In a football world increasingly forgetful of the past this channel is dedicated to keeping the memory of the Laudrups' (and a few other players') beautiful skill on the pitch alive.
I see a lot of comments about comparing Laudrup with Zidane and others - who is better etc. Why ? just enjoy Laudrup and leave the other players out. Michael can not be compared with other players - he is unique.
He played for Juve, Lazio, Ajax, Barça, Real.... a journey. 5 times Spain Champion. Considered best Danish Player Ever in his Homeland. And i consider him one of the Genius i had the chance to see in action, he was a true creator anything could happen when he was on the field. one love from France.
Yes, first I saw him and then was great Zizou, 2 playmakers of the greatest quality whom I've appreciated so much. Every game with them I've payed all my atention what they do on the field: every move, every pass, every glance
Funny though he wasn't really considered the best in his homeland when he actually played, other players always used to beat him for danish player of the year
@@brianlaudrupchannel it was because in that era other danish star players was around like Brian Laudrup who won this award 4 time and Peter Schmeichel and Elkjær and other great players was around in that time frame but Michael Laudrup is considered the greatest danish player ever I know that because I live here and everybody says he is the best we ever had but we had a few great like Schmeichel and Elkjær and his brother Brian but now we have Eriksen who not in the same league as being the greatest but still one of the best we ever had definitely the best we have now with Peter Schmeichel son Kasper Schmeichel
I think there hasn't been a player that has such a great vision of the game like Laudrup. Laudrup was elegance, vision, class, accurate passes and dribbling. Laudrup best playmaker ever.
Being understated is part of the appeal imo. That's what a gentleman is. Who cares what the majority thinks? Watching these videos is totally mesmerising. And the subtleness is a big reason for it, i think. He does things that are seemingly impossible and makes no fuss about it. Like it's nothing. And you sit back thinking what just happened there. He is more of a magician trying to hide his tricks than he's a flashy entertainer trying to make everything bigger. That's why he's underrated imo.
@@janjensen8289 no he wasn't dribbling and ball control they were equal and you could say iniesta was better when it came to passing accuracy and ball retention he was also better
@@janjensen8289 are you slow I said dribbling and ball control they are around equal and I said iniesta has better passing accuracy which is true I never said he's a better overall passer or has better vision
I have to confess I didn't know he was this good. I watched him when he was 34 and thought why all this people so much whining about him when he is so slow and average. But he was master-class before now I see. Bravo Michael...
"Pelé was the best in the 60s, Cruyff in the 70s, Maradona in the 80s and Laudrup in the 90s." - Franz Beckenbauer. "Who is the best player in history? Laudrup." - Andres Iniesta. "The best player I have ever played with and the 4th best in the history of the game" - Romário.
but that was before the game had seen Cr7, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Messi and properly a couple of other players but I agree Laudrup is a top 25-50 player all time
@@andersnielsen6044 no I am aware that he said Laudrup was the best he ever played against. He did however, say Maradona was the best he had ever seen growing up. And that Eusebio was his idol. Laudrup was an awesome player tho
The player from whom I've learned to fully apreciate the art of playmaking. Brilliant, intelligent, skilled (though underrated as he was just objective, no move was wasted) and, overall, unselfish. Because of him, later another player who resembled much of him became my idol, Rui Costa. Thanks for the upload. Respect to Laudrup. From a portuguese (and Benfica) fan
Michael Laudrup is the football lover's heart, and not for the media and highlights .... A true legend with Respect and nonexistent selfishness but rather a spirit for the team and not himself ...
People forget that he helped build Barcelona, everyone takes for granted now that they're a top team that wins constantly, back then it wasn't so. Before him they're usual spot was 2. or 3. after Real Madrid. None of the greates that exist today has ever done that, even Messi as great as he is, was made from something there already were.
Better than Cruyff (Master of the pace) probably the most pure 10 or 8, mentality of a passer team player and the Best to break a defense in the Last line passing , amazing dribbler, great iq, off the charts vision,
I remember him being outstanding for Denmark in the 1986 World Cup. Also remember him and Platini destroying the opposition when they both played for Juventus. One of the greatest footballers in the past 25 years. He also seems to be a really nice guy.
i am portuguese and im 15 years old and this is the first time i watch him play, and im just speechless. he has a really nice touch and he is the must elegant player i have ever seen. i alwalys thougt that zidane was the must elegant player but now.... i dont know
The magic of this kind of players its very hard to see these days, Maradona, Platini, Laudrup, Bergkamp, Riquelme thanks a lot for your art and the fifferent view of this lovely game, Football!
One of the most elegant and aesthetically pleasing footballers ever. Perhaps only George Best has embodied the Beautiful Game more than Michael laudrup.
I know people who listen to Mozart/Beethoven when they dont feel well. It soothes them. I just watch Laudrup videos.I only knew him by name 10 years ago. Wish i had watched this guy play live.Sometimes i think he plays like Zidane. Sometimes like Iniesta. Sometimes even like Messi. He's just tremendous.
He was incredible. I got to see him play when he was with ajax. Genius cerebral and technical players like him, Bergkamp, Zidane and even Riquelme are one of the reasons why this sport is so great.
Laudrup had timeless skill and ability. Put him in ANY era and he would comfortably be a top 3 world player. Total legend. Can't believe some 'football fans' haven't heard of him!! Not all top players would translate to any era or even any league - take Carlton Palmer. EVen he would struggle in the Premiership these days ;)
Loved Brendon Rogers and feel very grateful for his contribution to Swansea's success. Wish him the best of luck in Liverpool and always. Today, it is time to welcome Michael Laudrup, wish him a very happy Birthday and give him a grand welcome to Swansea. We wish him and Swans the best of luck.
That's cos he's so good, it makes the defenders like pedestrian. Btw, Laudrup ALWAYS played at the highest levels, so you're looking at world class defenders he's dribbling against
One of the best players in the world ever. Way ahead of his time, and among the greatest playmakers...perhaps the best ever. Champion with Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Ajax. How many players can top that....Hmm. Not many.
I came upon this guy by accident while I was watching other soccer videos (older ones in particular). By my own assessment he is definently one of the top 3 players ever. Also by all of those quotes below it just shows it. This man set the bar for players like Xavi/Iniesta in which set the mold they emulated.
It is a pleasure to watch how he used to play. His skills reminds me of Iniesta, they both have a top-class style that only a few players in history had. As Beckenbauer said: "Pelé was the best in the 60s, Cruyff in the 70s, Maradona in the 80s and Laudrup in the 90s."
***** Zidane did not play anything at Juventus .... In the 1998 World Cup only scored twice head... The Laudrup was smarter, had a better dribbling, and won a Confederations Cup in 1995 by Denmark
laudrup was a better as playmaker (maybe the best) but overall i think zidane was better and more complete as player also he wins others cups ( euro 2000, supercoupe italy 98 and ldc 2002)
The Arizona Joker I agree with your comment, mainly on Riquelme ... Djalminha, Hagi and Ginola were also better than Zidane ... In the 2000s it was not the injuries, Recoba also would be ...
I've known of this guy for awhile but its only today i've actually viewed footage of him playing and from what ive seen this guy has elgance and vision beyond belief. What a player! I didn't believe the quotes and and high praise he recieved but it's clear he was something special.
great play and 100% gentleman. I still remember the headline after Denmark demolished Uruguya 6-1 in '86 WC - 'Michael Laudrup - cutting them softly'. It is said that if he is a little selfish he could have scored lots of goad. But he always gave pass to the player in better position.
A truely legendary player. The footballing world has not done him justice going on about Platini and Maradona. This guy is up with them. They say that at 48, he's still the best footballer out of all the players at Swansea.
With his incredible spirit and heart, I would MABY place him in the top 5, greatest of all times. Sure, im influenced because im Danish, and he was the greatest when I was young. But still. I just sense... he really had magic!!!!!
Laudrup the only player ever to win the Spanish league five times in a row playing for two different clubs, 4 with Barca and 1 Real !! WOW !! Can't get any better !!! ^_^
When growing up as an 80's child i watched the likes of Laudrup, Romario, Stoichkov, Hagi, Baggio, Van Basten, Gullit, Gascoigne, Weah, Batistuta to name but a few....I get the feeling todays youth with just Messi and Ronaldo that would even come close to these players are missing out!!
As a skiller he's undoubtedly no.1. As for being effective - when he was at Barca they won four consecutive La Liga championships and the 1991-92 European Cup, and when he moved to Real they won La Liga and he was twice voted Spanish football‘s Player of the Year.
in Spain, even today, the commentators say "that was a Laudrup pass", indeed he was not shelfish enough, he always gave a perfect ball to another player to score. I remember how I casually met Pep Guardiola many years ago and first thing I told him was "oh my... you play with Michael Laudrup everyday! wow...", he started laughing: touché, hahaha :-)
