A video showing almost every secret and interesting gameplay mechanic in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Project Start: Sep 12 2018 Project End: Oct 6 2018 ► Discord: / discord
AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! "Snake is dead." "Really dead already huh? Damn." Summary of every boss comment on you faking your death for the first time in mgs3
Fun fact. In MGS4 Snake will lose stress by being in a box. I figured this out because I remembered the codec call in MGS3 where he says "I feel at peace inside the box"
When you kill Ocelot, the game over screen will appear, but the first time will award you the "Problem Solved, Series Over" achievement, as killing him will end the series prematurely.
While playing this game, the Spider bad guy who shoots crossbow bolts managed to hit Snake in the dead center of his back. I was not allowed to remove it for the entire game because it was lodged in Snake's spine. So I had to play the rest of the game knowing that every time Snake took cover against a wall or fell on his back or crawled in mud or small vents... that crossbow bolt was getting more and more infected and jostled.
And here i was thinking that was a bug. I never considered the possibility that snake was unable to pull it out. Damn this game is still full of surprises.
There's something i found, if you het hit by The Fear's arrow(s) and you heal most of the wound but not extract the arrow itself. It'll be stuck forever in snake
I've never seen anyone mention the fact that in the beginning when Ocelot gets knocked unconscious, you can shake his body and obtain a single 'Mousetrap'... Kojima is simply telling you fresh out the gate, Ocelot is the rat.
The fact that this video is as long and densely packed with awesome secrets and details as it is and still gets those “you missed this” comments is a testament to how incredible this game is.
There's a ghost variation from the Sorrow boss fight that I never see anyone display. You get it by laying down some tnt next to a magazine and blowing up the tnt while a soldier stares at the magazine. He'll appear in the boss fight holding the magazine exclaiming "I need to see the rest!"
25:50 I love that despite the fact that Snake is at the very bottom of the ladder, this still kills him, and it's from a mushroom that makes him drowsy.
29:56 The fact he lets you join him in the toilet, and Snake just stands there, in a corner, watching him, is just too funny to me. Like, if Snake wasn't a intruder...would he just let Snake see his snake?
There's actually an outcome #5 for your last shootout with Ocelot. If you choose the wrong gun and try to shoot Ocelot 6 times as fast as possible, Snake will close his eyes before Ocelot shot him, before he reveals that it's a blank.
That is absolutely insane! The details in this game just keep showing up as if they're being added to make the game more realistic all the time, but really they just went THAT hard for this game all the way back in 2004!
This is why I have so much respect for Kojima. All these little attentions to detail are things you just don't see in most video games. It helps set this series apart from other franchises.
Yes, nowdays Rdr2 get praise for the details in game, like npc eating stake animated properly, but in kojima games all the details refers to gameplay, story and interactivity. Though i like rdr 2 and rockstar, i prefer kojima's way to make gameworld alive
@@sergeilikhomanov8638 i think both are just as impressive, rdr2 and the details of a kojima game are such a rarity these days that it's best to just appreciate them both, more games should make this.
Rare? If you were lucky to own the book then you would find all the unknowns or even experiment. The book dismantles the whole game , it's fun either way.
You forgot when snake eats the glowing mushrooms how it recharges your batteries and it triggers a funny radio call when paramedic and sigint think snake is crazy for thinking it'll charge his batteries lol
He also didn't include the Save call before the nightmare where Snake mentions to Paramedic that he is freaked out by Vampires and just because they talked about them he might have nightmares tonight
Another easter egg not mentionned in this video: there's a specific kind of mushroom called Russian glowcap mushroom that if you capture and then eat it will not only increase your stamina but ALSO recharge the battery in your electronic equipments. The codec convo you then unlock with Para medic is hilarious as she doesn't believe what Snakes mentions and thinks he is kinda trippin. She even start talking about it to Sigint in the background at some moment thinking Snake doesn't hear her. Another lil' gem of this game:)
this is close to a work of art, the use it does of the whole software of the ps2 not just of the ingame mechanics is really creative. Kojima really is an artist.
can you blame him for wanting to go all out with the extra storage space on the disc? jumping from ps1 to ps2 was like the discovery of man taming horses. stuff that would take multiple ps1 discs suddenly took up a fraction of what you have to work with.
The open world ruined it,metal gear works best in controled environment, he would have just blown out the budget, the plot is bad, the past tech in that game is better than the tech from the future, there was no saving it.
none of us knows what exactly went on during development of mgs5 so your "WHAT IF" argument might not be valid at all, and btw dont praise 1 person for game development because its large team effort, what made past mgs games good was not Kojima but 100 other people whose names you will never know.
That became the subject of a huge inside joke between my friends and family who play mgs, cuz Snake got shot in the ass in my game, and I didn't remove it, and it stayed in his butt the whole damn game lol
During the battle with The End if you remain still for a long time he will eventually sneak up behind you and 1 shot you. I tried this when I first played MGS3 thinking I could sit with the SVD just like he does and wait for him to come into sight and this happened to me
@@ceruleanrock2265 yeah man hahahah this game is so fucking good, back in the day I ended it one time, and then I couldn't do it again because I didn't want to reach the torture scene again, that sent shivers down my spine too
@@ceruleanrock2265 Well, man, I'm Brazilian so, at the time, I wasn't able to understand what he was saying hahahahahahaha but besides that, I knew what he was doing
@Talomations Yep, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. It's a fairly faithful re-release, I don't think there's any cut content from the console versions, although the framerate is locked at 25-30 I think.
@@currentlyunderconstruction1128 I bought it for 3DS and again for Vita. I actually liked the 3DS version better (with the Circle Pad Pro) because the controls felt better. It was missing some graphical effects, though.
41:41 Snake: what's the Konami code! Eva: Up.. Up.. Down... Down... Left right..... Left right..... I can't remember the rest! Snake: Wrong Answer **Slits her throat**
PS: If you get till the end of the death river with the sorrow, you'll get a quiet camo and soldiers will not hear your footsteps anymore. You can also simulate die to end it quickly ..
6:03 Actually, shooting every Kerotan doll gives you the Stealth Camouflage item, like an alternative to completing the game with 0 Alert statuses, which also gives you the Stealth Camo item. The GA-KO camo is actually found in the Chyornyj Prud area (the swamp with the gators what one-shot you if you're swimming). It's next to the exit of the area, facing back towards the swamp and heading towards the left, it's in the shallow water area. Wearing it will make the Kerotan dolls emit a sound every time you unpause the game, making it easier to discern the general location of them, even though its camo rating isn't very high.
13:53 "Disgusting!" "Sick!" "This is so horrible!" "I gotta puke." "Gross." "Not good." "Ugh." "Not good, not good." "That's not great." "What is this? What is this? What is this?"
I played this game as a kid, back then I didn't understand English that well and just didn't pay much attention to little details. Now as an adult it's amazing how much detail they put into this, old games just had so much passion.
same for me, but even back then i did many tricks that are in the video, just a testament to how creative you can get in this game even if given little to no instruction
@@ntvm4749 where does it say that he died tho I know volgin threatened to kill him if he let snake die or killed him but wasn't he in peace walker or mentioned in that game atleast
The End dying from old age just cause you save and didnt play for 2 weeks and you walking away from his exploding corpse is the most hilarious and epic thing ive ever seen
45:50 -Para medic, i caught these strange white snakes. -Hm, lets see that the guide says... Apparently, it says these are your children! -You had to tell me that after I ate them. -Snake, did you just eat your own children? -... -And do you have something to say?! -Delicious! -Cannibal...
Ded Bolt Y'all ever just tell someone your torturing where your 100 billion dollars are with a girl named Tatiana whose actually a triple agent that's trying to find it just to flex on them Snake Niggas
Same here man, The controls confused me a little bit because the only metal gear game I played before was the phantom pain 😅. But now I’ve finished peace walker and now I’m gonna play the first metal gear games.
Step 1: Turn on console. Step 2: Open up game case. Step 3: Remove disc from case. Step 4: Insert disc into console. Step 5: Wait for the game to load. Step 6: Unsubscribe.
as an intellectual, i can say that noone seems to understand that you are not gonna watch the video the same moment doctor tells you, you should say 50min. as an intellectual i can tell that you are no real intellectual
The amount of detail really makes MGS3 shine. No better way to emerge a player in a world then by having its character respond appropriately to the players actions.
Shooting every Kerotan in the game grants you the Stealth camo, not the GA-KO camo. The GA-KO camo can be picked up in Chyornyj Prud, and it has the effect of making the Kerotans audible on the map before you shoot them (making them easier to find). It should be mentioned that even the motorcycle chase sequences have Kerotans in them, so hitting them all is pretty damn hard. It might be easier to simply do a no kill/no alert run, which also grants the Stealth camo.
6:03 Correction, shooting all the Kerotan's grants you Stealth Camo, not the GA-KO camo. To obtain the GA-KO camo you must find it in Chyornyj Prud, and it's use of it is to help the player locate the Kerotan's through callings.
Idk what's more impressive, how good this game is with such janky controls... Or the fact that Kojima is capable of cramming so many tiny details and sandbox elements into a PS2 game, and still has more mechanical wonder than most games today.
I hated the controls at first, but now I prefer them to anything else. The pressure sensitive aspects really put the pressure on you to be sneaky and not get too excited (or you'll slit a throat or throw a guard by mistake)
Came here thinking "I know most of it" and was already blown away by the tricks in the intro with the theme song. Seriously, these games always have something else to show you. Could come out today and wouldn't be any less revolutionary.
Same well I mean by the end part I fight all the bosses with dignity and to prove I am the ultimate soldier that's why I play a lot of army games and just games with guns in general 🔫😎🚬
I've learned of one recently: if you Death Pill near a log trap when fighting the Fear, you can trigger the log trap on waking to instantly and non-lethally defeat him, without needing to poison or inflict further damage.
So almost the entire controller is utilized for just the title screen? Neat. >Snake dies >Eva is dead >Eva starts screaming for Snake What if when The Boss said "this is the end" The End just rises from the grave and kills them both.
44:32 i renember that i was playing and i accidentaly trigger that suit for eva and my parents was there watching the tv, the rest is up to your imagination.
The 3DS version of metal gear solid three is better in my opinion because snake can’t Crouch walk and I am perfectly fine with that it’s just I also played the 3DS version of metal gear solid three first so I’m used to crouch walking I’ve been spoiled Edit i am retarded i somehow spelled snake wrong
There's something i found, if you het hit by The Fear's arrow(s) and you heal most of the wound but not extract the arrow itself. It'll be stuck forever in snake.
I use to play the hell out of it back then. It was fun, especially if you try to beat the boss by only depleting its stamina. ProTip: The Fear's camo is useless.
38:15 combined with the mgs2 torture room guard’s comment would lead us to believe that, since solid is a clone of big boss, ryden canonically has a larger, er, “part”, than snake. Also, when volgin finds you disguised as raikov, he performs a “grab”, and comments that he knows raikov better than anyone else, and that you are not him. This means that raikov is likely larger than big boss. Going off the theme of genetics, we could use this information to conclude that raiden is related to raikov beyond reasonable doubt, as all genetic aspects match up perfectly. We just used the science of girth to determine key mgs lore. Amazing franchise.
@@lorenzooliveira1157 raiden has a large 'part', as shown in the dialog spoken by the guard when lured into the torture room in mgs2; "I wish that where me" or something like that (for context, raider is completely naked and tied to some sort of table frame thing). I explained in my post that BB has a smaller member. daikon therefore has a bigger member. daikon and raider are very similar, and I remember hearing that raiikov left the Russian jungle base after the events of mgs3. therefore it is entirely possible he was raiden's dad, or grandad.
Eva was talking about the size of the transmitter not Naked Snake/Big Boss's dick, I'm pretty sure the gaurd in Mgs2 said what he said because he was into some getting tied up and tortured kind of kinks.
There are no words describing how good this game is, on top of that i believe it was released in 2004 which just adds... This is a masterpiece and lets be honest, we wont get anything even close to it ever.
Here's one you should try. When fighting Fear get shot with arrows and treat them to the fullest BUT don't extract the arrow. When I heals I will become permanent part of body and will not be able to be removed. I belive they even show up in cutscenes. You can have around 6 or so max
I know if you mash the CQC button against The Boss, you can counter her counters sometimes, not sure of the specifics on that, but I remember my brother did it at least once
