Hola chicos! Visit “Mercado Roma”, located in Queretaro street. Very cool place with lots of eating businesses. Check the Balmori rooftop in 139 Zacatecas st. Walk along Álvaro Obregón street. Lots of restaurants and cafes. Walk along Colima street too. Beautiful. Next to Roma is Condesa neighborhood. Tons of cafés. Go to Parque México. Lovely. And please walk Amsterdam avenue! Along the central median strip (the street is an oval and Parque México is in the middle of it). Another close lovely neighborhood is Juarez. Visit there the “Comedor Lucerna”. Very pretty place to eat with many options and with friendly people. In 51 Lucerna st. Walk around the neighborhood. Lovely. CDXM is very gay friendly. You can walk hand in hand and show your affection with no concern. I always do. Hehe. I love you guys and Im very happy you’re visiting my city. Feel free to ask for directions or I’ll gladly tour you to interesting places in the city. Hope you have a blast here. Abrazos y besos! ☺️
Hello, Travis! Years later, I am finally following in your footsteps and heading to Roma/Condesa! My sweet Doug and I used to watch but since he passed, I decided to go on my own between this Christmas and NYE. You’ve further inspired me to travel solo and make memories! I hope this finds you, healthy, happy and adventuring.
This makes me want to move there!! My dogs would be in heaven and I would too. Thanks for another great video! I love when you guys dance in front of the city signs - it always brings me joy!
I first moved there in 2004 during the early years of gentrification and was shocked when I returned nearly 10 years later to see how many more restaurants, cafes, and high-end condos had opened up. It's virtually become like La Condesa, my favorite neighborhood.
Roma Norte is such a cool neighbourhood! We were there at the beginning of 2020 and we absolutely loved it there. Yeah I need my natural light as well. Love the dancing 🕺
Love Roma Norte. I was doing the same, constantly saying, wow! Look at that place, or let’s go in here. My first trip to Mexico City we stayed in zona rosa, right near there. Next trip we were right near the centro zocolo because we were there for Day of the dead week, and hitting lots of museums. But next trip once I’m finally there in Merida, will be Roma Norte when I jaunt to cdmx
In 2017 I stayed in Roma Norte in an Airbnb across the street from Cafe Toscano, I loved sitting at a sidewalk table with my café and sweets in the morning watching ALL THE DOGS and their humans stroll the Luis Cabrera park. I really loved Cabrera 7 restaurant on the edge of the park there (PS, I recognize that red wall mural, it brings back all the memories!!!)
Hi guys! I just want to say that I’m still waiting for my wedding invitation… It doesn’t matter if it is in Cancún or Mérida. Love the vid! Be safe and stay healthy!
I'm from Roma Sur, the next 'hood, just south from Roma Norte as you cross Alvaro Obregon Ave. It is not as grand as Norte, but it also has some very nice and cozy places. Go visit the Mercado Medellin, for food from all over Mexico and South America
Hello you two!! This is a fun and wonderful video! I'm a subscriber already as Chuck D., but I decided to add you two to my other channel because I didn't want to miss an episode while I'm working. Can't wait to see where else you go! You should consider having a meet-up when things get a little safer. We would come to Mexico and spend some time. Maybe Guadalajara... Let us know!~ CathyD
Hey guys! For some reason RU-vid withheld this comment and we're just seeing it now - thanks so much for the kind words and we're definitely hoping to have some in-person meetups soon!
I would bet that if you knock on doors, many people would allow you in to view their homes. Good on you for being honest about the Airbnb. Would be great for lots of people but not everyone. - Anne
Gentlemen! You've done it again. On my way! I was explorung Merida last week while you were exploring CDMX. Maybe we will cross paths in another city? Take care!
Roma Norte is great, but I prefer La Condesa. Colonia Juarez and Colonia Cuauhtémoc (on opposing side of Reforma by the Angel) are also great. Polanco is posher. I also like Granada (north of Polanco, on the north side of Ejército Nacional), fairly quiet and residential on its better streets. Santa Maria la Ribera is also nice, less popular and less known among tourists and expats, also affordable. One thing about CDMX... most neighborhoods have a theme for their streets: Juarez is European cities, Cuauhtémoc is rivers, Polanco is writers and philosophers, Granada is lakes. It makes it very helpful to determine in which colonia you find yourself.
@@TravelWTravis So! If you are in Cuauhtémoc, the street names will be Rio Lerma, Rio Niles, Rio Rhino, Rio Danubio, etc. And the north-south, directions east-west directions based on the flow of the rivers (in CDMX there is logic in urban planning). In colonia Juarez, the street names will be Hamburgo, Bruselas, Amberes (Antwerp). So if you ever wonder what side of Reforma Avenue you are on, the street names will indicate it by their theme.
Same concept as in Roma: east-west streets are named after Mexican states. North-south after Mexican cities. These are all little things that make CDMX a marvel in urban planning.
@@mariobruyere9169 Do you know why there is a Calle Medellin in Roma Norte? We will be staying there and it is one deviation from what you explained. Is there a Mexican Medellin that I don't know about?
Omg i think this is your best video to date you gave me history you gave me details and most important off all you he gave us love Did you go to the witches house in Roma Norte
you should also visit Condesa and CU, next time you go to Mexico City, aaand try Cafe El Jarocho @ Coyoacan ... every local does that. It is not fancy but is a tradition. Is a walk-in cafeteria.
Hi. I watch your videos often, well done. Can you tell me the name of the Mexican song at 6:11 in your video. Love that kind of music. Thanks, all the best, Randy.
Thanks Randy! We get all our music from a site called Epidemic Sound (so all the music have copyright clearances) - this track is called "Que" and here's the full thing on RU-vid if you want to check it out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W5WO3a3cqrA.html
Hey I love your videos very informative I am planning to move to Mexico as well. Two questions for you, first so where did you guys finally settled down? Second which, Mexico City best too move if you don't speak Spanish.
Love this!!! This is spot we hope to visit end of year! 😍 Have you visited Gatorta and/or La Pitahaya Vegana? Two places that look delicious online. How is the LGBT vibe there? What were the songs you had playing? Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Is what I was saying too BTW! 😆
Yes! La Pitahaya is actually in the video (David's eating a waffle and Travis has a bowl of fruit) and it was GREAT. We didn't make it to Gatorta though. And the LGBT vibe was wonderful - saw a ton of couples and no one batted an eye at us. It's a real cosmopolitan mix!
thats funny,i always stay in the same airbnb,,i can tell by the unique ceilings i know the architect, and the closed street "cerrada" dont tell anyone where its at ,jaja
We're an interracial gay couple too and I just got back from checking out our apt that we'll be in for 5 weeks next spring in Roma Norte. You guys nailed it, esp. with the dogs. Actually you missed about 5,000,000 other amazing things... but I get you can't upload that long of a vid. Thanks for this.
It's definitely more, the specifics of course depend on where in the city you're at because it's a HUGE place. One great site to explore international cost of living is www.theearthawaits.com!
What has been your experience with the tap water in Mexico City? When I have stayed in other cities in Mexico, I always bought filtered water. I had read that it was OK to drink the tap water in CDMX. Mistake! After a week it hit hard. I spent my second week recovering.
Yikes - sorry to hear that. We didn’t drink the tap water directly, although our Airbnb had a filtration system that worked (and we used bottled water the rest of the time!)
It's definitely more expensive but also so much more to do sooooo we're not sure! We're not sure about living here, but want to spend more time checking everything out!
They're great! Slow and steady and not too much pain, but I actually do notice a difference! Probably have another year with them and can't wait to see the finished result!
Haha don't make us choose! CDMX is waaaay bigger (obviously) and the weather was a bit cooler, but we genuinely liked both for different reasons so it all depends on your preferences!
Is the fact that you guys are an interracial couple have to do with name of your RU-vid channel ? And you put the name in Spanish because you are in México? Awesome if it is, still awesome of it isn’t. Love the videos.
