Hey man, I’m Chris, out of Little Rock, Arkansas. I’ve been watching your videos literally for the past three days. Just wanted to let you know I love what you’re doing. This gives people an ideal of how the hot shot business go. I was running a 26 foot box truck last year but now I’m thinking about going with the hotshot
That’s one of the most interesting and funny loads and very cool ramps he used to load up. You should take those things to the mid Atlantic work truck show in Kentucky in 2 weeks that would be pretty cool if you could do a review from there kind of new trucking stuff they might have for hotshot trucks.
Unfortunately I will not have time to go to that show. I’ll be home enjoying my time with family. Those were cool ramps but I wouldn’t trust them for anything heavier than the golf cart. They just lay on the tail end of the trailer and aren’t secured to it at all.
Alex my guy it gave me so much anxiety not seeing you belly wrap those pipes lmaoooo !! Hope the loads get better my guy love seeing your vids! watching your vids gets me debating about getting back out there !
Thank you! A lot of times I do belly wrap the pipes but with this load I didn’t feel the need for some reason. They made it safe and sound and didn’t move a single bit. 👍🏻
I'm going to get you a pair of Cajun Reeboks, (white shrimp boots) that way you won't get your white sneakers muddy. With my new and improved truck, I'm able to move twice as many loads per week. How?, you ask.... I set my cruise at 140 mph!!!! I got pulled over by a state trooper and he said: "why are you driving so fast?" I said, "I'm not driving fast, I'm flying low" 😂😅😂 Hope you're week picks up, it's been crazy for sure. At least we got more daylight now.
P.s not to bust your chops, you may already know this but anything over 5 feet and 1000 pounds requires 2 straps min. 5 feet or less and under 1000 pounds = 1 strap. Nonetheless enjoy your content keep the videos rolling!
The twist is so the strap doesn’t vibrate in the wind. You don’t always need to twist but when there is a long open stretch of your strap open to the wind, you want to twist it or it’ll vibrate and it can come loose.
Hey Alex how are u my friend, have u consider dispatching ur self, that's what I do when I started I got a dispatcher but only lasted 1 1/2 months when I got the hang of it everything started to get better and with steady numbers all the time and that % we pay is like a month run in diesel u should try it some day so keep it up bro and I haven't forgot the donuts, go get some they'll make u feel better, be safe.
What’s up Alfonso. I do keep an eye on the load board but I prefer to have a dispatcher because I don’t want to do all of this while driving or loading. Making RU-vid content is another job of its own and looking for loads on top of it will be way too challenging. It’s not hard I know how to do it but I prefer a dispatcher. Makes my life easier.
Loving the videos I am doing Hotshot as well but wanted to see if there was a way to talk with you about somethings if you would be willing to talk with me.
Thank you! I prefer Truckstop because they have showers. I’ve parked at Walmarts before too if there were no trucks stops available. My go to loaded is Truckstop but my dispatcher also uses DAT.
Could you do your looking for lads a week in advance instead of loosing 2 days a week ? Instead of dropping then looking might make you more money ?? I would like to do this type of work myself I’m 55 new to USA from England 🏴 maybe work for someone bd good option for me if someone got a setup/ I just take the loads . I’ve got lots of experience driving
My dispatcher and Inusually start looking for loads before I even get to the receiver with my current load. Not always can you find something ahead of time.
Hi sir , you r doing such a hard and nice work for other people, like me you motivate me to start my own trucking business. Also thanks alot for sharing your numbers $ most people don’t share their income, it will be more perfect and helpful if you tell us about the expenses that how much expense per week on weekly income like gas, maintenance, fines etc, so i can have a clear picture if I drive like you, then how much I can have in my pocket after all the expense. Regards.
Hey Alex, question, do brokers require you to have air ride on your trailer or is that a personal preference? Just making sure before i pull the trigger on this trailer. Thank you again for all the videos and knowledge
Brokers do not require air ride although there are certain loads that require a trailer with air ride. I bought it because it rides a little smoother and to be able to take those loads that do require air ride.
@Mr.AlexKogan once again Alex thank you for the info. I went ahead and got the one wth air ride. Well hopefully get it waiting on my bank now to say yes or no lol
I meant to ask you how long those straps last for you before you have to end up getting new ones and also if you were looking at getting a trailer now that you have the experience of doing this, would you order more of those ratchets on the side of the truck And keep them on the same side as the truck as well. As I keep talking to the sales people for the trailers, it’s interesting how they can add all these bells and whistles, but I really want to focus on the stuff that it’s gonna help us be more successful easier to tie things down and help us get loads strapped down faster, any advice on if you had to do it all over again would you get the exact same trailer set up or would you change just a few items?
The straps can last a long time if you protect them. Meaning use corner protectors and if the straps lay on something that can damage them then put something in between to protect them. I’ve used these straps over a year now and haven’t had to replace any yet. I have 10 winches on my track on the side of the trailer and that’s plenty for me. No need for anymore. You can always buy more and just slide them into the track. Pretty happy with my trailer
Great video. I was told that hauling golf cart/ ATV’s and side by side’s that at the back or last one needs to be chalked according to DOT. Strap a 4x4x8 dunnage up against the last set of tires will do. 🤷🏽♂️
Alex how did you get interested in hotshot? And also do you get your own loads or have a dispatcher? I’m looking into getting into hotshot? But lease on first and get some experience. Just got my CDL license which was challenging
I knew someone who was doing hotshot and over 3 years ago market was great and they told me how much they make so that got me interested. That’s how Ingot started. I use a dispatcher to find my loads. It’s much easier than doing it yourself while driving.
Thank you! Yes the reason for twisting is to prevent the strap from flapping when driving. You don’t always have to twist but you’ll get the feel for which loads require it after doing it a few times.
@Mr.AlexKogan awesome thank you. I'm going to get into hotshoting here in canada, but I have a few questions. If I get a 1 ton diesel single wheel and a trailer for non cdl, what is my gvwr for both truck and trailer? Do u know? Because I have heard 26k but is that just for the trailer because the truck gv is 10k or so and I don't see 40ft or even 30ft trailers with a gvwr of 16k it's all the shorter trailers that have that rating. Any help would be appreciated thanks Alex.
@@Avankaurparmar To be non CDL your weight of the truck trailer and the load on the trailer must not exceed 26,000 lb. The 10k gvwr of your truck means that truck and everything inside it can’t be higher than 10k. Same for your trailer. Your truck doesn’t actually weight 10k and your trailer doesn’t weigh 16k. You’ll need to weigh your truck and trailer with all your securement equipment and full tank of diesel at the Truckstop scale to know what all of that weighs. Then you’ll know how much weight you can put on your trailer to not be over 26,000lb. Hope that helps.
@@Mr.AlexKogan thank you, brother!! Very well said and easy for me to understand. I asked another guy he he literally told me 10 different gvw and gvwr and this combined with that and then minus this equals this lol!!! He confused the hell put of me. Thank you, Alex. I'm assuming you are cdl driver, tho correct?? U haul pretty heavy loads or at least seem like it with no issues.
