The warning in the start wasn't there when I watched the video first time. It's kinda ruins the surprise of the video. But I understand why the warning is there. Em is probably the only rapper that can get away with using the Sound of Silence sample. Be safe guys 🤘🇺🇸🇩🇰🤘
Honestly, this is the problem with disclaimers: they're a kind of spoiler. I understand why they exist, but they should be optional, so people who are vulnerable can seek them out, and those who aren't can be subjected to the work as it's meant to be experienced.
@@seigeengine problem with disclaimers is that they are so unesasary. i mean EM is adult content and no adult should ever need any kind of disclaimer. those who do need to grow the fuck upp becaus if you are an adult you have to be able to take shit and not act like a baby when you see som real stuff.
@@rampage3337 You misunderstand. The primary benefit of disclaimers isn't simply to disclaim adult content, but to disclaim any potentially objectionable content to someone vulnerable to it: such as adult content to kids, or, say, content involving rape to someone with sexual violence related trauma. People don't need to just tough out serious psychological issues. That's not a productive mentality.
Why was the end was cut? That was the best part! RU-vid actually took his video off trending because they deemed it too controversial , now the end was now cut? I guess you could look at other reactors to see it. Hey, Disturbed does "Sound of Silence ". Neil Simon approved and loved it!
Disturbed does a fantastic version of Sound of Silence. Have seen them do it 3 times live now. David Draiman has become one of my favorite singers over the years...
If you feel like talking about stuff: do so. People do not watch Content where others react to Music, cause they want to listen to the song, but because of your reaction. So please keep exchanging about the stuff you watch. That's exactly why we are here!
When eminem is playing as Slim shady he's more comical when he's rapping bout murdering someone or kidnapping like he was doing on thr song "kim" cuz some people rly think he's that crazy to do those kind of stuff
Good take. If you like Will Smith, you should check out video from Joyner Lucas, called "Will" Also Eminem " White America" might be good choice next. Hope you check out that Eminem interview on Crooks Corner.
Eminem is the GOAT for being able to have a full song that’s a double entendre. He has at least three songs like this, Never love again from this album and 25 to life
@@tikcus6590 True, they should do some of the older tracks that follows the same subject - but they could do Walk on Water for instance, or Believe, before that if they want to do tracks from Revival. Also they could do 3AM from Relapse and Framed from Revival. :P But that's not really 'mature' Em in the way I meant it. :D
I’m really happy I found your channel, your video pausing are all perfect so don’t worry. Just wanted to say that, you two entertaining me through quarantine Ps btw he is not saying he is against guns, he is just pointing out the obvious, love from Sweden!
David Bowie (RIP to OG) used to change his characters back in early 70's! Idc about genre if artists were great & genuine like Em,Bowie, Metallica or Pink Floyd
Here's what I take from it, when these tragedies happen we struggle and argue for the reason why. Em is saying near the end there that there is no reason, no why. He showed his own demons to show if you're alone in the darkness it could be you shooting.
ok. i found your channel with the 8 mile battles, watched stan, rap god, the way i am(my fav) and now im here. i didn't know this song, nor cared for it, just clicked thinking wtf not, lets give it a shot… this is fucking amazing...
I'm not an American ... I come from a very small country in Latin America ... but we see the news from the United States ... I will never understand how they defend so much the possession of weapons ... it is not to judge ... but with everyone the incidents they have had, the possession of weapons would have to be much more regulated ... in my country to be able to have a weapon you have to do so many paperwork and so many psychological evaluations that no one has ...
When you go even deeper to the song, you’ll realize there is even third and fourth layer to it. Hear me out: ”Hello DARKNESS my old friend...” - song is named after Sound of Silence, which is also heard in the background. Sound of Silence is a storyline that goes with the song, you basically listen it at the same time. Darkness is a portrayal of mental health issues, drug addiction issues and gun issues, which all are surrounded by sound of silence - even when they are talked about, nothing will change (just like he says in the end of the song, just like ”but it’s almost as though I don’t hear no sound”). He is blaming media about not making a difference, he’s referencing to ”fear and loathing in Las Vegas” as in politicians and other representatives that don’t work for people’s best etc. You can hear the sound of silence in the first storyline as well: Eminem is afraid that he’s ”writing songs that voices never share”. Also, the vegas shooter came basically out of nowhere without a warning, with a sound of silence. Hello darkness my old friend = mental health and drug problems. Hello darkness my old friend = Just another mass shooting. Hello darkness my old friend = no one changing anything. Another layer to this is that Eminem knows what he is doing with the song. He is making a statement that will ”put him in tomorrows papers”. Yet he ”fucks media and goes all out” meaning he’s had enough and wants to end the sound of silence. He recreates a mass shooting in a song and a video to show how fucked up the world and media is - he documents an occured event and media goes bananas, somehow showing that Eminem is a problem rather than whatever happenes in the world of guns, mental health issues and drug problems. He knows this is a hook media will swallow.
Good content. I like your unfiltered reactions. I agree with you: Em has gotten better over the years. Some of his new stuff might not be as "catchy", but I look at it like poetry. I enjoy the old songs, but most of my favourite ones are from his newer catalogue.
Yep totally agree. But we need one to have the other that the beauty of his art and i really don't understand critics. They don't see the whole picture
this entire song is a double entendre. its crazy. hes comparing the life of a performer to a mentally ill mass shooter... the anxiety in both must be excruciating.
The shooter actually didn't have anything in his system. This shows Em's genius ability to double entendre EVERY TR HING!.This song hit hard. I was in the library shooting at FSU in Strozier library on 10/4/14 studying, when a a law school grad came in shooting. Being under a table hearing bullets hit books & shelves was terrifying.3 students were shot, one paralyzed & the shooter was killed. POD "Youth of the Nation" or Pearl Jam "Jeremy" are wise tracks too. GREAT REACTION! 🤘✌Stay safe!
Thanks for your story and so sorry you had to experience such a thing. I worked as a TA at a college for a couple years and my office was at the end of a hall with no way out. That always concerned me in case of an emergency.
@@apocalypseburger3298 WOW...that's a coincidence! The shooter wouldn't put his guns down and Tallahassee PD shot him like 20 times. I kept counting the shots from under a table. Thing is I have a CWP but you couldn't have it on campus, if so, and I had a good shot..I would have taken out. STAY SZFE"✌😷
@kenny12321 My sister is an SSA w/ FBI & was there to investigate. He did have a prescription for Xanax, his tox screen showed it in his urine not blood which shows that it was a low dose and was leaving his system. They assume he wanted to be clear & present to pull it off. Just saying! STAY SAFE✌💛
@@jhix9064 You should ALWAYS find the best way to get out of wherever you are, work, Walmart, Grocery store, etc.Thats our reality nowadays! STAY WOKE! Stay Safe!
I've only listened Darkness once myself. Being from Europe I didn't pick up on the song being about the Vegas shooting, so watching this was really interesting. Thanks for making this video...
I broke down when I listened to this song. When I was a kid one of my classmates parents came to my school with a gun saying he was gonna take his kid. I remember the chaos and fear in the library where I was. I heard about school shootings then and the first thing that went through my mind at the time was: "Will mom and Dad come find me?" Thankfully no one got hurt but the entire school was shaken.
Good reaction ! I suggest you to let him start with something slow but meaningful like “when i’m gone” or “stan” with explanation along i think he would be into it.
Imagine Eminem stans were like kpop stans while listening to your dad talked about Em getting older or something. Joke aside tho, your dad wisdom exceed my expectation about the reacting video, especially at this kind of serious song. Which is really helpful, something like deeper meaning in some verses that i missed, reflection for myself personally, confusion that happens in society, and or some tragedy and issue that happened before i was born yet. All of them were awesome. Don't get me wrong, you also doing great. Well done man, well done.
I love Em. I remember which his first album came out. Me and him are in the same age bracket. When I hear a son from him it can take me back to the space and time I heard it. I really enjoyed watching him mature. I think the new Em is a mixture of all three personalities. I don’t like the ppl who say they miss the old him. I mean really are any of us the same person we were in our 20s. I know I am not. I am just grateful he still has the passion to keep putting out new music. I love hip hop but I stopped listening to it because these young artists don’t talk about stuff that I can relate too. It is nice to have some new hip hop music that is old ppl can rock with. I mean really how many songs can you listen to talking by lean and ice.
What i love about this song, is that the song is talking about both of their prospectives. For example when he says " you cant murder a show no body's at" hes talking about the shooter and he can be talking about himself.
Not sure why you’d completely ruin it by not skipping to the six second mark so your dad didn’t get the damn warning which completely gives it away wtf is wrong with people?! And how the hell did you just pick up on the double when you said you’d heard this before?! Which are you lying about?
I'd like you to react to something from the slim shady lp, cum on everybody, brain damage or my fault....I think you might enjoy drop the world lil Wayne feat eminem or the weekend hills remix eminem version (low key crazy wordplay)
The stupid snowflake warning in the beginning killed the video and song. Might as well put a warning before The Usual Suspects saying Kevin Spacey is Kaiser Sosey or 6th Sense "Bruce Willis is dead".
Music from Paul Simon's Sound of Silence which fits the entirety of the song, video and the actual event.... The entire song is a double entendre. This Masterpiece is quite possibly one of the best songs in 50 years!
I sure feel uneasy watching 2 good American citizens watching this, can see the look of disgust on your faces! This was a great reaction though props to you guys.
Y’all literally cut off the end of the video bc you were triggered by em talking about some gun reform but were totally cool with reacting to the actually reenactment of the largest mass shooting in modern American history. No issues with him dropping homophobic slurs but dear god he said vote and work on gun safety laws and you get all out of sorts. Pathetic.
You should make a list of what eminem song u rly enjoyed the most of those you reacted to and change it every time u listen to a new one and at the end you can see what song that you 2 rly enjoyed, but anyhow rly love ur vids
