Under rated???? 🤣🤣🤣 you can say now he is old . This man was a HUGE successful player, musician, composer. You comment is ignorant sorry. Like saying Journey, Toto are underated.
Out of this world. It's the 80's everybody is listening to disco stuff. He walked on stage and literally bombarded the audience with totally different tunes, even setting him apart from the likes of Paige and Blackmore. So cool.
Such a simple but catchy tune on the album. It fast became one of my favorites, blasting forth from my modern 'ghetto blaster'. Now, over 40 years later, I get to sit in my comfy chair by my desk, wearing a very good pair of headphones, and watch this piece of exquisite music history at the click of a mouse button as many times as I like. Technology has come a long way in my day - but I am sorry to say, music has not kept up. Nothing, absolutely nothing, comes close to the raw passion, pure genius, and true virtuosity, mr. Oldfield shows here. He takes that simple, but masterfully composed, ditty, and elevates it to something truly spectacular in this encore. There, at the end, when the synth comes in alone with Oldfields guitar, and precisely after he has gotten the crowd to cheer one last time, we get The Finale. The harmony, the noteprogression, the tone he gets from those thin metal wires vibrating over the magnetic microphones, is nothing less than Immortal. That little part is a crowning achievement of all that came before it. If all I got were those few seconds of music, I would be satisfied and would not demand more. Those notes strike something deep within my being, and I feel all the beauty of the creation flowing through my soul. Too much for a simple tune like Punkadiddle? Well, you should hear me about his rendition of 'Flowers of the forest', and how it makes me want to don a kilt and become a proud Scotsman, roaming the highland forests and moors with nothing but a forbidden bagpipe as company. :) Anyways..... Some say Oldfield is like a God..... Well, God is great and all....but he is no Oldfield.
Coincido plenamente con ud. Justo cuando se escucha los últimos vítores y empieza solo la guitarra con el sintetizador es una obra de arte hecha música...❤️
When tubular bells first came on the scene it revolutionised the modern rock album- two 20+ minutes pieces of music with uninterrupted genius invading my senses. Music is music. Mike plays with your emotions as well. Superb.
Es ist das beste Gitarrensolo. Oldfield ist einer der Größten. Und...es gibt wenige Künstler, die die Zuhörer auf so kunstvolle Weise in gute Emotionen katapultieren.
Here I am again, listening to & thoroughly enjoying Mike Oldfield playing one of my favourite pieces - & there are so many of them. Utterly joyous. Being from the UK I ask why this man has not been Knighted for his contributions to music & entertainment? He surely deserves it.
+Liam Prince Well, I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I don´t witness "errors", "bum notes", playing "modal" - I only hear mesmerizing beauty and pure genius. Focus of attention, probably
I only discovered MO last year, but I come back to certain bits like this gem repeatedly. The way the band fades down into just the guitar and keyboard at the end is so haunting. I kind of wish he hadn't done quite so much playing with the audience near the end, but hey, everybody was having fun...
3:15 man that note is genius It's not in the original recording, just for for the live audience, just like the end when he's getting the audience involved. Amazing
first time i heard mikes amazing music i was only 6-7years old as my father showed me his vinyl discovery. i was amazed by his skills. as a little kid i smiply wanted to play guitar right there! :) some years later i switched thgough many styles and genres (but i always avoided "pop" and mainstream shaits) and now i ended deep underground (now im 22yrs), but mike is somekind special man and artist for me and he will be always my inspiration in the way he makes and lives music..
Fan of Mike since then and today! Michael and his art for ever, Jean-Michel, Vangelis, ELP, Kitaro looks upon his shoulder! Amities du Allemagne en May 2020!!!
The whole of this concert is simply amazing and I urge you all to get it, I just watched it in it`s entirety and I have never seen such a great display of brilliance, Mike, you are beyond words to describe your talent, to me Genius describes you best.
One of the Most amazing Music Creators and Music geniouses of his generation and also as anyone can witness here,an incredibly skilled guitar player, underated to say the Least,at least in the U.S.
This guitar monster is not only underrated... is also unknown by the mainstream industry. No problem. He will stay in the music history. Them are being forgotten.
super Mike! sempre sul pezzo... formidabile!!! pieno di energia, divertente e magico!!!! ancora oggi i tuoi brani ci fanno sognare!!! buon Natale a tutti!! ;)
