When the kid goes to school or daycare whatever they go to the parents would be stupid not to put down on his enrolment that this woman is not allowed to come into the school or daycare and Definitely not allowed to pick him up or see him. You don’t need to get a restraining order to stop that it’s definitely better because if they show up and police are called multiple times for it they will get arrested or go back to prison

@@mackenziebruere593 you would think it would be this simple. I have a daughter, I have full legal and sole custody of. I signed her up for school, I was there everyday to drop her off and pick her up, the only person listed to do such…her father was not. Out of nowhere, I picked her up (she was five) and she starts telling me about how her dad came and took her out of school and took her away to hang out. I went immediately to the school and asked what was going on?! He did NOT have permission to show up and take her out of school and especially that I was NEVER notified of this, instead I am hearing it from my five year old. Long story short, principal said “if he’s the father he can do what he wants” I was enraged, I had sole custody to protect my daughter. I had to go to the HR department of the school district, who went to the attorney of the school district and they went after the principal for his complete lack of concern that they were supposed to be caring for my daughter while she was in their possession, and instead basically anyone could walk in off the street and take her as long as they say “they know her”. Principal got in huge trouble for going against a court order, and only after he was brought in and told this by the head of the school district and the attorney was it put in place that her father was not to step foot on the school property without my permission. He did it a few times before I got it to stop. It was really difficult for my daughter, she didn’t like it (he had been absent most of her life) and I was so stressed even letting her go to school because I didn’t know if when I went to pick her up if she would be there or not. Her father is a narcissist a lot like this MIL. It’s such a difficult thing to deal with, they never stop.

@@shannons9963 that’s so messed up, the school should not have allowed him to do that. Most schools, or at least schools in my town, won’t let a student leave with someone who isn’t in their system. Pretty much, at the beginning of the school year the parents fill out a sheet saying who is allowed to pick up/sign out the child. The school won’t let students leave with someone who isn’t on that list. However, when I was in school, I had my mom call a few times to give the school permission to let me leave with someone who wasn’t on my list. But that’s the only exception I’ve ever seen. I’m so sorry that the school system betrayed you like that
@JuliaJiggs

@@mackenziebruere593 I think you overestimate the school/daycare system. I wouldn't trust either to always turn away a grandparent. I would've gotten the restraining order for even showing up at the house, especially after she had "seen" them out with a baby stroller even though the couple is pretty much estranged with the mother. That was a red flag for me.
@mackenziebruere593
@mackenziebruere593 2 года назад
@@JuliaJiggs I know for a fact that in New Zealand and Australia where I’ve both lived and currently live in Australia if you do not have a parent or guardian on enrolment form the only way that the child can be picked up or see that person is if the parent who is on the form has contacted the school or daycare to let them know that this person is coming to pick them up. Obviously the system in the US is completely different I believe that’s where the story comes from.

i can speak from experience, this was not an "accident", it was neglect. point blank. when i was 2 years old my babysitter left me alone in her backyard with a pool. i climbed into said pool and i drowned. the story is long with a lot of medical details i don't feel are necessary to share, but im only alive because my brain reverted back to being inside the womb and turned my body into survival mode. my babysitter spent 10 whole minutes looking in the house before even thinking to check her pool, which she had seen me try to get into before. my babysitter thankfully got around 7-9 years for child negligence, but it doesnt change the trauma my family suffered. leaving a toddler unattended around a body of water, is NEVER an accident.

When i was a kid maybe 3-4 years old we went to a amusement park that had a mini golf course. I was walking around with my cousin (same age) and i didn't want to hold his hand, so he pushed me into a small pond , deep enough for me to drown. I tried to stay afloat and wildly splashed my arms while doing it, my dad saw something splashing in the water, dropped his stuff and yelled " A CHILD IS DROWNING" and jumped in to drag me out. After he got me out he realised, it wasn't A child drowning , it was HIS child that was drowning 😂. I was fine and running around like 30 minuted later again, This didn't have any long term effects on me either, so i got extremely lucky. Thank you dad.

Brain reverted back to being inside the womb? The only reason babies don’t drown in the womb is because they don’t breathe by themselves. They get their oxygen from the umbilical cord/placenta. Also, baby sitter got seven years even though you didn’t die? I don’t think think any of those things are possible to be honest, sorry if that is rude but if you’re telling the truth that is miraculous.

To prove me wrong my inlaws gave my daughter water as a newborn. I was following Drs advice of never give newborns water in Phx, AZ in the summer because it can lead to dangerous electrolyte imbalances which can happen anywhere but with the heat in Arizona it was something the pediatrician said over and over. To add to the fucked up risk they took the water in their area had a contamination that could kill fully grown adults and they had been told bottled water only until the city fixed the issue. My inlaws gave her tap water to prove me wrong and declared “she likes it” like that was the issue. Needless to say they never watched her again.

This story breaks my heart. I remember hearing it on the full episode and balling my eyes out. Just to think there's so many things she could have done differently. When I would watch and take care of my nieces around her daughters age I would make fun out of the mundane things and doing the laundry was one of them. When I had to switch the laundry I would bring them with me and they would help me switch it and I would hand them small items, and they would put the dryer sheets in and lift them up to press the button to turn it on and they loved it. I don't see how as a grandma she didn't think of even bringing her granddaughter with her to switch them. Also she just cried for help until a neighbor heard her and they jumped in for her. Why didn't she jump in? If it's a pond which aren't too deep for adults she could have saved her but she just cried for help to have someone do it for her. I just can't believe she only got 3 years for killing her grand daughter and expects them to forgive her.

Now, I can't stress this enough, there are legal Grandparents rights. They do not apply here. Grandparents Rights laws apply when one of the parents die and the remaining parent is not allowing the parents of the deceased spouse any access. There are legal avenues they can peruse to see their Grandchildren. This does not apply to this situation and the fact that this entitled MIL with a criminal child neglect charge, especially when it resulted in death, thinks she can use Grandparents Rights laws to see her children is laughable.

These parents NEED to draw up a will and use verbiage the courts will respect. We are in the U.S. so it was easy for us to keep my MIL away from my kids. She threatened to take just my son, as he’d be all that was left of her “son” if he died fighting for our nation! Who does this?! So we headed straight to our JAG and they wrote a clear and concise NON CONTESTABLE will. AKA a living trust! These poor parents! This is terrible! If I were this MIL, I’d work on awareness. I’d strive for a cosmic forgiveness, not forgiveness from the parents. She can bring awareness to her mistakes and help others not to make the same mistake again! I’d HELP OTHERS! Then I’d settle in for a good long wait for my kids to be able to call me, speak to me, and maybe someday FORGIVE ME!

So many comments on here are highlighting the fact that this story isn't one of an accident, it's neglect, point blank period, and they're absolutely right. I started nannying for a family right before I started college, and I would nanny for them every summer and occasionally during the school year. When I was taking care of the younger sister during the summer (she was four at the time, I was 19), her mom suggested we go to a water park because she had day passes. I agreed, packed up all our stuff, and we headed to the water park. The ENTIRE 3-4 hours we stayed at this park, she did not leave my sight, and I was almost always with her wherever she went (unless it was on the play structures I was too big for). She was wearing floaties, but I knew that if something happened to her I would never, ever, forgive myself. As we were leaving, a man approached me and asked how old my "daughter" was. I laughed (because I couldn't believe this man thought a four year old was MY child since I was still a child), and said she wasn't mine, just the kid I was babysitting. He looked really surprised and said "wow, I just assumed she was yours. we've (him and his family) have been here the whole time you guys have and you haven't left her side. I just assumed you were her mom". I took these precautions as a BABYSITTER because I knew that a child's life was in my care and she was my responsibility. That grandmother (if you can even call her that) can rot and I hope she never is allowed to be near a child ever again.

When my mom baby sat for my sister, she and my dad only left the room in shifts, even when J was sleeping. Granted, she was only a couple months at the time, but even now, she's 4, and when she's at my parents house, there is always one set of eyes on her at all times or my mom will cook you into chili and feed you to the coyotes. Mom doesn't mess around with her grand babies safety, and my understanding, is that's true of both grandmothers. I always thought that's how all grandparents are.

I don't feel this was an "I was just gone for a moment" situation. Not only was this no accident, but it felt intentional. The behavior she displayed throughout the whole ordeal was sickening. I'm wondering if she had a psychic evaluation when she went to court? How was she when her son was growing up? Because that is just way beyond not normal. And the way she wanted to take care of her new grandson . . . The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Like she had murderous intentions.

So where I live you can get Grandparents rights really easily, especially if your child dies and their partner refuses to let you see your grandchild (which happened to my folks). But for instance in some states like Florida, they don't have anything like grandparents rights no matter what, so you're SOL. In any case though that lady would never get them. They're like visitation rights BTW, custody is a whole other ballgame.

You brought up very valid info with regards to grandparent rights. I’m not a lawyer, but work in the legal field. Grandparent rights are usually only granted within a very narrow scope. In my state, I’ve only observed them being granted in situations where one parent dies and the surviving parent cuts contact with the dead parents family (and are able to prove in court to have a previously established healthy relationship with the child).

As a CPS worker in California, grandparents do not have any legal rights to visit or speak with their grandchildren. It’s a privilege for grandparents to have access to their grandchildren. This grandma could go to Court to ask for visitation rights; however, if she thinks that her criminal history won’t come into play, she is surely mistaken. This grandma is so twisted!

Courts wouldn't give her the child if the parents are deemed unfit. Not with a child endangerment conviction. They'd put the child in foster care before they let her have it. And would likely take the child away from the parents if they let her spend time with the son.

Sometimes they help me put clothes in the dryer or sweep even though the broom is taller than them . We also had a hot tub . When im done in the hot tub then everyone is done . We put the heavy board cover down . Yeah they would protest but I would put my foot down or I watch them outside the tub. It takes 1 second for them to get into something or put themselves in danger .
