The Load album. Man, I enjoyed it at the time and I still like it now. I went years not listening to it because I got into heavier stuff but now I appreciate it.
I still like it just as much as I always did and to this day instead of listening to the songs that they put out as singles, I prefer to listen to some of the deeper cuts on that record. As you've mentioned in your videos as well, the '90s were a weird time. Ha
Great story, I miss the old days! I was sixteen when it came out and didn’t care for it. I like now that I’m an old man. I did see them that summer of 96 on the lollapalooza tour.
There are lots of albums that did that fur me too. Didn't care for when they came out but as I got older I love them. I missed that Lollapalooza tour. But saw them so many times in the 96/97 tour then the summer 98 tour
In all honestly Load is good albums. I wasn't upset that they changed directions, I still have some killer memories to it. Funny enough it was the only metal album my mom and dad like. So when I listen to it, it's like hanging out with my parents again.
That's pretty cool dude. Good to have those memories of your folks as well. I really like the album and I don't hate reload but it seems like they could have just made load like 15 16 songs and cut some of the fat that ended up being on reload
Awesome memories man! I was definitely taken by surprise when this album came out. I didn't check out though, just obviously not into this and Reload as much as anything before or after. At that time in my life there wasn't really much happening with buds and stuff to connect on, so that's part of it. Nowadays I actually really like both these Load and Reload albums (there's no Metallica I don't like) though combining both would've made a monster album imho. Good stuff Brett! Did you ever finish college? Or is it still a case of, haven't finished...YET! Lol! Cheers bud! 🍻✌️🤘🎶🤘
Thanks man. When I say I don't like reload, it's really hard to make that statement because I love everything Metallica's ever put out. It's just a case of reload being one of my least favorite of the albums they put out. I love load and reload has some really great songs but there are some songs in my opinion that are just filler on that album. I wish they just would have made the double album And yes I did finish college. I even went back after finishing up and got my master's degree in military history and I'll combined it still only took me just 6 years lolol.
I still enjoy that album...Wish they would play more off that album We got lucky since we're old and got to see them live during that album tour.. Nice shirt too..One I don't have..😂
Load is a killer album!! I don't think Metallica has put out a bad album even St Anger has some killer tunes on it. I really dig when a band changes sound and does something different, like Motley Crue Dogs Of War I absolutely love that song.
I completely agree. I didn't dislike saint anger. Way too many killer riffs to be a bad record. Death magnetic hardwired and 72 seasons are excellent records as well.
I really like Load, it's just too damn long. About an hour in I'm just bored with it. I think with Load and Reload, they could have cut a bunch out and come up with two killer albums. I hated their new look on load more than their new sound.
I feel that way on reload. Like I felt they could have cut half these songs on reload and then thrown the other ones on load. Or just maybe come up with the 12 best songs between the two and only done one album? And then maybe if they had taken the rest of it and done like a kind of release where they're like. Hey, these are unreleased tracks. I bet fans would have bought it up even though the songs weren't as good
@@harmlessrebel868 yes. The Beyond Magnetic EP. 3 of the four songs were definitely good enough to make the album. I was lucky enough to get tickets to Metallica's 30th Anniversary parties at the Fillmore in San Francisco. They played four shows. I went to the first two and each show they debuted one of the songs from that EP. I can remember thinking how cool it was to hear those live for the first time
