In what estimation is Boone an adequate manager? His terribly constructed lineups or frightening management of the pitchers? Any great manager can take THE CURRENT YANKEES TEAM and produce a better record! The Marlins have a better record, please take a look at the lineup and pitching staff….

This team needs to follow the exact blueprint the NY Giants took last year. They need a young new GM from the outside who has come up in one of the several organizations who have turned it around. I’m talking someone from the Rays, astros, braves, Reds, hell even the Orioles. They need someone who’s in touch with how to build a winning roster in todays MLB. Until that happens, it’s going to be the same story every year.
Baseball is different than football, where a team's fortunes can more easily swing dramatically from one season to another, and draft picks make immediate impacts on the roster and game outcomes, but I do agree that Cashman must go, bring in new blood. He reminds me of the old man hunched over on a old chair, using one finger to type on a typewriter, having to use reams of paper and white-out to correct his many mistakes, while competitors are all using IMAC Pros.
Michael continuing to bring up the fact that the Yankees are still above .500 is just nauseating. I'm so rooting for this team to finish under .500 for the first time in 30 years just to hear what the excuses are going to be then? Probably that we we're heavily injured this year...just like last year and the year before. What does that tell you? Maybe you shouldn't be trading/signing injury prone players? That sounds like basic team construction 101 which last time I checked falls on the general manager. Just pure insanity at work here, and the best part is the Yankees think we're that stupid to continue lying to our faces.
Cashman is still a good GM, the difference is he’s not a good GM for the Yankees anymore. Perfect example is Danny Ainge with the Celtics. 2017 Celtics had all these high hopes, they took LeBron to game 7 without Kyrie and Gordon Hayward. They regressed basically every year until 2021 cause of the moves Ainge didn’t make. He could’ve traded for AD or Kawhi when they were available decided not to. Both of those guys won rings after being traded. Then Ainge leaves and the Celtics go to the Finals. Ainge moved on with the Jazz and has done a good job so far. In sports you can’t have the same GM for more than 15 years, that’s the case with Ainge and Cashman. You lose creativity and edge over time.
And Michael you keep mentioning the roster construction , the injuries etc who put this team together ?! Cashman right ? Hold him accountable !! You’re talking as if cashman isn’t the one that puts the team together

Well I’m a huge Yankees fan, but I honestly hope they finish last and are a complete embarrassment (it already is). Because maybe, just maybe, that will force them to make changes. And even then, it’s not a for sure thing. Insanity!
Not making the playoffs is not the sin for me, not being realistically competitive enough to win a WS Championship for the past 14 years is. Lets face it, even in the years the Yankees have made the playoffs since 2009, absent one remarkable season when all the youngsters exceeded expectations, the Yankees have had little to ZERO realistic chance of winning a World Series, ZERO, because their roster under Cashman has been terribly flawed. Where are all the .300 hitters, with .350-.400 OBP that other teams have. The Yankees have had a Roster of .180 - .240 hitters with 125 - 200+ strike-outs each. That isn't going to get the job done under any circumstanced. Having 1-2 guys on the roster batting .240-.260, with 125+ (not 175+) strikes out per season, but hitting 30+ home-runs and knocking in 110 - 125 RBI's is acceptable, if you have the .300 hitters, with .375 - .420 OBP in from of them, in addition to 1-2 guys batting .270 -280, with 160-180 hits per season, perhaps 30+ doubles, 15 - 20 Home-Runs, and 80 - 100 RBI's, and 80-100 strike-outs per season to balance the line-up and drive in runners in scoring position when the mashers fail to do so and strike-out. When everyone, up and down the line-up strikes out 20% - 30% of their at bats, I guarantee there will be no WS championships.
Excellent observation that there is just not that feeling of urgency with this team and in recent years with this Yankees team and organization that each day and each series you need to win! Wild card configuration is part of it but not all of it: we need some core guys who are winners and passionately need to win!

That's my feelings on this too. I think Cashman is a lifetime employee. Hal needs to write the checks, Cashman run baseball operations, and hire an old school GM and Manager to build and run this team. Cashman has no idea how to build a well rounded/diversified team. Hal Steinbrenner is the problem! He refuses to make the right necessary personnel changes to this Organization's faulty system for years. The faulty system has stayed so many years it becomes like an incurable cancer to the Organization. Not as bad as their 1989 to 1991 Teams which finished 20 games below .500 but certainly as bad as their 1992 Team which finished 10 games below .500. Their record since June 6 is 8 games below .500. This Team has continued in decline without any Front Office changes to their system for over 4 years after winning 100 games in 2018 yet Cashman and Fishman still keep their jobs.

Brian Cashman would not make it as a GM on any other time as least not for long, because no other Owner would be willing to bail out Cashman when he make bad deals. They should have gotten the Old GM of the Astros. Hal should tell Cashman thier not moving forward with him.

The Yankees have become the NY Rangers. With the Rangers, you have a second generation owner who inexplicitly treats Glen Sather like he has actually accomplished something resembling anything in his nearly 24 years in NY. Prior to Sather's arrival in 2000, he spent another 9 years being inept and arrogant in Edmonton after both Messier and Gretzky left. In fact, the argument can be made that Sather's greatest NY accomplishment is finding a boss even thicker and more delusional than he is. Cashman has become Sather. the one championship he did win (compared to Sather's one Finals appearance in 23 full year. A feat that even I think I could accomplish) was due to the remnants of the Watson/Michael era and when left to his own devices. Like Sather, Cashman has never had to worry about results or job security. Both have become very wealthy accomplishing nothing. It's an insult to anyone who has to produce results for a living.
