lets try again...this is non scripted thrills, spills ev style - it's essentially a VLOG - audio varies, choppy clips for realism and jibba jabba, this is our first ever fully documented road trip, if you like please say and we'll do more road trips in a range of vehicles, thank you *ben

Good review Ben, thanks. Just put a deposit down on one of these for my wife, we still got the additional £3500 that MG are giving in addition to the government grant so it makes it the most affordable EV of this size by miles. Think we’ve make a good choice 👍🏻

AMAZED with regards to the number of people who dont know how regen actually works. If you have regen on going down a hill, yes you will get around 10-20% back, BUT you loose that and more when you go back up the hill, better to have no regen on highways and only use the regen around town in stop and start situations. Remember that whenever you touch the brakes (thats including regen) your losing efficiency, its better to use no brakes at all. HOMEWORK for the weekend, read up on Regen.

Great VLOG guys. I'm going to Reading to test drive this car on October 7th. I drive a daily commute of 46 miles, mostly motorways between Camberley and Heathrow. So it was interesting to see you 70mph range test. I currently drive a VW Golf TDI and find sticking to 60mph on the motorways makes a big saving on fuel so I think it may be the same with EVs. Great fun to watch! 😃

Excellent video well done, i have been looking at ev for the first time and this is definitely a car i am considering, i do not have the ability to have a home charge point so this was always a concerning for me, however you have alleviated these worries as on this video you fast charged at Waterlooville which is about 4 miles from my home and with the daily mileage i do i would only need to visit this point every 8-9 days and at the charge cost albeit higher then others is still a lot cheaper then to fill my diesel tank for a month costing me £85 + for about 450 miles, by my calculations £12.50 per 150 miles is still a saving of about £50 a month, i have fully subscribed and will continue to watch the series, thank you

What a great video showing the new MG and the use of charging. Ive been driving for 5 years Tesla Model S P85 in the UK for 85K miles. Looking forward to the latest breed of EVs bringing down prices and broadening choice I wont swap from Tesla but we all have different needs. I think you will find the main reason the projected range goes up when you hit the towns is the reduced speed and the GOM (Guess O Meter) calculates range based on average driving so if you have been recently driving quick in a low miles car it will underestimate your range if you go slower, over time and use it gets more accurate, but its trying to be a crystal ball! I agree regen helps but as a proof if your out of the town and just drive slow you will get the same or better result. The Physics remains, pushing energy back into the battery has a % of waste, its better than using the brakes but cant beat anticipating on the road and keeping a constant slower speed. Power diminishes as the battery drops just like if batteries in a torch go down the light gets dimmer, yes there may be a software limit to what energy you can draw on a low battery pretty much all EVs do this, as much to protect the battery (Lithium Ion batteries dont like heavy current draw when near flat) as give you a longer range on that last bit of energy left. But great demo of the MG and as you say the responsiveness of the EV power train is like nothing else....no going back!

Hi Mark, we were getting 1-to-1 ratio up to 70 mph, and about 1-to-1.5 range with higher motorway speeds, so it uses more battery power the faster you go. It didn't seem to be affected by anything turned on in the car though...*Annabelle

@@PlanetautoUK sorry I don't understand your answer What is a 1 to 1 ratio? In relation to range ?
@vladzis
@vladzis 4 года назад
Just to correct: granny cable is 2.4kW max (UK legal limit, 10A constant); Type 2 is 7.5kW max, not 7.5-50kW, it's limited to 32A for this particular model; CCS is up to 85kW, but Instavolts giving you 50kW only, you may try some Alfa Power units of passing Leeds area, they give up to 120kW, but not all. Another thing, when lady said 35p per kW, it's per kWh (kilowatt-hour). Flow is measured in kW (kiloWatt), amount/capacity in kWh's. Or, if it's easier to you, I think pretty soon term 'unit' will be accepted, say MG ZS EV has battery capacity of 44.5 units accessible/available. Lots of info in FB MG group
