To work on career is one of the tough job, and children are more prone to masti. Those who can decide, does not require advise, and seldom parents interfere. During initial years of my career, when I was struggling with stability, our manager used to motivate us that there is no such like career, bcoz the only thing which matters is money. Career/position is just a rat race, money should be the only motivation. After many yrs, I still feel his advice was real.
