Oh great. Spend some time on a simulator to get comfortable with how the sticks control the quad. When you fly for the first time for real give yourself plenty of space, the first flights can be very unnerving as we are now flying something that can be damaged and we spent money on it. Slow and steady, enjoy the flights, even the most modest of flights, it takes time to get comfortable and feel as though we are in control....even after 6 years I still crash. Crashing experiences are valuable as well. We learn how to make the crash less dramatic as we can foresee we are going to crash.

I'll bet you can build a similar whoop as this - with this new Walksnail 1S board, and it could weigh less than 30 grams! Yup, that's a WHOLE 10g, or 25% of what this BetaFPV whoop weighs. BetaFPV always screws up when making a product! We can build it better! A whole lot better!

Nice review, it is cool to see how far tiny whoops developed. From back in the day with brushed motors and glued on bad looking analog 25mW setup to now a very good flying HD with OSD and onboard storage. Maybe the next big step is way better batteries (solid state)? Or what else needs "big" improvements?
@NickBurnsFPV

@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV Год назад
I suggest making a video you would want to see. Sure it will be different after a while, but if you don't enjoy it others aren't likely to. I find with analog video to present it via youtube I resize the video to look more closely to what I see in the goggles, so I don't stretch it out to cover 16:9, I use a background and the dvr file over the top. Video rendering makes a difference as well. We either have to learn the settings to use with the program of choice, or use something like Adobe premier which does a nice job without tweaking much.
@HaggalaisFPV
@HaggalaisFPV Год назад
Biggest problem I'm having at the moment is dvr rolling and flickering I only have the transporter 2 goggles from the rtf kit from emax and new goggles are expensive. I know if I got a drone with the built in dvr I could bypass the problem .but i dont want to sacrifice the way i fly. I also don't know if a peanut cam would even fit /fly on a tinyhawk 3

I wish the VTX also could run 2-3S - I either go with Walksnail to get HD video in a 2.5 inch quad or go with HDZero with the whoop lite yet it is only 200mw max. Walksnail is 350 mw. Given this is the state of things for microquads, Nick, would you recommend going with HDZero or Walksnail for microquad builders?
@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV Год назад
We can run the walksnail off of a 5v pad off the flight controller. I build one this way. As to which way to go, if the highest priority is image quality then we go walksnail, if flying fast is the priority we go hdzero, the lower consisten latency does make a difference, especially when flying inside. The one I built is 2s and I can certainly notice the variable latency. If it was consistent and higher than hdzero it could be something we adjust to, but with it changing and inside flight having less tolerance for error I feel I crash much more often. If range is a higher priority than latency then we go walksnail. Hope it helps.

Just got it some weeks now. Its ok to cruising flights in inv. where bigger quads would bring lot more stress.. guerillawhooping xD. Took it to a shopping center and gyroflowed the vtx video. With some patience I got the esc flashed to bluejay and 96khz - get about 3:30 min on an 450mah bt20. Without I got normaly 2:30-2:45min. It's OK for cruising. @KOrnhOliO1
@KOrnhOliO1 Год назад
I wish BetaFPV had some other people to consult when they build a new product. Why? Because they ALWAYS screw it up! Every single time! I mean....at least they are consistent, right?! 🙄 This new whoop weighs in at just less that 40g. With an ultralight, 1S only, WalkSnail whoop board - specially designed to make it as light as they possibly can...because it's all about weight with whoops! But they blew it! We all know the DJI digital system has a bummer flaw in the size and weight of the Caddx Vista. Even naked, it weighs about 15+g with nano camera and antenna. So, when I see this just under 40g WalkSnail whoop, my first question was "why is it so damn heavy? A guy from Europe, here on RU-vid, races his 35g 75mm DJI whoop and competes really well with it. WHHAAATTT? How is this BetaFPV WalkSnail whoop, with one tiny board and a tiny camera, weighing a whole 5g more than the much heavier equipped Caddx Vista 75mm whoop? Because BetaFPV blew it, once again! I never buy a product from BetaFPV if it doesn't have a V3 or higher in the back of the model number! They are a BETA releasing company - it's right in their name - they release untested, Beta Products and YOU the customer, debug it, fine tune it, and Beta Test it for their company. FACT. I would think this whoop would be around 5g, maybe a little more, less weight than the DJI 75mm whoop weighing in at 35g. Nope, it's 5g heavier! Why? Because of several reasons...First off, they always use full size canopies that weigh too much! Secondly, and they did this with their older released 75X DJI digital whoop, they use the wrong motors! 1102 motors are the first mistake others make when designing a 75mm whoop! It's the first thing that 35g Vista whoop designer said to me when describing his. It makes the whoop too heavy? What do most ultralight 75mm whoops have in common - they DON'T use a heavy motor like an 1102. They use a much lighter, but still plenty powerful enough 0802. That saves us a ton of weight - AND...That's what whoops are all about! Next, BetaFPV used a circular polarized antenna. We can shave about a gram there too. Dipoles give superb range with DJI or WalkSnail digital. Not owning this, I can't find all of the weight savings measures a person could do if they built this themselves, but I'm sure there are a few more ways to save weight. I'll bet someone good at ultralight building of whoops can build a 75mm WalkSnail whoop that weighs less that 30 grams! I'm sure of it! It'll take some planning, and weighing, but it can be done! If you are in the WalkSnail ecosystem, please do it and report back here or show it to Nick! We need more building from individuals, and less from the "I don't get it" manufacturers! YOU CAN BUILD IT BETTER...! 😎🤘

Do you think 2s tinywhoop batteries last any longer than 1s tinywhoop batteries? The ampereage draw is in theory halved for the same power so the battery should be less stressed
@Wild_FPV
@Wild_FPV Год назад
That's true, but you also add more weight moving to 2s batteries. In reality it depends on a lot of things like the weight, props, motors, specific batteries.
@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV Год назад
we do have to "scale" for 2s as well. a good many 1s motors will burn up on 2s full throttle. Weight, prop and motor kv all change the equation of flight performance and flight time. Generally yes with nearly all things about the same 2s increase flight time and performance.

@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV Год назад
I would suggest not cliipping the battery tray off but use it to route the velcro strap. If we did cut the battery tray off the space between the motor connectors and what is left of the frame/battery tray is very small/tight. Or if we route the other way the upper battery tray supports are much thinner than the lower portion that might be cut off. But is it an option ...yes.
