Its because he record the song in a confortable tone to his voice. In his baritone zone. In old songs he have lot of midles G and A notes who make to a baritone a very difficult zone to singing because he sings in his limit. With load and reload he started singing in a low tones, very more confurtable to his Voice 🤘🏻

Jason is the bass player I grew up with, and I have a definite soft spot in my heart for him, but even though Rob's vocals aren't as good , and even though that crab walk + spinning around shit looks fucking stupid, he's Metallica's bass player. He's the guy Metallica chose. He's earned his spot in the band, and it's past time to let this go. Besides, I'm sure Jason is completely happy with his life as it is. Why on Earth would he be interested in returning? Let it go.
