You must not listen to him often, he's been critical of the team for most of the year. At times he has too much faith that players "will play to the back of their baseball card" but he usually knows what hes talking about if he isnt talking abouy food or being a good, humble person lol
Cashman has just won one WS 2009; HE INHERITED the winning teams from 1998-2000, those teams were put together by Gene Michael & Bob Watson; his time has passed, time for new ideas, new blood,
Dude stop being so dense and stupid . For your comment to even hold an ounce of truth , you would have to COMPLETELY IGNORE the last 20 years of cashman’s tenure as GM . I mean how do you explain 1 ws appearance in the last 20 years if cashman truly had anything to do with the teams from 95 to 2000?!?! That is just revisionist history at its worst and giving too little credit to stick and watson .
@@snerdterguson he wasnt the head guy and michaels and watson built and developed that core. ever since he took over, the yankees have had a problem with player development (which was paramount to their dynasty)- The only repeat all star inhouse position players we've had on his watch are Cano and Judge in 25 years, so we get 1 a decade.. we havent developed an in house starting pitcher that has lasted more than 2 years (wang, severino). He destroyed Joba, Hughes and Kennedy. his trades recently have been abysmal. in 1999 we traded david wells who was the best pitcher on the 98 team which won 114 games, to get clemens, which could have been looked at as a mistake clemens by the way struggled in 1999, but he did have 2 great games in the postesason. Did he make some good deals to supplement the pre built core for the late 90s dynasty . yes. 2009 he bought a championship - he spent half a billion dollars in free agents and the team still got fortunate with the playoff schedule being so spread out that they could use a 3 man rotation to mask their pitching holes for the entire postseason To sum up hes a GM who operates with many advantages that other teams do not have. namely brand, financial backing and reach/scouting.... the only disadvantage he has is that he cant properly rebuild a team like the tanking rangers and astros did. he can only retool on the fly. Is he going to go to the Hall of Fame. Absolutely, but if you peel back the onion , he hasn't done enough to warrant this long of a rope.
dont forget to get that world series he basically just bought it. Any GM in that position with that financial backing could have threw blank checks at CC, Tex and Burnett
They (Cash & Co.) would rather be right than happy. Happiness being; admitting when your wrong/mistaken and therefore allowing it be corrected, and then moving on in fulfilling your function.
Michael is absolutely spot on. These comments by Cashman were an egregious display of arrogance and totally unacceptable to all of us. His petulance is obvious and the manner in which he expressed himself is way out of bounds. Shame on him.
Cashman showed everyone his true colors yesterday. If there was any doubt from ownership whether or not this guy should have been fired, yesterday’s display of arrogance tells you everything.
This is the source of the culture problem that has been slowly dragging this once class organization down for many years now. Time to cash in your chips Brian. The apple is rotten at the core.
Agreed but he has to be fired and unfortunately Hal doesn't are enough about winning to do it. As long as Hal's cashing checks everything will stay the same
I agree, but we can only hope we are wrong about Hal. I may be delusional, but lately, I think I see slight glimmerings of light coming from Hal???@@petercipriani3307
Cashman's behavior yesterday was totally rude, condescending and embarrassing and showed exactly why I will never step foot in Yankee Stadium ever again until that jackass is gone.
For more than a year I came to believe that Michael Kay is legit and honest. He isn’t a management puppet as many believe. He has his own mind and he speaks with brain and heart. I am not surprised he is pushing on Cashman... that’s the worst media session in Yankees history. He knows Hal has his back.... maybe that’s why he spoke like that.
Michael Kay had a fabulous week with his saleh take and with his Brian Cashman breakdown to a tee. This show shows why they r the best at what they do not in NY. Nationally.
Kay imagine your son listening to Cashman as a little boy. The greatest Franchise in Baseball. It was a disgrace and embarrassment to the organization. HE SHOULD BE FIRED. Hal should be embarrassed even more if he does nothing about this.😊
Cashman is like if George Costanza was real and kept getting promoted. Also nothing will change unless people stop buying tickets/merch/yes subscriptions
The front office is beyond toxic right now. Cashman needed to go years ago and his ego and behavior is poison to the organization and soon it’s gonna start affecting Hal’s bottom line when those yes subscriptions start getting canceled and lower chicken tender box profits
I’m actually sick to my stomach by how he was acting! Saying who was Peraza suppose to take out . How about the 3rd baseman Who was striking out 3 times a game batting below 190? He also really couldn’t take Volpe’s spot? Who batted 211 the whole year. They need to make serious changes Stanton is done Volpe imo will never be a good player. There starting pitching is horrendous. There wasting Gerrit Cole’s Prime. 2 players on the Yankees batted over 250. You will never win a championship with that type of roster! Make serious Changes now!
The championships won in the late 90's were largely due to Stick Michael. Cashman inherited Gene's good work and rode the wave. Subsequently, he has won one championship in 2009, after a major spending spree (Sabathia, Tex and Burnett). I'm sorry, when you have among the highest of payrolls year after year and only one championship truly on your own for nearly 2 and a half decades, it's a failure.
To the fool that keeps bringing up Cashman was the AGM he didn’t even want the players we drafted! Stop rewarding him because he was the assistant! Fool
@@snerdtergusonhe's done a bad job, and he inherited a dynasty, and he won when the Yankees were the only ones spending The league has caught up, and Cashman has been surpassed, exceeded, lapped, outsmarted, outwitted, outperformed. He's now the most clueless GM in baseball
@@snerdterguson You "verified" huh? That leaves quite a bit of latitude. You verified while typing with one hand and a quart of Ben & Jerry's in the other, or you legitimately had a meaningful part in doing so? I'm actually inclined to believe you may have done something of minor note, as it would give an explanation of why you sound like such a Cashman fanboy. An assistant GM can have all sorts of roles of which learning is the norm for someone in their 20's. Cashman, a child of 1967 was this age when Jeter, Posada, Pettite & Williams were new to MLB. I highly doubt George was letting a very young Cashman have a lot of say in any matter at that point. So please let's not be delusional about him having a major say at that juncture. As for Stick picking his successor. Over the course of history, there have been many great businessmen who were less than optimal at choosing their successors. Not that Cashman didn't have his time in the sun, but once you're grappling to demonstrate success at the highest level and need to go back a decade and a half.....That's a big problem when every year you have a BIG payroll. As in always top 5 payroll. Any support Cashman had he deserved to lose after his pretentious and indignant display this week. I've always liked the Yankees policy of clean-cut, well-groomed players. But now you have a GM who dropped F-Bombs all over the place. So no beard.....But please curse at will. A shameful act worthy of termination on its own. Lastly, please tell me the last high profile (please don't offer up Holmes or Peralta-I used the term high profile) trade Cash won? Bet you have to go back a decade or more. Montas-Loss. Gallo-Loss Bader-Loss. Even older good trades like Hicks went bad when he unwisely extended him. While I won't begrudge the Stanton deal, no one can deny it now has the team completely hogtied. When you have one of the highest payrolls in sports, not just MLB, you need to be more than a bridesmaid at least some of the time. No players are around from their last championship. It's been that long.
This is a problem when the yankees gm cashman goes off like that and yet not title in 14 years with top 3 largest payroll in baseball. This is an insult to your customers that you are cursing and hal owner allows it. Dude you cashman represent the yankees brand. I am done as a fan until cashman is replaced
Trevino is the starting catcher of the NY Yankees??? And you wonder why they are a below average team!!! Berra, Munson. Posada (among many others) were the catchers when the Yankees were winning championships. The Yankees standards have dropped like a rock under Hal, Cashman and company.
Michael Kay is the REAL voice of the Yankees. I respect and support Michael Kay for his wisdom, honesty and Baseball knowledge. And one of the best Game announcers.
There is a reason why the GM position doesn’t last anything close to that of Cashman’s tenure with the Yankees. We’re all seeing it unfold. Cashman might have been perceived as a hero at one point but there is no disputing he’s now turned into a tyrant. He’s now arrogant in every way. The way he believes of his management skills as well as his attitude towards the fans and the media, he believes he’s above it all. It’s just time to move on from him. It won’t get better and if it does, not by much. He’s gotten old and set while accumulating arrogance that makes him see less cuz he wont recognize his shortcomings.
Sad to say as a lifelong Yanks fan, but the organization really feels like a joke that just milks their historical reputation as if that's good enough to win now. Just a matter of time before "Yankee Stadium" is "Sponsor Stadium". Just wait.
I'm done with Hal & Cashman. If I don't see substantial progress this Winter, I'm not paying to watch (I live outside of the NY area now) nor will I pay to go to a game. I live within walking distance of the Rays stadium. I usually pay to go to see the Yankees play the Rays. I don't know any fan that likes Cashman. None. He needs to go, but if he stays, he better big changes in the org this Winter. I think a lot of fans are super upset and maybe we will finally see an attendance change and a viewing change.
If his anger and F bombs were aimed toward the critics. Then that’s also aimed at the fans that are not happy. Next to last place, barely above .500, not to mention the bad trades he’s made.
i honestly think they got together, realized it's going to be a year before the Zelus analytics audit will present its results, and all parties realized, we all have one year to prove ourselves. Cashman on his own island, Hal/Judge on the other. They all left the room saying "you do your thing, i'll do my thing, and we'll meet at the finish line and see who wins next year." Perhaps this is also step 1 to alienate Cashman before his contract ends. No extension to follow?
This is how much Brian Cashman needs to go!! Hal needs to grow a pair and do right by the people who fill his pockets with money!! THE FANS!! Do the right thing or sell the team to someone who will care!!
I hate to say it, but if more doesnt change behind the scenes and the product they put on the field is what it is currently. This team has NO chance at going to a WS. I still think ya need Brian gone, as long as hes apart of this team.... its gonna be depressing off seasons full of frustrations. I hate feeling like this, been a fan since i was a kid in 1980. This team seems to know everything but how to get a productive team on the field. So many excuses and things that are so blatant that they dance around, The fans are getting a load of happy horse S++T.
It’s disgraceful, Michael. Regardless of the target audience, the language would get anyone else fired. And btw, you and I are of the same Fordham u vintage …
I’m sure this would be the last year with Cashman and Boone being our key leaders if they miss the playoffs again. From Hal’s interview, not mentioning Cashman and constantly bringing up Judge as a shield. The reason why Cashman is so defensive is that he knows Hal is running out of patience and he’s on a short leash. Cashman is worried and tries to use profanity to hide his fears, and over defends himself in every situation including the analytics thing which has been a huge target. He’s insecure and it shows in his demeanor!
I think Brian Cashman was out of line. Angry, arrogant, and also unprofessional totally. He was beyond ridiculous with media. Very childish. He needs to go. I lost total respect for the man.
Cashman was seen talking to Bud Black and Roger Beshens Football Slider guy Tuesday Nov 7 at the Gm meeting at the Omni Hotel in Scottsdale AZ. Roger Beshens was telling Bud Black and Cashman about his football slider and that slider needs to be taught to every pitcher, Roger said that's why the Yankees hired Matt Blake in 2019, Cashman did NOT like that at all and stormed away. The Roger Beshens football slider is on center grip, throw like a football, stiff wrist, he's known for teaching Cole Snell, Glasnow, Rodon and dozens more in May 2018. Cole and Snell couldn't avg over a K an IP until they learned that football slider in May 2018. The Sweeper is the Roger Beshens Football Slider. Arm angle dictates the break over the top vertical drop, tick down you get more horizontal sweep. ALL with the same Grip, Tilt or Wrist action! If the wrist is rolled it's a curve. This so called Sweeper nonsense can be a slider or curve based on the wrist action. So when you see a 80 mph sweeper that's usually a curve cause of the rolling of the wrist all the the pitcher has to do is use stiff wrist and it's 87 mph. Those two pitches will have the same shape cause they use the same Grip and Football Tilt. Give Roger Beshens some credit, this stuff is 100% accurate.
Just goes to show how out of touch Brian Cashman is, after so many years in the organization he thinks his position is soo secured that he doesn’t care of what anyone thinks about how he’s handling his position smh no wonder Yankees fans want him out he thinks his shit don’t stink 😂
And yes, the Yankees are analytically driven. A pitcher is not allowed to use his heart and skills to pitch out of a jam anymore. Try and bunt or a hit and run every once and a while. The Rangers did slug, yes, but they played small ball when they had to and found a way to win. Stanton and many others are totally unable to put the ball in play any longer.
Kay: Brian's a very smart GM...The same guy said we liked Gio, but he's no Josh Donaldson, the same guy who said Montgomery wouldn't make our post season roster...Take away free agents and we only Judge that's worth a damn...He drafts terribly, his trades suck and what other GM in the league would have an all righty lineup...In Yankee Stadium ?? He only criticized the way he handled himself, he didn't say one bad thing about Cashman as a GM...He'd be hired in a minute ?? By who, a team with a $150 million payroll ?? If he can't win with a $300 mill payroll, who would hire him with half that budget ??
The Yankees often describe themselves as “classy and humble,”but looking at their fans in the stadium, there's not a trace of that element lol. It had to become a tradition because the Bronx guys weren't classy or humble in the first place. Cashman's words are exactly what you would normally use. If you ask me, it suits you. I can say that I am the right GM for you guys.
Messiah was always right about firing Cashman. Now Cashman is trying a new approach to justify keeping his job. He is a Yankee, and he is not conducting himself to the Yankee standard. Then he defends his awful decisions. He needs to go.
Personally I’m not concerned if Cashman cursed during a presser. I’m more concerned with his actions. He can lace together “c” words if he could put an actual baseball team together.
DLG is on point. He nailed it but Kay is an exact clone of Cashman, He can't take critics bouncing his flaws out in public. Talk with no remorse for failures. Excuses with no humility.
Trashman showed his true colors, a total goon out of touch with reality, things look very bad for the 2024 Yankees. If Hal was serious about winning, Trashman and Boone would already be gone, Yankees are joining the NY Giants as a complete clown show.
