3:40 is a perfect example of what really made him GOAT: insanely quick and accurate reads of the defense. He sees Patterson is angled off a bit topside then catches and instantly goes past him on the baseline, shields the ball from the big man with his body, and gets the layup. In the process, this 40 year old man makes a young, good defender in Ruben Patterson look like he's standing still. A perfect example of why no defense even today would be able to contain him. There was a similar play against the Mavs from 2003 where he caught it on the same wing near the baseline and makes a couple of quick moves and slices through like 3 Mavs for the easy layup. Zones and semi-zones are too easy for MJ to dominate, because they are always playing in reaction mode on recovery, and there are wide open spaces he can exploit.

Dat footwork. People don't understand the details of the game. It is the small things such as MJ's footwork, ability to move without the ball, use screens, read the defense/floor, timing, etc. that makes him the GOAT (along many other aspects). I just don't see that from Bron, I see some from Kobe but not on the same level as MJ. MJ is GOAT PERIOD

andgar923 - exactly. Just fucking brilliant. He can just get rid of defenders with little, subtle moves. And of course, such a brilliant shooter which forced defenders to have to react to everything he did.

First time I've seen the reverse angle of that Alleyoop. The things he was able to do at 40 is awesome. Now everybody is looking at freak athletes and great players like Antetokounmpo's lenght, Leonards hand... Just remember that Jordan was not that tall, but his flexibility is one of the most remarklable in basketball history. Combining that with his strenght... Is awesome. And last but not least, a detail of this game that has always kept my attention is at 6:51 , you can see the disproportionate size os his hands... Always knew he had big hands beacause of the things he was able to do but.. I have Rare Air book from 1993, which includes the actual size of his hands... Hard to believe that a man of his height have those hands. Truly blessed player.

When I got it, I already knew he has big hands, but I have large hands for my size, so I was guessing about how much did he get over me. Almost a full phalanx over me. As his father one said in an interview talking about how Michael grew that much considering his family height, he answered that God put his sight on him... He had all the tools to be a God of the sport. Sorry for the late answer!

Swishman - definitely - and they're really strong hands. Although Antetokoumpo has longer fingers, MJ's are wider. And Kawhi is almost the same size. But I've never seen them or Pippen able to control the ball and do the shot fakes and pass fakes MJ could. Or the way he could constantly swing the ball around in one hand.

Look how hard the Blazers try to defend Jordan. They're bumping him, staying in front of him. They probably don't want to be embarassed. But Jordan just takes the contact and makes the tough shots. Teams don't defend like that today. Today they just stick a hand up at best.

40 years old, MJ played 41 minutes, bagging 25 pts (most in that game) off 11/19 shooting, with 7 assists and 2 steals. This is unbelievable. Today's players should learn how to move without the ball from this video too!!!

See how he makes the game so simple? he creates space even without dribbling, without the ball, he just fake the defender where he would go and instantly lost them. just total body control and the perimeter shots. take note kyrie!

Jordan catch the ball from a lob and dunk it at age 40 is pretty amazing for a guard.
