Wow, I wasn't expecting it to be made in Romania. You made a nice video just as always (sorry for my poor English)

@houseofvacuums Thanks for the video. FYI you can disassemble the pack without cutting the wires. If you look carefully at the battery terminals you’ll see small notches on the outside of each terminal. That is so a very small flathead screw driver can fit in there to flatten small metal tabs on the terminals. Once those tabs are flattened, the terminal can be pulled out by the wire. It may take a few tries and so slight prying of the screw driver to get the tabs flattened enough. That way you can reassemble the pack if needed. FYI my vacuum quit taking a charge and I thought it was the pack. Turns out it was the charger..the barrel connector wasn’t making good contact with the wires so voltage wasn’t getting to the pack. Replaced the connector and all is well.

Any information on how long a fully charged Miele TRIFLEX HX 1 battery will last on the shelf? Also, if you're using a wall mounted charging station- does that eventually limit the battery's ability to maintain its charge?
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 2 года назад
Hi Lesley! Lithium ion batteries like the HX1 uses have very little self-discharge, so they will keep their charged stated for a very long time with little loss of power. In terms of shelf life before it becomes less desirable than a new one, there really isn't a time frame on that. Most new batteries, including the HX1, come from the factory with about a half charge as best practice. Storing long-term with a full charge can cause capacity degradation over a very long period of time, so they ship them half charged to avoid this issue. For keeping it on the charger, the less you can do that the better. This is really true of any rechargeable item. The most convenient way I have found to take care of this is to charge your wall mount into a smart plug like those made by TP LInk, WYZE, Samsung, etc. This will allow you to set a timer on how long you want to leave the charging on. When the timer on your phone's app finishes, it will automatically shut off power to the charge while leaving your vacuum on the charging dock. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions!

wHY DO YOU THINK OR DID YOU FIND OUT WHY IT FAILED ?

Thanks for the comment! All of the cells were completely dead, so it appeared to be a failure of the over-discharge circuit of the PCB. Cheers!

Salve, possiedo una miele hs19 triflex hx1, è possibile sostituire solo le battrie interne, da un tecnico saldatore? Grazie

Hey great video. I have a question. What would you expect to measure with your multimeter across the 2 inside terminals of a good battery pack. I ask because I have 28v on the outside terminals and open circuit on the inside set. My problem is that the whole vacuum cleaner is no signs of life. And also none with charger plugged in. Thanks Ray
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums Год назад
Hey Ray. Unfortunately, I think your battery has a bad BMS as it is not "talking" to the machine the way it should. The open terminals on the inside set monitor optimal battery conditions and send voltage to the machine as a signal to allow it to power on. I would get in touch with Miele about getting a replacement. Sorry it wasn't better news, but that will get it fixed for you. Cheers!

Hello there! Thank you for the video! Do you think the battery can be plugged to the mains via the charger WITHOUT having it installed on the vacuum?
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 3 года назад
Thanks for the question! Yes, you can take the battery off the machine to charge it. The charger input is built into the battery. The only thing to be aware of if you do that is that you will not be able to see it's charge level. This is because the charge level is displayed on the vacuum handle when you charge it on the machine. Hope that helps!

Please let me know if the measurement resistor in your copy had gold or white lettering, that is, was it slightly burned?

Great video. Keep up the good work. How do you think it compares the the Dyson v11 battery?
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 3 года назад
Thanks for the comment! Each pack has it's own positives and negatives (no pun intended!). I like that there is more room in the Miele battery for heat dissipation. However, the V11 Outsize battery uses the 21700 cell (not sure about the regular V11) which give it more MAh. In either case, they both use Murata cells which are top notch. In terms of construction and materials used I don't have any issues with each of them.

Have you heard of bearing failure regarding the Hx1? I want to buy one but have heard of a common failure at the brush head which renders the vacuum useless.
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 3 года назад
Thanks for watching and the comment! Yes, there have been reports of the bushings on the end caps melting if they get hair in them... and they seem to wrap hair pretty easily. I have a HX1 at home and my wife and daughter have long hair, so there is a lot of wrapping. I clean the brushroll about once a month and haven't had any issues so far using that schedule. Fortunately, it is easy to remove the brushroll without tools. But if the brushroll hair wrapping is ignored, it will definitely become an issue for an owner.

Hi, Interesting vid! I had a question about the reasoning (if any) behind the manual instructing to fully charge the battery before first use. I believe I recall seeing similar instruction with other battery devices. I also wonder how many reports of poor battery performance of their Miele battery might be caused from people failing to follow these instructions? I just got my HX1 2 days ago and followed the first time charging instructions closely so fingers crossed! Thanks
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 3 года назад
Thanks for watching! Now that the HX1 has been out for a little while it has become apparent that there were some issues with the batteries on the first production run. They have now been updated by Varta and Miele. That being said, it is always a good idea to follow the instructions regarding battery charging as there are things than can be hard on lithium-ion cells that we don't often think of. Let the battery sit for about 15-20 before charging after use. Don't leave the vacuum plugged in. Don't recharge it every time you have a quick pick. All of those will help it last longer. If you just got your HX1 a couple days ago it should have been in the first batch of batteries, so just follow normal ownership procedures as outlined in the manual and above. It should last a long time for you!

Mine has failed also I open new in the box battery did not last a week
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 2 года назад
Hey Christopher! Sorry to hear about your battery... it's a potential issue even on the best of vacuums. One thing that Miele Triflexes need is to be charged for the first time ON the vacuum. When you get a new battery, put it onto the machine then charge it. This causes the battery to sync with the machine. I don't know why it makes a difference, but it really does.

You may have a dud... that can happen with any lithium ion battery pack, unfortunately. Contact Miele or your dealer, they will be able to get you a new one under warranty.

I disassemble a lot of cordless vacuum batteries on this channel as it is the heart of the cordless vac. I will have more videos coming out on the HX1 TriFlex. However, I'm wondering what about "battery dissection" was misleading?
