Metalhead watches FLOOR JANSEN & HENK POORT sing "Phantom of the Opera" | First Time Hearing 

Can we PLEASE get some love for the house band for being able to nail all of these arrangements, show after show?

When henk sings that "Inside your mind" my whole body react and covers me with goosebumps.

Henk was the Phantom on the Dutch stage, and a favorite of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Fun fact: Henk added distortion to his opera singing, for Floor, when he sung The Sound of Silence for her (check that one out as well!!), something he had never done before and is a big "no-no" in the opera world. He then added distortion again during this performance. The guy is a classically trained opera singer, played the Phantom in the Dutch version of the show in the 90's, and liked Floor so much he decided to risk his voice after a long career, just. for. her. Let that sink in a minute. I highly recommend you react to more Beste Zangers videos, and not just of Floor's.. Henk is good, Tim Akkerman has a few good ones, Emma as well. Floor stole the show, but the others managed to shine at times as well.

The embrace at the end of their performance is as precious as gold.

Her Vocal Majesty Queen Floor Rules!!!

Ive watched this performance several times, Ive watched a ton of reaction videos late at night when I cant sleep from Nightwish with Floor and it never gets old. She is one of those singers that just punches through your soul. Floor Jansen is the embodiment of every thing that music can do to you and she is powerful, beautiful, captivating, adaptable, charismatic and just awesome.

Freaking AWESOME!!!!! Throughout the song she never hits those high notes in places where you expect her to, but wow the impact of when she does at the end!!! As you say Jase, mind blowing. I've become a fan of hers.

One thing you need to know about this performance. If you haven't caught onto it yet, they are performing the Nightwish arrangement of Phantom of the Opera. This originally was covered by Nightwish on their album "Century Child", that came out in 2002. Additionally, this was one of the last songs that Nightwish performed when Tarja was the singer in the band. They performed this at End of an Era (her last show with Nightwish) in 2005. Finally, as Henk is one of Floor's idols, she asked if he would sing this with her. He agreed, on the condition that he could perform this with Nightwish when they tour the Netherlands. Those shows are still scheduled.

The entire season of Beste Zangers with this group was incredible. Floor sang in German, Spanish, English and Dutch (I believe) and she was incredible. If you haven't already, you should watch Henk and Emma's duet. Another incredible performance.

Zthis was on Floor's fantasy list to sing this with Port. They both played off of each other perfectly.

Crazy thing is that although she hit up that D6 for 8 seconds, it doesn't even look like she's trying. She just conveys it so powerfully and naturally. I know she can sing higher than that. Highest I've heard from her is a B7, which is 5 whole notes above the D6 (just in case you aren't a musician).

Hi Jase FYI it was raining and the tarp started to leak water off the sides. If you look closely you can see the water dripping. You should check out her solo concerts Henk sings a After Forever song with Floor. The rain is right before Floor moves her head up and down

Keep going with this show. Floor is amazing throughout. Also check out Rolf Sanchez singing Hotel California on this show also good. Before lockdown Floor was doing a solo tour with this band The Marcel Fischer Band supporting her.

Greetings from Finland. Liked your humorous warning intro a lot, not to mention the amazing live performance by two great Dutch vocalists, Floor having been with the Finnish band Nightwish since 2012 and counting. Floor studied musicals & opera only part-time for two years, so she's not really classically trained, but she is so talented & versatile. In fact the main reason she quit classical vocals training was that she wanted to be able to use her amazing voice more freely combining different techniques & vocal styles. Henk promised to sing this Nightwish version of the song only if he was promised that he could do it again with Floor during the next Nightwish show in The Netherlands, which is now postponed until the worst Corona pandemic is over.

I just found this channel yesterday and I think I have now watched half of the videos on it. It is always really fun to watch people who have never seen a group you love reacting to them for the first time. The first video of yours I watched was reacting to Hamilton and then one of the Pentatonix videos. Another artist that I would recommend it Dodie Clark. Her channel name is doddleoddle. She also has a Vevo channel and vlog channel (doddlevloggle) that includes a lot of music as well. She is an AMAZING singer/song-writer from the UK. Not only does she have an awesome voice, she is possibly one of the best lyricists I have ever encountered. She has a talent to sing about an experience and you immediately think, "Yes, those are exactly the words I would use to explain the emotions I felt in that situation." And then when she is talking about an experience that you have not had, she writes about it so well that you feel like you experienced it yourself. She will also post multiple versions of some of her songs; one version that is just her in her bedroom with a ukulele/piano/whatever, one version that was recorded in a studio with a full band, and a third version that is the official music video with a visual story to go with the song. Not every song gets all three versions but when a song does get all three it is fun to look at how the same lyrics can mean different things in different musical/visual settings. Another thing, she has a lot of songs that can really be connected to the struggles of mental health and how to deal with it and based on your reaction to the Bloodywood videos (I think that was the group name), you would probably like some of those. She also has some really fun, happy, sweet songs that do not explore heavy topics that are also worth a listen. It is really difficult to recommend just one song of her songs but you really can't go wrong reacting to anything Dodie has released. I don't really have the finances to be anyone's Patreon patron but hopefully you at least consider listening to Dodie.

i'm not really into metal, but this is out of this world, even if you are not into metal music.. this wil make you listen to metal and other music more often, it makes you curious about other genres of music, i'm from Belgium.. so i know these people and i know the program, it's sick what they do, i love it.. maybe one of the if not THE best show to watch on television. what people do with other people's songs, different langueges, different styles, different genres... i love it.

As you learned Henk is really a classical trained singer so you won't find much metal from him besides the sound of silence he did on this show in the Disturbed version. However, after the succes óf this show, Floor did a solo tour in the Netherlands where she performed all the songs of this show as well as songs from her entire career so far. Songs from her previous bands After Forever, Revamp, a project called Northward, and of course Nightwish. Henk joined her as a special guest and besides Phantom of the opera he joined her on stage in another song from her band Revamp, called sweet curse. You can look it up on RU-vid but for now will not find something high quality. The last two shows are postponed because of Covid 19 but they're supposed to be recorded, so hopefully in time there will be better quality to listen, but that would be the most metal song you hear Henk do next to Sound of Silence.

The point of this Beste Zangers season becomes more obvious with every performance you see: they invited 5-7 of the most popular Dutch singers and Floor (whom nobody knew before the show, not even the other singers). But week by week, Floor just kept blowing everybody’s minds with her singing and at this point, the ladies as well as the younger male singers were true fans and very much realizing that the unknown female singer (Floor) was by far the most talented singer in the room and could really own and slay any song thrown her way, no matter what genre or language... Amazing performance! And yes, I like the Nightwish (Tarja & Marco) version too, it’s just heavier and very Nightwish to my ears.

So.. I just binged like 20 of your videos in the last 3-3.5 hours... amazing. Simply amazing. Here's a bit of a journey for you...some bands and the first songs I ever heard by them..these are all in the metal genre but not death/black metal or anything. Italy for crazy heavy/power/folk metal dwarves in Wind Rose with Drunken Dwarves. Germany for some power metal goodness in Lord of the Lost with two songs.. Loreley is the first one I heard and A Splintered Mind is the newest one. Both are absolutely amazing. Sweden about 300 years ago with pirates in Ye Banished Privateers with No Prey, No Pay. Still in Sweden but with Vikings in Amon Amarth with Shield Wall. Lastly let's finish with some wolves in Finland.. I give you Sonata Arctica with The Misery and Full Moon. For actual music videos, Wolf and Raven, and Don't Say A Word.

When Floor Jansen is your "special guest" or "backup vocalist" or anything of the sort, you know you're on a whole new level of awesome.

HenK was actually the Phantom for a time in the Dutch musical and was touted as Andrew Lloyd Webbers' favourite Phantom. With that type of praise and clout you can see why, along with his skill as a performer he is loved by the fans and the Siren Goddess Floor herself.

Props to: Henk, because the (Phantom) part was written for a broad-range baritone with a huge voice. He certainly did it justice. Floor, because, like the Phantom's part, Christine's is challenging as heck; well done. Floor again, just for that note at the end. That's a make or break note right there. And Andrew Lloyd Webber, for writing a score that's been keeping the sock industry going for *decades!* (Knocked *your* socks off, didn't it?) And this is only one piece.

Henk Poort has been 'the dutch phantom' for years. Henk is Floor's childhood idol. He is a classical trained opera/musical singer, and had never sung with distortion before ' the sound of silence' in this show, which he sang to Floor in her episode. Same for this Phantom performance. It also explains the obvious chemistry between the two. Henk agreed to do this song with her on the condition she would also allow him to perform it with her during a Nightwish concert, which basically was something she had always dreamed of, so for Floor it was win/win. Beste zangers is a dutch television format where it's not about competition, but about gathering in love of good music. It features a capable band (Marcel Fisser Band) and each season a different selection of established dutch singers. Each episode is focused on one person, and then the others sing stuff either written by them or with significance to them. This, combined with the intimate setting, makes it a very intimate format. For instance, the song 'Winner' floor sang, was written by the curly dude (Tim Akkerman). He wrote it for his handicapped brother, who's handicap made him has to overcome lots of obstacles, but who's living his live with his head held up high. Tim assured viewers never in the season he would cry, but ofcourse, Floor... well, is Floor.

Hey Kevin Smith! Love the reactions and how you explorer various genres. If you ever feel adventurous, I would love to see you react to a rock solid band from Denmark who's been around since 1984 and is very much loved there. The band is named DAD (Or D:A:D, D-A-D, Disneyland After Dark) and one of their most awesome songs is called "Sleeping My Day Away". The Live version of this song includes a 5 minute guitar solo, and I think you would very much enjoy this song and many others from this band.
