Michael and K.I.T.T. are called in to investigate the murder of a federal attorney.
From Knight Rider Season 2 Episode 22 "Mouth of the Snake": Michael and Kitt join forces with an agile freelance agent called David Dalton to investigate the death of a government agent near the Mexican border. Dalton leads the investigation and stays close to Joanna St. John in order to protect her.

you also see the truck that would be the car carrier in white that brought all the knight rider cars to and from the set and the Comtron colored trailers from the pilot episode that was universal’s transportation department vehicles.

@@lookingforahookup no, they are correct. Mouth of the Snake was the only episode that David was not in much at all because of his wedding and that this was to be a spin off of a new tv show.

@@lookingforahookupthey thought debt of roses was to be the last episode of the series ask Joe Huth Voo Doo Knight is ladt one they tried for a fifth season but nbc and universal just could not find a good ground.

This was probably my favorite Knight Rider episode. How I wished they had made David Dalton Michael's recurring "partner" in future episodes, rather than spin him off.

David Dalton (L. Charles Taylor) - The character was first introduced in the two-part episode, "Mouth of the South." The character was originally an action-oriented government agent. In CODE OF VENGEANCE (1985), the character was later reimagined as a flashback-prone Vietnam veteran who drifts across the country, encountering people in trouble, and helping them to find justice with his unique fighting skills. The physical agility, acrobatic skill and martial arts expertise that Dalton displayed in "Mouth of the Snake" was toned down to a simpler, more violent fighting style. Then in May 11, 1986, Dalton later returned in a sequel, "DALTON: CODE OF VENGEANCE II."

The Code of Vengeance is actually available on RU-vid. I watched it, it's pretty good but it looks like the creators couldn't make up their mind about what to do. Code Vengeance is a very slow paced story without many action flicks, untill the end which is a classic shootout. In Mouth of the Snake on the other hands, it looks like they were trying to imitate Hong Kong action scenes, which built up of Japanese Anime. It's totally different to Code of Vengeance, but also totally different to Knight Rider so people who watched Knight Rider might not have been impressed that the car was not not the star this time.
