@@haydenbennett3547 Yeah I made the mistake of breaking up that deck into a bunch of other themed decks and lost 3/5 of the reprinted Tarkir Dragonlords when I sold some cards. But I still kept the Ur and his herald, those 2 cards alone with any of my other dragon cards I've got since then make it too OP of a deck. Slap a call of the kindred enchantment on one of those bad boys and you Negate the casting cost of your most expensive costing monsters.
Man, I love Micheal Rosen. I learned about him from the memes but I then watched all of his original videos on youtube and he is an incredible storyteller.
Always loved his stuff growing up - my parents used to read his stuff to me and I had some of his poetry books. I managed to catch him live one morning at Latitude festival like 5 years or so ago. It was glorious.
@@Hemlocker Yeah I'd have to say my Izzet decks take way longer during my turns than Aesi lol. My gf will smoke a joint by the time I'm done with my turn on an izzet deck.
in my experience slow players are always slow as fuck regardless of their deck i've seen some guys play genuinely complicated control decks and aggro decks, and they took like 3-5 minutes per turn with both of them... like bro you had 5 different peoples' turns to contemplate what your next move would be, how the fuck can you study your 3 cards in your hand and take this long @@rhysofsneezingdragon1758
Perfect! But I do love the nod to Karl Kopinski and the special extra-grinny way he draws goblins. Honestly a ton of these are commanders I play and I absolutely died at Varina being included as “NO BREATHING!”
@@emilysmith2965 I personally have Aesi, and The Ur Dragon and I can confirm both of the clips are accurate for them lol my gf will smoke a joint by the time I'm done with a turn on Aesi, she doesn't even LET me play with my Ur deck unless my other 4 friends who play Magic are also playing with us lol at least then she has a chance because she can run interference and slow burn me while the others whittle away my defense and her targets. It's almost always a concerted effort to get me out of the game first and as quick as possible when we all play lol.
@@Ik-1 Same here! I was a sucker for all things dinosaur since I was but a wee toss of a lad. And building my Gishash deck (which I call "Dino-Genesis") brought my inner child joy. Though honestly my first choice for a commander deck was actually going to be slivers with Sliver Overlord (but I soon learned that deck wasn't exactly budget-friendly). Fortunately after the new Commander Masters came out, a lot of old slivers got reprints and came down in price enough where I felt comfortable making the deck (mind you it was still more than what I usually spend, but not overwhelmingly so). So now I have my "Sliver Evolution" deck (with Sliver Hivelord instead of "Overlord) as well.
What's funny is I have Aesi and it's actually really Good! I call it my cascade deck when I use it, I eventually just have such an overwhelming boardstate it doesn't matter what you do, something will connect. Enough counters to not worry about much either.
Still being new in the MTG space, I can say without a doubt, this is one of the best content created videos I've ever seen that is not actual gameplay, discussion, deck tech or a conspiracy theory.
Please don't think I'm trying to argue it's "better" than this video at all, but some other non-gameplay MTG content on YT that people enjoy is Friday Nights by LoadingReadyRun. You might like it a lot!
@@pedrobettt oh trust me, I know about them as well. Most of their content is now gameplay but they hope to bring back Friday night magic soon. They are my favorite MTG content creators, hands down! Professor and Kenobi are right behind.
i had the pleasure of photographing and meeting micheal a few years back, this was in the early stages of his internet memes so he was quite rightly pretty confused why a mid 20's guy would be so excited to have a photo taken with him aha he was just as lovely and hillarious as you would imagine.
I laughed so hard at Oloro because I've build a white/black vampire commander around him and I NEVER play him, he's literally stuck in his chair. I just use the passive lifegain effect.

@@Kokonutzlz True, but it seems like others can step up to be praetors/something praetor like, like gix. So maybe Atraxa would get her red from someone else, or develop it on her own. Ub could still get involved somehow I’m sure, but he’s kinda different because he treats completion as an option instead of a requirement
This is crazy. I seen this man pop up in countless memes, especially few years ago, but i never watched a single video with him. I had no idea what he sounds / moves like. This was my first exposure

He's only fun if your playing him. I had an aesi deck that I modified into an omnath deck (3 colour one). Suggest him to your friends. Relatively minor deck changes but surprisingly different gameplay!
@@brisingr0962 Thats exactly my point. Landfall is a imo kinda straightforward archetype as is, and aesi does the Job with less nuance than at least a dozen other commanders, in simic or otherwise.
@@uglycheater Depends on the user. How do they often use landfall? Because I can almost tell you, my set up is entirely different since I'm barely in the community and know nothing about deck names. My strategy with Aesi involves getting enough land on the field to pump counters and token creatures, I like long drawn out games and I consider it a waste of time if the duel isn't going at LEAST 4 hrs-6 any longer than 6 though is pushing it. I also have river hopoe in the deck to eventually just pump my life to a ridiculous amount on my turns. I'm currently trying to make a constellations deck revolving around pumping my Heliod the Sun God an insane degree by equipping him with every artifact, aura, and enchantment/artifact creature I have; once I surpass the limit of when heliod loses his indestructible though I have Darksteel Plate in that deck to protect him while still being able to pump him up lol.
Ooh, I'm back here a year later and I didn't realise I've already seen this video, so I suppose I can add one more thing: Giada as a fly is probably a very unfortunate, but accurate way of representing her XD. Like, majority of the time she's the smallest creature at her side of the field, just like a fly that's small, annoying and flies xD
1: I hate that tovlar is here, I hate that you insulted me, I hate that I play Tovlar and most of all I hate that it's accurate. 2: "no breathing" is a great way to describe stax, death and taxes and control in general. 3: I agree, us Kaalia players are braindead.
