Thank you Fr Josiah, I really appreciate this video and the St Raphael of Brooklyn one. I was born and raised Maronite Catholic so I am very Lebanese, and I am now Eastern Orthodox in a ROCOR church and. It is hard sometimes uprooting ur entire heritage religion , but reading about Lebanese Orthodox holy people has been my favorite gift.

That’s just where Christ guided me to Orthodoxy. Also all the Antiochan in my area are Arab ethnic clubs, I’m tired of it. I grew up in it.

Sadly, you present false information. "The antidote for Christianity is literacy." I notice you have all the answers, having your little bible at hand, except how you can possibly think your faith is respectable. Not everyone can pretend God made Mormons so Christians would know how Jews feel. If Jesus Christ had a competent God, then the Jews would be buying it, they settle for Moses, world's worst navigator, guiding the people of God as if progress can be made with one foot in fantasyland. We "know them by their works". They indoctrinate children with a fictional vocabulary & speak of signs. The only sign given is Jonah: Being outnumbered by a wicked generation of believers, was tossed overboard. Like a silly believer, he even asked for it. The Book of Jonah 11 Then they said to him, "What shall we do to you, that the sea may quiet down for us?" For the sea grew more and more tempestuous. 12 He said to them, "Take me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will quite down for you; for I know it is because of me that this great tempest has come upon you." Rsv It is by faith Jonah was picked up and tossed overboard, being mindless, he asked for it.

I was blessed to be received into the Holy Orthodox Church while a theology student at a Pentecostal university through the Antiochian Archdiocese on Holy Saturday of 1995. I appreciate this tribute to Met. Phillip, because I knew very little about him. As someone drawn to monasticism when I first converted, I heard negative things about his lack of interest in establishing monasteries in the U.S., which I allowed to scandalize me a little. Forgive me. May his memory be eternal!

May Metropolitan Phillips memory be eternal. He was a wonderful man of God and certainly missed. Dare I say, and not to discount any elders contributions to the Orthodox Church in America, he may well be on par with St. Herman of Alaska for what he did in growing and developing the church in this country.

Thank you Father for this video. It is amazing to have it. And to be given that list of things that can be done during great Lent. Fortunately I already have a list of things that will be done. I will not tell them to you because I believe that the fastest between the father and the person and that shall not be stated to anyone I am very fearful of telling people my plans. Cuz I don't want to receive glory for doing these things. I wish to receive Glory from God not from Friends and family so I shall keep it to myself but that list is a great list. I shall keep it in the back of my head

Father, how would a united American Orthodoxy work if our jurisdictions are on different calendars? Would the traditions of each jurisdiction go away? Not saying I’m against it, just wonder how it would work.

We would most likely have to reconcile on a particular calendar. Most likely the new calendar as it’s the most common

Realistically at this point there would probably be two jurisdictions one centered around ROCOR on the old and one centered on the OCA on the new. Until there is a pan Orthodox council settling the calendar issues that would probably be the only way to handle it with minimal strife and schisms.

With the new developments His All Holiness -Pope- Patriarch of Constantinople, and his right hand His Grace Archbishop Elpidophoros, have recently introduced, calendar is the least of our worries. I heard of single OCA parishes maintaining the old calendar, and (abnormal as it is,) it does not compromise the integrity of OCA.

Then please educate the community and clergy in Torrance of these beliefs. They are not promoted there. Seems to be moving in the opposite direction of these visions. Including Palestinian flag at community events and only Byzantine chant and no beautiful Church Slavonic is allowed at all.

It’s like flying the flag of Hamas. How will Jews/American-Israelis feel welcome in the Orthodox Church with that brand of tribalism and ethnic identification? I can answer. They won’t.

Which beliefs are you referring to? 98% of the Liturgy(including chanting) at St. Matthew is in English. Byzantine chant is traditional which is a good thing! Lots of different ethnicities at St. Matthew as well. 🙂
