you do know he actually made the original metal gear revengeance/rising demo on the fox engine, the same engine GZ and TPP ran on. they mamage to create a near level destruction capability, where you can slice down almost everything. then god knows what happened kojima stopped working on it and handed the project to platinum games which is a dumb down version what he intended it to be.
***** i still prefer a sword since it's ammo is infinite ^ ^ ( if u don't understand this^^^^^^^^ swords have 0 ammo making it infinite since u can use it endlessly OR u just look at s4league where swords have the & sign on ammo and guns have a limit magazine like 30/120)

It's disgusting what they're doing to him, sad they couldn't be a bit brave, give him a sword, call in platinum to make this into Metal gear rising 2 for few sweet moments.

Speaking of animations, his running animations suck balls. They just fast-forwarded the normal sprint animation and decorated it with some lightning effects. Well done, Kojima. Raiden needed to get a better mission like this or none at all.
Raiden without the sword isn't the problem here. The problem is Konami make a Raiden mission but in this mission Raiden is just a cosmetic. Except fast movement and music. If Konami make this Raiden like MGR's Raiden and If they let us choose to play like Boss or play like Raiden. I think this way everyone could be happy.

the fuck is this about Raiden not wanting his sword? this is clearly after the events on MGR because of his body, and he needs his sword to sustain his body with electrolytes, this mission makes no sense
+yesman1231 It's not cannon. Have you ever even played and beaten a Metal Gear Solid game? Hideo puts stuff like this in every Metal Gear Solid for you to fuck around with after you beat the game.

I think they meant the game Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, when they said they were going to "come back with" Raiden. I've played a bit of it, it was fun. Although I prefer more challenging games, rather than hack and slash. MGS: Phantom Pain is in my list, and I look forward to some great innovative game mechanics that set the stealth genre to the next level :)
This game takes place back even further than the original Metal Gear game, at the years of 1974/1975, while the original MG was in 1995. Raiden obtained the sword during the time periods of Metal Gear Solid 4, which takes place in the year of 2014.

I like to think Raiden refused the sword because he deemed the mission so easy it wasn't worth unsheathing his sword for it, because you know, Raiden is a total badass, that or he just didn't want snatcher goo all over his H. F. Blade.

Is it because Michio Kaku is a part Japanese Quantum Physicist that has brought all of this influence to Japan? Or is Back to the Future and Terminator their inspirations (I know for DBS Toriyama loved those). Oh, and Body Snatchers from "Body Snatchers" and "The Thing"... seem confused, like the end of 4 didnt quite go over right. Snake and big boss werent really enemies, they were just pitted against one another by the patriots, more or less.
thats fucking stupid.. time traveling was never in the MG / MGS / MGR saga... they should have used Frank Jaeger aka. Gray Fox. he had his Melee weopon and was one of bigbosses most trusted warriors. i would have loved to see HIM in aktion.. but i guess konami never really cared about him and seemed to regret it, having him killed off in mgs1. youcan cearly see it in mgs 2 with olga being the second ninja. then Raiden. they were constantly seeking for a replacement that could top Gray Fox. but no one will ever be better then him. HE is the one and only CyborgNinja, Deepthroat aka. Gray Fox aka Frank Jaeger. wasted upportunity
Ok I like the fact that Raidens is in here but I really think that his gameplay would be alot more smoother if it had more ninja-like stealth combat. Kinda like mgr revengeance.
The fact that everybody is whining/complaining/confused about Raiden existing in 1975 shows that they didn't read the loading screen text in the beginning or have heard or read about time traveling/multi-verses.
Wow... This was the best that MGS5 had? A reskinned Snake in a mission without being able to go full Rising Revengeance? I know not everyone liked the game, but still... Imagine how much more fun this would have been with a different scenario. Imagine if it had been tech-based aliens and you get to go full hack and slash on them. The "snatcher" idea was... well... pretty dumb. I get they were going for a classic alien scenario, but did it have to be one that's been done to cliche death so many times?
one one hand its a shame you can't use his sword, on the other hand its also kinda understandable as they would have to add the entire cutting mechanic to this game as well, and that would take a lot of time and effort. still should have had his high frequency blade with him just for stealth kill animations tough.
Raiden knows how to make a badass entrance and why the hell his gun has even the slightest movement when he aim down sights? I thought he is a masterpiece of bionic engineering :O
