I remember the first time I heard this song. I was 13 and the radio came on with this. That Christmas my sister bought me my favorite Metallica album to date. Ride the lightning!
Metallica is one of the reasons metal heads from the 80s are so well adjusted as adults. We had an outlet for our emotions, the entire range of them. Especially the anger you can have as a teen/young adult.
Love seeing a younger generation being exposed to (and enjoying) Metallica, Randy Rhodes (Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist), and Jimi Hendrix! Long live rock and metal! Metallica is my G.O.A.T but I can't argue with Rhodes as a guitarist or Hendrix as a guitarist and writer!
The fact that you said you don’t need any lyrics, you could jam out to the guitar riffs made me so happy. You have to hear the song the call of Ktulu and to live is to die. Some of the best guitar riffs ever recorde by Metallica
Metallica is an iconic metal band because they are way more than just head-banging, crushing riffs and shredding guitar solos producing metalheads. They are truly musicians who's range and scope of composition, musicality and songwriting is profound. You must check out some of their instrumental songs, such as, Orion, Call of Ktulu, and particularly, To Live is to Die. These songs will make you see them in a whole new light, and surely expand your appreciation them.
@@jav6390 Don't go around saying something so awful. What happened was tragic and shouldn't have happened to any of them. One should not speak so callously about tragedy, much less wish it to have happened upon someone else. Disgusting behavior.
@@jav6390 that's a fucked up thing to say.. you might prefer cliff as a person but wishing death on lars is disgusting. it shouldn't have been anyone in that situation
This & Enter Sandman were both influenced by " Hell's Bells". The build up and everything is strikingly similar. Different chords and tempo, but definitely heavily influenced by AC/DC.
Metallica is one of those few bands who have been not only relevant and still selling out arenas since the 80s but has had massive hits in every decade since. They are actively working on new music still.
@@dizubstylee7993 it’s just nowhere near their old stuff but it’s still great music, better than most modern stuff quite honestly (talking about metal only even).
As a 55 year old man who has listened to Metallica from the start and still does. It’s cool to see the younger generation getting into them. I’m telling you guys that if the come to an area near you please go see them live . I’ve seen them four times over the years and three years ago was the last time. They still tour and are as good now as ever before. So go see them !!
I don’t know thanks man I’m not going to go see Metallica play all that silly whatever it is they do wrong I love heavy duty rock ‘n’ roll, but Metallica was it because it’s like 1988 give me a break
I just said I can’t imagine anybody going to see Metallica floor times and having to put up a James Hetfield going yeah yeah yeah good curry I slit my wrist before I did that
Listening to another Siri listening to another time. These guys play ride the lightning or anything vibe is just would be the most boring thing I can possibly imagine. Oh my God you must be easily entertain. You have to go see these guys for July. I am slapping my knees man hilarious.
And I love how you tell everybody how old you are like anybody could care less.… And then you admit to go and see Metallica four times. One of the most boring rock ‘n’ roll bands still thinking they are rocky.… This band is a flipping Trainwreck.
Watching these four gentlemen trying to recount some type of understanding about this music is nowadays completely pitiful. Good God these poor guys this music is so over and so so overrated now it did not age. Well I’m sorry what joke
You should do another reaction video to 'For Whom The Bell Tolls'... But this time react to their live performance from August 31 1985. The main reason you need to react to this version is for the LEGENDARY Cliff Burton, probably the GREATEST Bass player of all time!! And his intro into this live performance is werth it alone.
Metallica is the best band of all time! So glad you guys are reacting to the best! Here’s one that is amazing. “… and justice for all”. This song opens up so badass your necks will be sore from bobbing your head so much. Metallica is truly number one. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like Metallica.
To me this is brothers showing the way how to understand each other. I hope there is metal heads out there reflecting over black (or any) culture too the same way.
Metallica just celebrated their 41st year of being in rock and metal music! They r without a doubt the greatest metal band to ever grace us with their music! Glad u r listening and giving them a chance cuz every song is a masterpiece and has a deep meaning!
It's hard to imagine it's been that long. I am an older metalhead (46), and I was too young to remember or even appreciate "Kill Em All" when it came out in 1983, and, yet, they are still going strong!
Metallica’s first four albums. I’ll give black album a nod too but after that they went downhill massively. I’d say Metallica, Megadeth and Pantera are the 3 best of this genre for sure. Slayer and anthrax can’t hold a candle to those bands.
Jimmy Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhodes, Jimmy page, Brian May are elites at their craft. That really only scratches the surface. What gives Metallica their signature sound is the Bass guitar playing of Great Cliff Burton and after tragically losing him in a freak bus accident Jason Newsted. With multiple guitars, hard hitting drums by Lars Ulrich, and Strong vocals by James Hatfield Metallica is one of a kind. Their distinctive sound and style will alert you right away that Metallica is in the house!!! Bang your head
This proves no matter where you come from, what your background is, or what color your skin is Music connects us all salute to these 5 gentlemen 🙏🏼 METALLICA RULES 🤘🏼👽🤘🏼 ✌🏼 PEACE!
True.. but, we all know Metallica is mainly a white man's music. Til this person of color& a female at that heard them. Now, it's Metallica or nothing at all. Not too many females are even into Metallica. And if they are. It's bc of their other half.. Rock On
@@missygeno4391 that is such an inaccurate comment. There are many many female metal heads… that love and appreciate Metallica and their music. I’m one! Been a fan since 12 years old. And it’s not because of a boyfriend.. me and my sister jammed out to Metallica megadeth slayer ozzy.. all of it!
The intro for this song can be translated into a good vs evil scene. One of my favorite songs from this song. When I'm at the gym I blast this song thru my headphones on my last set and go all out everytime. 🤘
Omg...I used to have this on a cassette tape on a Walkman, and would blast this while walking to school. Now I'm just an old lady. This song never gets old....but I did. 😬 Time marches on..
I love seeing people hear my favorite songs for the first time. I think it's great that you all have an open mind and gave metal a chance. It's not as popular as it used to be, but it's amazing music.
From 3:14 to like 3:45 that's the greatest reaction to Metallica I've ever seen and the way I would wish everyone reacted when I showed them back in the day 🤣
You guys have great taste in guitar players, for sure. I love watching people discover metal. Thanks for being open to it, the heavy metal community is very open and accepting of everyone, but we recognize that our image is a little off putting, so I personally don't blame anyone for being hesitant to approach the music. I'm glad y'all were able to look past it and discover some awesome music.
Timeless masterpiece. This Album came out in 1984, and it's 2024 I'm listening to this everyday! FWTBT, Ride the Lighting, Creeping Death, Fight Fire with Fire 🌩🔥
Talk about memories!! This is a song we used to play when I was in a band as a teenager! One of the first songs I learned how to play on the guitar. Thank you guys❤
Gary Moore was the guitarist that made one of you cry. Don't cast your vote for greatest guitarist until you've seen Prince play While My Guitar Gently Weeps, or Clapton, or Eddie Van Halen. You've gotta listen to some new Metallica too - The Day That Never Comes and All Nightmare Long are amazing.
Watching you guys experience these songs for the first time brings back memories of when I first heard these songs. My friends and I dissected every riff, every word, but then repeatedly listened, enjoying and appreciating every bit of the song. I would love to see you guys react to some Jollymon (grunge band from the 90s, they recently released a new album, 2016 I think? Void Walker, it is beautiful)
I saw Metallica in 1989 with The Cult as the opening band. It was in support of their "And Justice For All" tour. Every song was as good or better live. These guys play all these songs note for note live. By the way, you guys should check a song by their opening band that year, The Cult. "Fire Woman" is a great song of theirs. It's worth it to watch the official video to see how energetic The Cult is on stage. Especially their singer Ian Astbury, who has one of the best rock voices ever, in my opinion.
From a longtime Metallica fan this is in my opinion one of if not the best rock bands ever! Their sound is unique so much so that no matter where you are if a Metallica song comes on you know it's them!
Great, great reaction. Love Metallica and their vast catalogue. Even their failures just add to the legacy. Their greatness also enabled them to create music that they could play for decades live and often even improving on the studio versions.
45 year old white dude here, love watching you guys appreciate good music. If you haven't done cemetery gates, or walk by Pantera then please get on it.
The best version of this song is at Day on the Green at the Oakland Coliseum when Cliff Burton was still alive. The intro solo was bass guitar. Cliff was the best metal bassist ever.
As a metal head who listened to Metallica since day 1 and it has always been and always will be my favourite band I love watching your reaction videos. ❤
Every Church in the olden days had bells, and they would ring them For funerals and during times of war. Everybody worships in a different way in my eyes this is a tribute to anyone that was made to fight in the war and didn't come home. The bells are key to understanding are fallen soldiers.
I was born in PR in ‘95 but MAN, my father put me on to some cold music growing up. Metallica for me was a little enjoyable secret between my father and I
I've got to say, channels like your guy's are kind of a drug for me at this point. I love seeing people's reactions to things they're not typically into or exposed to, like y'all with Metal, Bill Burr, etc. I love to see it, especially with metal, not just seeing your take on it, but to see y'all look up the meanings, seeing the song in a new light, and just jamming out. Honestly the biggest reason is that it gives me hope for the future just seeing people willing to try new things, willing to see things from different perspectives and thinking outside the box that society, as a whole, tries to put all of us in.
One of the best songs ever put out by Metallica was The call of Ktula. It’s about 8 1/2 minutes long, but a very emotional song…even though it has absolutely no lyrics! You need to look up what the song is about before you listen to it to understand the mood/tempo changes. I highly recommend this song! It’s one of the best guitar playing songs ever!
I've misheard a lot of lyrics in my time and have heard this song a million times. Never did I think the opening line was what you guys heard. Thanks guys, I'll never hear it the same again. Keep up the good work. How about Metallica "Dyers Eve". It's a Banger!!!
One of my favorite Metallica songs. As far as guitar players You should check Eddie Van Halen. and for drums you should listen to the great Neil peart from Rush
To Live Is To Die is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard in my life! As a mixed kid like Brock I grew up listening to all kinds of different music and Metallica was one of the bands that had a profound impact on my youth. Musical geniuses with some pretty deep lyrics. If you guys want to hear some pure musical talent with minimal lyrics check this song out. Off of the And Justice For All album (their best album probably) it's a little long but well worth a listen!
Love this. Metallica some of the best workout/lifting music there is. Love seeing younger generations get into it (I'm 34). Stranger things did a great thing for Metallica and introducing the kids to real metal
@@robstaaass Metallica concerts were awesome in the 80s. Packed to the gills with teenage metal heads. No security, everybody smoking, wild chics. Probably the best show was 89 with Queensryche Operation Mindcrime. Had backstage passes. Stillgot the ticket somewhere. lol.
@@jareddyer3142 Yeah it is bro. It's introducing Metallica to a demographic of kids who would never ever listen to it otherwise. They would keep on listening to the mostly trash that's out today.
Go see them live. Keep digging into their catalog. Worth the money for the experience. You could make a great video. Before, during and after the concert.🤘🎸🤘
@@nickninja52 for me ride the lightning just has a sound and feel that none of their other albums can touch plus it was the first album of Metallica's that I owned so maybe im a bit biased to that one. MOP is a great album theres no denying it I mean battery, leper messiah, disposable heroes and obviously the title track are all metal classic's but for me ride the lightning will always hold rank above the others.
As an old metallica fan, it's always a pleasure to see great reactions for this special band. I think you should listen to a song called "Dyers eve"... Trust me on this one..... 🤘🤘 Keep up the good work with your channel.
I love watching their reactions for the first time. I remember the first time I heard Metallica, almost 40 years ago, it was very similar then… lol… Rock on!!! 🤟🏻
You guys have become metalheads!!! 😊😂 Great work all - enjoy the journey! Next suggestions: Creeping Death Moscow 91’… (played after Enter Sandman which you all watched). Record version - Disposable Heroes… imo their best song… Hammett makes the guitar bleed nearly…
Yes! The S&M versions are good and anyone who disagrees can exit stage left because we don't need that kind of negative energy. Lulu is prolly the only thing by Metallica that I outright dislike.
I’ve said this before but Metallica had a very early contributor named Lloyd Grant that was a black dude. Most metal bands dgaf about race. Glad to see you guys all headbanging. That was me in my friends in the 80’s to this exact song. Also a pretty cool guitar player recommendation to react to would be Steve Vai’s Teeth of the Hydra 🤯
Oh....one more thing.... When they played this song, Cliff Burton came out and was under a single purple spotlight...I'll never forget it, ever..... And proceeded to make every man, woman and child in Ft. Waste, IN. feel their hearts beat in their chests as he played the intro to this.... It was that perfect and that loud!!! No shit!!! He was INCREDIBLE!!! CLIFF EM' ALL BABY!
I enjoy your videos. They're fun. And you guys are opening your minds to incredible music. Intelligent and interesting songs written and performed by extremely talented people. I'm not sure if most people really understand how complicated and difficult it is to play instruments and flawlessly (or almost) record them. Keep going, you guys. You should make a video of all of your top 10 songs so far. There is so much more to discover. Its fun when people first get in to and learn songs that I have been loving for so many years. A request, if i may. Please do some reaction videos for the first Limp Bizkit album titled "Three Dollar Bill Ya'll". Please everyone, trust me. This album is incredible. Literally, incredible. You're all gonna love it. ✌🤘
