whoever says the story was so short or that the game lacked any story at all. What Kojima did for the game was to have the story spread out to many characters own personal missions and cutscenes, this made you--the player-- explore more of what the game had to offer. Really pushing you into the open world that he created for you. And whoever says Big Boss says such a small amount of things in cutscenes, shouldn't really matter. Because tell me, which cutscenes, weren't amazing or badass, even though he didn't or barley said anything? Silence can be the loudest noise, especially how the character of Venom Snake was built around. Also whoever says the ending was half-assed or a let down, well, weren't you surprised? Isn't that what you want from an ending, especially from a Metal Gear game? A plot twist? It wasn't even half assed, it was meant to signify that anyone can be 'Big Boss', you and me are Big Boss. That's what Video Kojima wanted to tell us, I'm just surprised nobody else who calls themselves 'Hardcore Metal Gear Fans' didn't realize it. The ending was a thank you for playing his game, being the hero. Thank you for being Big Boss. I would go further talking about how there's so much you can do, developing weapons, collecting materials, construction, advancing your army and base. But I think you get the idea in trying to get across right now. Though I know someone will say 'but there's so many repetitive side-missions!' And my answer is this...Nobody is forcing you to do those, you don't need to do them, even though they're simply made to help you get more materials and GMP. You chose to take them, not really the games fault on their end. And with that I will conclude my explanation. Hope you found it valuable.
I find your comment very valuable. As a Metal Gear fan, I'm glad this game existed, I'm glad it turned out to be this masterpiece. Of course, everyone has their opinions on the game (some hated, some loved it) but I cannot say this isn't a great game.
@@LoneWolf-yu7qc In the universe yes, but meta-textually it was a message to the player that you are just as much a part of big boss as the character himself is.
I firmly believe this is the best game trailer ever made. Music choice is phenomenal and used well, imagery is incredible, and video games graphics had never looked this good before
I am still wondering wether or not Kojima is trolling when he said it was "Him" when Kaz pointed to the guy with the first perspective view. They are marketing two names for Big Boss: Punished Snake and Venom Snake. He doesnt seem to have a shrapnel on his forehead in Afghanistan but here he has one and it looks like he just formed Diamond Dogs. "Two Phantoms were born" tagline still bothers me, it could be Big Boss and Kaz or Big Boss and the unnamed 3rd guy in the hospital who could also be the guy with the head/face bandages. Two Snakes? One fake and the real one in a coma for 9 years? Even though they're saying Keifer Sutherland is voicing Big Boss, why is his name suddenly Ishmael in the story? Big Boss' real name is Jack.
I agree. Even if it wasn't for everything else, what the fuck is the point in referring to the third guy in the hospital? Who is he, and why is he important? This was a trailer, so I doubt it means nothing, but I guess I can't be sure.
Ishmael could be a hallucination. Then again he could be the guy who operated on Paz in Ground Zeroes who was also actually voiced by Keifer Sutherland.
I still don’t think I’ll ever see a trailer for a game like this, ever again. A few years have passed and I’m yet to see anything close to this level in terms of quality, surprise, and graphic enhancement (these graphics looked insane at the time of reveal). Regardless of how MGSV actually turned out in the end with it’s disappointing story, the hype and journey on the way to its release weee some of the most exciting times of my gaming life. The game wasn’t perfect in hindsight, but the gameplay is still some of the best ever. And I enjoyed the f**k out of playing it. i still enjoy intruding in other people’s FOB’s from time to time and stealing their staff and materials, knowing that nobody is playing anymore, so there is little risk of retaliation 😂
Couldn't agree more, this trailer was absolutely phenomenal. I remember watching it for the first time all those years ago and being blown away. I still come back to this trailer every once in awhile simply because of how good it is, it still manages to get me hyped and excited even though the game has long been released.
Kojima HAD to have been inspired by this song on some of the writings. Else how the FUCK does the song just fit TPP so well? Maybe I'm looking into it too much, but man it's a pleasing match regardless. "Running around *trying to fit in,* wanting to be loved. It doesn't take much for someone to shut you down. When you build a shell, *build an army in your mind,* you can't sit still. And you don't like hanging round the crowd. They don't understand." You dropped by as I was *sleeping.* *You came to see the whole commotion.* And when I woke I started laughing. The joke's on me for *not believing.* We are not your kind of people. Speak a *different language.* We see through your lies. We are not your kind of people. Won't be cast as *demons,* Creatures you despise."
Before finishing the game: "Nooo big boss what happened to you :'(" After: "- What about him? - Everything's a lie - Two Phantoms HOW THE FUCK I DIDN'T- OH DAMN YOU TROLLJIMA"
Harrison Gonzales He means the base that you gradually build up in the game MGS: Peace Walker. Throughout the game you acquire more and more soldiers to help you're cause. And in this game, they take it all away.
No matter what the future holds for the series, the buildup to MGSV will always be the best part of the Metal Gear history, and I'll forever cherish it. Thank you Kojima and yes, Konami too.
The future holds nothing fir the series, thanks to Konami's utter incompetence. We were robbed from the Metal Gear set in WWII, with The Boss as a protagonist.
I completely played ground zeroes....The feeling of metal gear changed a lot, less cutscenes. Less stuff. And for every side mission (INCLUDING DEJA VU) It uses the SAME map....That's what i hate. Currently i know the whole map inside out. And now when seeing this trailer again. i think: This game is going to be a LOOOT better. And now my feelings raised up 50% of playing this game. Cant wait for this one. Hopefully it wont turn out like ground zeroes.
Yea im completely sick of the map as well, but the gameplay is so good. Imagine that in tons of different environments with actual story and MGS characters. Its gonna be AMAZING.
The map was to get you used to the open world nature of The Phantom Pain which will features Afghanistan as an open world environment instead of invidivual set pieces that you had in previous games (with the exception of The Hospital which looks to be set in the UK etc.)
wellfuckman That i do know and i'm a die-hard metal gear fan so i follow the latest news of it. And by the way. That's not what i mean. What i saying is that it hopefully wont be so poorly made, when i saw the trailer of ground zeroes i had the same feeling as the phantom pain, but in the end it was kinda shit. And hopefully its a lot diffrent. Like in the trailer we only see hospital scene and the rest dessert. So i think it's just like ground zeroes but then 1 big mission in the desert....
I've only played Ground Zero, and Phantom Pain. Safe to say, Phantom pain became one of my most favorite games. I've never been so attached to a game, and so saddened by one as well. This game is a masterpiece, a relic that will be loved for years! Can't wait to play all the rest of the Metal Gears!
Wow, it has been almost 2 years since this trailer came out. My excitement was overboard when this first came out, and to this day it is at the same level. Mr. Kojima, please, release this game soon...
Yup. I remember watching this live on GDC in March 2013, feels like only a month or so ago. The fact we still haven't got a release date and it's now February 2015 pisses me off and drains my hype, though. It's been in development for 5 years so they're taking the piss... and I can't play Ground Zeroes without getting excited.
Wrong, after 2 he wanted to stop and move onto other games, he didn't think MGS would get as popular as it did today and he didn't want to be known for just one series and wanted to branch out. He gave the responsibility of making MGS3 to his team but they lacked leadership and direction and couldn't actually come to any decisions during the planning stages thus Kojima went back to the team and guided them and became involved again as director. He said MGS3 would be the last (again) but fans forced him back into the directors chair when there was a huge outcry for another MGS game that wrapped up the series, MGS4 was a fan service game and Kojima was even getting death threats from some of his loyal fans to make a finale MGS game. After MGS4 Kojima said he won't be making anymore Solid Snake games. He has always wanted to make an open world stealth game since MGS1 leading up to MGS3 but due to technical hardware limitations he can't do that until MGSV came to be. The switch to Roman numerals suggested that Kojima planned on making a new few more titles with Big Boss before completely ending his relationship and ties with the franchise in hopes that one day the games could be self managed by his staff. By the time MGS3 dropped, MGS became a giant cash cow for Konami so at this point he couldn't venture out and do other things like he wanted to, he became a slave at the company and tragically it was his own creation that got him stuck in that position. *TL;DR:* In short, Kojima DID care and loves his creation but even a man can get burnt out by his work and creation. Even Gepetto got pissed off with Pinocho ^^
When you rescue Kojima in Ground Zeroes, he appears on the plane with Snake when you get back to the menu. With that in mind, it makes perfect sense that Kojima says "It's me!" concerning the third member in the ER. It has been said that players who had gone through GZ will receive bonuses in Phantom Pain. Kojima could be one of those bonuses, surviving the plane crash and being available at the Base from the start. ... Unless I somehow missed a blatantly obvious thing.
Spike Rose I hadn't thought of that, but it does seem to make sense. They've mentioned that you'll have exclusive mother base staff as part of the GZ:TPP bonus, and he was a staff member in Peace Walker, too. Hell, why not?
TBrizzle01 Yes, there's confirmation out there that you can I think. Some spreadsheet regarding the different versions I saw a week ago. Maybe there will be some extra step to make it work, I'm not sure.
Man I remember before this game came out I used to get so high and watch these trailers. I would get lost in them because they were edited so damn good. Man I was so hyped for this game and i never been hyped like that ever since this game came out that was it. I knew this too because it made me sad because I knew as soon as this came out ain’t no other game will ever make me this hyped ever again or anything for that matter.
