@Taquisha Laynetta I absolutely agree. But if you also look into the fact that certain states got plenty of government funding for welfare programs that were directed at the less income individuals, and in order to collect that welfare you had to be a single parent. For me that's the government trying to break up the family home in the poor communities.
@@cbrreezzyy69 " He raped multiple women " hahaha what the hell are you talking about ? He never raped anybody. He had his criminal , mental and drug/alcohol problems when he was younger but now he is all good. Most of us did stupid shit.
@Just D his trial was a sham and the girl who accused him is a known liar who accused other people she was also a gold digger. Mike pretty much convicted himself he was acting like an idiot in court and the jury saw that and made up their minds on him. Only someone who is uninformed would think mike actually did it.
Hey bro, I’m from a place similar to where Mike is from with a lot of broken homes. What you said is 100% correct. When I would see boys with their dads doing things, it would break my heart every time. That’s an emotion I’m conscious of, but it affects you on so many levels that you’re not aware of which can be devastating. That’s why I’m as close to my two kids as a father could be. I knew as a young man that I’d never ever be alienated from my kids no matter what because I lived that loneliness
@@jamescoleman3103 yeah which was cus d’mato who only stayed around for 6-7 years before dying of illness, mike’s real father was never there for him and only appeared back in his life when tyson was the champion
I mean it’s really nice to see this example of people helping other people. I like to see things like this...it happens every day but it’s not brought to life. In the end (In my opinion)...it’s not how you start it’s how you finish. Mike was young and no one is prepared for that kind of fame, Money, women...etc...he has it all in abundance at young age...I don’t think I would have handled it any better. He was a global phenomenon!! Today Mike is a great family man who’s been knocked down in the game of life many times but he keeps getting up and now look at him! It tells you something about a person!
Mike Tyson is probably the most honest human being anyone will ever meet. A man who’s also not afraid to show his vulnerable side. I’m happy for Mike and where he is now in his life.
@Alisha S I saw an interview with him on Joe Rogan I believe and he said he has to get his mind into an angry and vicious state or something along those lines in order to train to fight and to fight and he didn't want to feel that anymore.
he was a therapist in a way for his childhood traumas and focused tyson's energy into becoming what he was always meant to be. he mentions Cus saved him from bullying, even mike tyson was a victim of bullying.
it's the opposite in a way..he actually feed him the fear.. or rather be aware of fear. I know..it doesn't make sense but think about it...based on his upbringing
For one of the toughest guys that ever lived, there's so much hurt and pain still inside Mike. Even here, he's holding so much of it in. I hope he gets to an even better place where he can let all that hurt out of him.
meanwhile single motherhood is praised and incentivized and the courts kick fathers in the nuts when the mom decides she wants a divorce (women initiate 70% of divorces, 90% of divorces in college educated married couples).
@ I completely understood his comment. You misunderstood mine. I was saying the courts don't prevent you from being in your child's life unless you have violent tendencies or something like that. Cus was just an example I was using of how just being in someone's life can be a father figure.

@@educatainment1799 .. I think u still missing the point bro..smh.
Cus was a very wise man. He wouldve smelled a snake like don king from a mile away. He always wanted to keep his fighters away from the mafia corrupted boxing too.
Mike Tyson is like a classic Greek Hero. He’s not perfect, he started out a sweet boy who was bullied and in a bad situation, he was trained by a legend, he became more than a warrior he became almost a monster, and now for in his that he’s older he’s able to reflect on his flaws and his mistakes, and recognize his greatness along with them. He’s literally a modern day Hercules.
Thank you bro exactly why that mf on the plane is lucky one of us weren’t on the plane with them….Don’t worry Mike I’ll handle this clown won’t leave you alone on god
⚫️ I don’t know how many millennia it will take before another trainer like Cus D’Amato comes into being!!! ⬛️ The thing about Cus is he is *UNIQUE* among all the trainers of the world, and not just because he was a great boxing coach… in fact it has nothing to do with boxing at all!!! 🖤 Cus took in, raised, provided stability, and instilled a sense of comfort in young *VULNERABLE* children. 🖤 Children on a dead end path full of negative feelings like anger, envy, jealousy, etc. 🖤 We only ever hear about the *BOXING PRODIGIES CREATED by CUS* ◾️▪️➖( Nevermind the *PRODIGY BOXING* *COACHES* that Cus created!!! )➖▪️◾️ I am sure that Cus raised more young *EMOTIONALLY & MENTALLY STABLE* young men then he did *BOXING PRODIGIES* by a *MILE* !!! 🖤 I don’t think Cus was just a great coach, but a *GREAT MAN* !!!‼️‼️‼️💯💯🖤
Yeah bro ppl can train all they want and still get scared. Everything you learned and your strengths will come out when your back is against the wall. You just have to focus.
HunterDoesFootball not him Don King’s bitch ass because he still had cus's son or nephew that kept him straight but then he died then don king slithered in and took advantage of a broken mike
"He's MY boy. He's with ME." That's so lovely. Mike is THE most open and honest person I've ever heard speak. He doesn't have that little voice in the back of the head that everyone else has. That voice that tells you "you shouldn't say this out loud", or "everyone is judging you, keep that thought inside". I'm incredibly envious of that quality. He's just so vulnerable, but in a beautiful way. 🖤
This gave me a knot in my throat, the sheer thought of a man like this allowing himself to show his vulnerability and emotion to the whole world is a testament to the wisdom of cus. He probably knew that eventually, Mike would become the great man he is today. Never knew Mike was a victim of bullies and physical abuse too, gives me a whole new insight.
Just imagine how many Mike Tysons are out there that did not have the same opportunity as Mike. If Cus was not in his life Mike would be in jail or possibly dead. The world would be so different if Mike did not exist, what a beautiful person and mind if put in the right place.
Not many... if there were, Cus would have been busy with another Mike. Mike even said that he did not find Cus, but that Cus Summoned him. That was fate, destiny, once in a millinea. But your point is 100% valid in that how many boys could be great men with a great father, me being one of them...
@@perseusrex614 Guidance towards social and emotional growth is extremely important for a child from birth to pre-teen years. The process to guide a child to develop healthy self-esteem and respect for themselves and others is crucial especially during their teenage years. Without guidance, children would develop an intimidating persona that hides their actual feelings of fear, resentment, anxieties, and unhappiness. Mike already developed these emotions when he met Cus, however, Cus's presence was so strong that gave Mike a sense of love that he never experienced in his lifetime. A love so strong he didn't want to lose or jeopardize losing it, therefore he did everything Cus wanted just to make him happy so that he can continue to love him. Mike is powerful physically beyond his years, but emotionally he is years behind. Through his intelligence, he has found the solution to his problems and continues to be a productive member of society beyond his boxing years. I thank you for your comment and wish you all the best.
An old school, white, hard, no nonsense, disciplinarian boxing trainer, meets a young, unloved, powerful, ferocious, tear away, black youth. IRON MIKE TYSON is created.
This is literally made me cry. I used to get bullied when I was little and when he mentioned how after Cus died he knew no one would fuck with him, I broke down. I started training in martial arts a few months ago and have never felt better. What an inspiration Mike and Cus.
A movie must be made about this. A Father and Son story about saving each other.. One man kept alive with the will to live and a boy kept alive with his guidance and love.
It's touching to see the story of how Cus and Tyson filled a void in each others lives like father and son, while at the same time the best heavy weight champion of all time was being created. This should be made into a movie.
Mike realized 3:13 that cus was his real dad just took a little time to find him. Cus believed in him and loved him and that's why 3:59 he gets teary. Cus gave him his love and support and knew his son was a champion and his champ. World needs more people like Cus. Mike is also a great person, much respect for both of them and their growth.
Cus really cared about Mike. I bet if he would've never passed away. Don King would've never stole all of Mike's money. May he R.I.P. He was a true legend.
look at it this way in Creed. Adonis is a young man rocky helps him with boxing and motivates him keeps him disciplined. While adonis motivates him to fight in life and keeps him running and motivated for life.
This shows how a little love, compassion, and encouragement can change a person's life. There are many mike tysons out there that nobody ever heard about because they never got a chance.
You can feel the pain in Mike’s voice when he talks about the people that bullied him and I think, that is why he can’t talk or think about Cos without choking up, that feeling you have when you’ve finally found a home; spiritually, mentally and physically is so overwhelming. I’m glad Mike Tyson got through those hard years. I think Cos would be proud of him today.
Mike can't talk about Cus without choking up. Mike is long passed whatever bs he dealt with before meeting Cus, but losing his only father figure he ever had affects him to this day.
Confidence was a huge thing for mike. Cus used to pep talk mike before fights and tell him all this stuff “your a conquerer, a destroyer, a killer, a champion, your the best ever, destroyer or worlds” etc. he forged this man into a machine
I cried when I watch this... I do hate my father but his presence and criticism made me a better man. I grateful to have a father albeit not the best one.
I'm 33. Me and my father never spoke since 2004 because of something REALLY petty. My father died suddenly from heart failure in August 2018. Hearing my mother cry on the phone and everything that came with it was the worst thing that ever happened to me. Please don't do the same mistake that I did. Love and learn how to appreciate your father the way he is. Don't try to change or correct him. Just appreciate him for who he really is. Wish you nothing but the best my man.
For sure my favorite I put him above Ali, Jackie Robinson, Michael Jordan, etc. mike Tyson is more than just a boxer, hes someone everyone can be inspired by.
I don't know if anyone ever realized this but a lot of Mike's mannerisms when he's speaking, how he speaks, how he articulates himself. If you've ever heard Cus speak, It's as if they're one in the same.
Having worked with kids in care, when Mike talks about the compliments Cus gave him and Mike doesn’t understand why, I feel that. The young adults and teenagers I worked with didn’t know how to take positive comments or commendation. A lot of the time they’d acted out irrationally, because they’ve never had anything slightly positive said to them. Over time they learn but I know first hand what he’s saying 😞
Same. It’s crazy how some things were meant to be. Cus saw something in Mike that Mike didn’t see in himself . Until he strapped on the world championship belt, and he realized what Cus taught him the most valuable lesson in life. And showed him love and brought him into his family. You can tell this means everything to Mike even til this day. He misses Cus. Cuz would’ve been proud of Mike. He became the most dominant heavy weight of all time. Tyson is a national treasure. I wish Don King would’ve been more like Cus. That’s when shit started going south. We love you Mike. Thanks for all the fights! No one will ever be as good as you 👊🏻
The Cus and Mike love story and that is exactly what it is, is one of the most profound stories in recent history. A movie should be made about these 2 remarkable men. What they achieved was phenomenal.
Cus was the greatest example of a real man in the last 100 years or more. A warrior, and a poet. Hard as bone, and sweet as marrow. The violent fire laying waste to the forest's rot, to create the most terrifying beauty eyes can behold. His was the truest love that only misery and hatred can forge; the kind of love that only a broken soul can receive.
Mike's life is so complex, I'm just happy to see him happy after all these years. He may not have been a genius, but life has taught him so much that isn't written in books.
Mike is a genius to me. He soaked up knowledge like a sponge, applied it and integrated it with real life experience that teaches you things than can’t be learned any other way. True intelligence.
The fact that his coach Cus believed in Mike more than Mike believed in himself is insane. I really wish I had an influence like Cus during my teen years.
You know what we are missing young ppl connecting to elders and elders motivation to help the youth and demand respect ppl don't help kids like they use to and young ppl don't respect and love elders mentors real mentors hard to find far few n in between the last era of real respect for elders and love of the youth from elders
Mike Tyson has really been through a lot. He sets up such a hard front to protect his deep emotions. I'm pretty sure we all can relate to this. Great interview.
This is probably the most emotional interview I've seen so far. I have nothing but respect for Mike. An amazing human beign after all he went through. Cuz Damato brought back that good will kid he had inside.
“I take a spark and fan it, I feed the flame 🔥 until it becomes a fire, I feed the fire until it becomes a roaring blaze.than I throw huge logs on now u really got a fire going “🔥 Cus is the greatest... He turn tyson into a vicious animal
My Dad passed away in 2015 and I had a dream about him (haven't dreamed of my Dad in awhile) and coincidentally just rewatched this video on a whim and instantly felt Mike's message and emotions... He was the greatest man I've ever known... I would be in jail or dead if not for my Pops...a salute to all great dads out there!
Mike is so fucking real. He LITERALLY doesn't know how to be anything else. It is too bad that Cus passed and never saw how devastatingly unmatched Mike eventually would become. I swear, I cry I everytime I watch this. His honesty is so palpable, I think everyone can relate to it.
I cry every time Tyson cry on these video’s..When someone believes in you when you don’t believe in yourself. No color or religion. I know this feeling. They don’t make them like this anymore..
You’re right. I’m 50 and saw the whole thing unfold too. There is nobody in spirts today that generates as much excitement and interest as Mike in his prime. In your words, “What a ride”! Damn right!
It makes me cry when I see Tyson cry. He has so much pain. When he says nobody will ever bully me again, he means nobody will ever make his life hell again.

Be a Father to your children people.. It is one of the most sacred and important relationships ANYONE will ever have in their lives.. Experiencing the love of a real father is something that needs to happen to every single child born into this world.
Cus was giving mike positive affirmations to instill in his mind that he can be the best and champion, and it worked. We need more people like Cus in this world, it’s very easy for someone to downplay someone else but very hard to find people who encourage, motivate, and release such positive energy to those around them.
I used to go back to New York to rob people, then come back upstate and hide out. I stopped doing all that. I changed my whole life, I said "I'm going to stick to this boxing shit". -- Champion
