i know what you mean. seeing these guys perform wcs makes me want to pick it too. i tried it back in december but my feeble brain is only capable of handling a few dances at a time. right now, salsa and bachata are it
the WCS is great, I don't like lindyhop in general and I don't know enough about it to give my opinion on the lindyhop part but they did a great job on the WCS!
u no only like 125k people viewed this. Because any1 who dances has watched this atleast 4 times. One time you watch it. the 2nd time you watch the upperbody. the 3d time you watch the feet. then the other time you watch what the follower/leader's doin :)
Great!!! Love the lindy hop! For the WCS, if the girl can sway more on her body and leg (the guy is great!), it will be perfect! Oh god, now I am thinking to go back to Lindy and WCS from salsa
Lindy girls also tend to be exposed to a greater variety of whole body movement in their dance - Lindy switches between Charleston, can be mixed with Balboa, Hip Hop, Blues, Shag, etc and employs the whole 360 degrees of space. They also tend to rely on improvation to a greater degree, rather than set, practiced moves. This tends to make them more flexible in switching between dances.
The first dance seems to be more lindy than west coast. There were more Charleston type moves typical of lindy and the music was swing music. The second dance is classic west coast swing as it was danced to a piece that is not swing music. As well, there were more very flashy, smooth turns in the second dance.
hey, this has been driving me crazy: what is that opening beat in the michael buble song from? listen to the music playing from 0:11 to 0:30; i swear i've heard that beat in another swing song before. in fact, it was on an old oreo/nabisco commercial several years ago. lol, you wouldn't happen to have any idea what i'm talking about, would you? where that beat is from, what song?
@twelve50two She couldn't be barefoot, considering she had a few heel leads and slides that would be impossible without actual heels. Her shoes just make it look like it sometimes. ;)
Both Lindy and WC are 6 and 8 count dances. Its not the counts that make them difficult to switch between properly - its the frame, body position, floor connection and styling. And yes, partner connection. Counts have little to do with it as Lindy and WC share a fair amount of count and "move" vocabulary. As for EC - it doesn't take much to master it - most people just never bother to do it well.
east coast swing sucks Unless you're talking about the lindy universe West Coast is different from Lindy. They are good for different reasons. People are ignorant when they insult one when they haven't put any effort into learning it. Both are amazing dances!
So there must be different categories for swing, this must be for beginners. If that is the case I can see how they might be champs, and what the hell is up with the second song? That was pretty bad...
Eh, their lindy wasn't that great. Westie girls have a very difficult time Lindy Hopping because they have a hard time getting the frame, partner connection and floor connection correct. Personally I don't like WC in general - it bodyrolls too much. It forces sex INTO the dance TO the music when the sex should come FROM the music INTO the dance. So I think we're even. :)
