I don’t particularly feel bad for him but my heart goes out to him. He seemed like he was screaming for help and love yet was repeatedly disregarded. His parents failed him, after all their focus was on everything else besides him. He’s literally a child, at 15 that kind of heart and those voices in his head seem overbearing. That boy was living with a lot of mental and emotional pain. He not only took lives but he lost his own, not yet realizing the value. I pray he finds peace!

No one will love a shooter, but this case i fell very sorry for Ethan. Children are blessing from God which his parents did not value which let him to jail. Their is no one to give him moral support even during this court hearing which breaks my heart and cry. Whatever his crime might be he too is a God creation, we r all sinners in front of our heavenly Father. So 🙏 everyday that he will get forgiveness from the victims one day which his parents failed. Everyone needs a second chance in life. My prayer that he will get life with paroul.

THIS KID HAD NO POSITIVE MENTORS IN HIS LIFE

This only gives one side of the story; the prosecution´s side. No mental health expert has to this day diagnosed Ethan Crumbley as mentally ill. He was fit to stand trial as a competent adult. Which should immediately legally let the parents off the hook since he confessed. He made a decision to commit a crime, just like Charles Manson and Ted Bundy. The sympathy for the shooter in these comments is only a reflection of the sad state of American society. Just like the sympathy and the copycatting of the Columbine shooters. How pathetic. You can all produce a child that can eventually become a criminal no matter what you do. Just so you know. You do not live in your kids minds. I have never in my life known more overbearing parents on Earth than American parents and the overbearing ineffective American public school system.

This is a classic case of a human being deprived of love and attention all his life, feeling he has no value to anyone. He was isolated and alone. It destroyed his emotional stability. He became hardened and the constant alienation and lack of belonging took its horrible toll. This post is not about innocence or guilt or what type of punishment should be imposed. This is about a little child who never had the security of loving, attentive parents. A child who had nobody…no one. The human psyche can’t take it. Connection is needed as much as food and water. We need to learn from this. Mental health matters. This was child neglect and abuse wreaking havoc on a heart and soul. He is responsible, but it could have been prevented.

This kid new better, the only one who can help is help yourself first. Blaming the parents is not going to change the situation or prevent the next shooting. Ethan had many chances to stop and ask the correct people for help. The kid needs more then help, love ,hugs and money. I see his mom as trying to keep up with the Jones next store, ashamed her son has troubles. You are a special breed when you torture baby birds, and kill people and wish to be a serial killer. There is no help for him to be in the real world.
@carrielassiter8455
@carrielassiter8455 5 месяцев назад
@@Linusdmc when he was a little, little boy he did not want to torture birds or be a serial killer. It developed over time. He never had anyone. A child needs love and security and identity to feel that they matter. A person’s psyche (especially a developing child) can only go so long feeling invisible and uncared for. It literally changes the brain formation. Mental illness is real.

Ethan is a sociopath and can’t be rehabilitated. This is obvious when he tortured and killed those poor birds and took pleasure in it. He definitely did not have an ideal childhood but it wasn’t the worst. He didn’t want anyone to stop him from cold blooded murder because he had the opportunity to seek help from people other than his parents and he didn’t do it. He planned it and was looking forward to it and hoping that it caused maximum pain to the victims and their families. And listening to him speaking on that recording it’s obvious that he wanted to go to prison for life so he would never have to work and he would be able to hang around people just like him. He made sure he couldn’t get the death penalty and surrendered quickly so he wouldn’t be killed. What a coward and a callous monster.

This is an articulate boy. His thoughts are clear in what he wants. In no terms does he ever say he wants to die or commit suicide. The mother, seems to want that for her son, say here is a new gun, go do what you need to do with it. The mother was thinking more along the lines of suicide never in a million years would she have thought he would be a school shooter killing several students. Her thoughts, or wishes actually backfired on her and now here they are.

I feel bad for this generation. Between COVID and the internet these kids are isolated. I know I was up to my tutu in political alligators via Twitter, Tiktok and Reddit and I was being fed big scoops of propaganda- from both sides. Jan 6th I deleted all my accounts and started living a life without politics or politicians. It’s really nice out here. This kid wasn’t old enough to even experience the online stories he heard about college or student loans. He thinks there is no future. But Bill Gates, Jeff Basos, Obama, Bill Clinton, the apple guy (dead brain here sorry), Oprah, Meghan Markle, Adam Lambert, Johnnie Depp etc - all came from working class families. I am proud to be from a working class family and I saved my money and although I don’t have Kardashian money, I have enough to enjoy my life. The shame here is his family didn’t show him a different path, and continued to isolate this kid. COVID really hurt the young students and they lack social skills because of it. I am not saying he shouldn’t be charged as an adult I am just empathetic because this isn’t the only kid suffering.

Right but you must not know the purpose of a miller hearing. The Miller ruling identified five factors to be considered in determining whether (with discretion) to impose a sentence of life without parole on a juvenile: the juvenile's age and immaturity; family home environment; circumstances of the offense, including the role the juvenile had in the offense and any influence of peer pressure; the incapacities of youth that may have disadvantaged the juvenile in dealing with the justice system (e.g., challenges dealing with police or participation in court); and the juvenile's potential for rehabilitation. These have become known as the Miller factors.

42:40 No one is innocent here accept the people who were murdered. Not Ethan who could’ve called 911 saying he couldn’t stop thinking about violence, Then he could’ve got a 51/50 and been separated from his triggering situation and diagnosed with the schizophrenia and OCD or just plain brain damage he has, So he had a chance to understand that just bc he has violent thoughts or hallucinations doesn’t mean he HAS to act on them. The brain is the computer of the body and his was obviously damaged. His parents who made their 14 year old child handle and dispose of their large dog once it had died, And both threatened suicide in their 900sqft house. He also had major concussions as a child and was never seen by a neurologist he plain lost consciousness at work randomly and STILL was never seen that’s a plain sign of brain damage-No emotional support or direction in his life in anyway, Not the school administrators who did ask if he was actively suicidal but never asked if he had any way of doing so to either Ethan or his parents. In California his bag would’ve been automatically searched without even asking for permission bc that’s an agreement in the school rules. Ethan planned the killing and wrote down other horrid thoughts, But he also planned on getting caught bc deep down he didn’t want his plan to happen. Why else would he try so hard to get caught even amidst a concussion or trauma induced psychosis. That’s why he put bullets on the table in his class, When comments were made that his bag was heavy he told teachers to open it and look inside, He witnessed fellow classmates who were suspected of drug use completely searched locker bags and all and thought that if he straight wrote scary pictures and all caps “HELP ME” on his completed test that he would be searched, Get in trouble, Then someone would care about him enough to get the help he needs. Though he deserves to be tried as an adult bc homicide should be considered an adult act, He was a child struggling with no direction amongst major brain damage. There was no one to explain to Ethan that his brain is growing and just bc he has intrusive thoughts as a young teen doesn’t mean he has to act on them. That he needs to protect himself and others and not act on them bc even if his horrid mind state is temporary the punishment will be lifelong. When someone gets a major concussion like he has those intrusive thoughts can easily become very weird I bet they scared Ethan and anyone who heard them, But this isn’t unusual. Even malnourishment starvation and lack of sleep can cause hallucinations is healthy people and weird intrusive thoughts memory problems especially while your healing from a concussion. I’ve had major concussions from falls and I can’t imagine major social situations like school while I was healing. He never found a good neurologist or doctor at all to guide his through what was happening to him or the healing process of the brain. Almost everyone if not everyone has dumb what if I did this thoughts while growing up, The part of your brain that is logic is amidst developing, It’s the least prominent in that part of your life, He needed guidance to not think he has to be like that forever and needs to practice thinking about what a good person is to him and being that. To be coached to understand that just bc he thought about doesn’t mean he’s obligated to do it(Ethan had or has ocd and felt obligated)Just bc he thought it while young with multiple concussions doesn’t mean that’s who he has to be for the rest of his life. The chance and control he has to not act on those intrusive thoughts is the power to contain them in that part of his life saving him the ability to move on one day and not be trapped in the terror of those thoughts. Now that he has acted on them he has forced himself and thousands of other people to live in the terror of his actions for the rest of their life. Even if he changes, Grows to be a good person with internal morals, Heals well from brain injuries up until he’s 26(which would be a surprise in jail nutrition)He’ll never have a chance to live like a real person. You can see the terror in him at 42:40+ that he will now be forced to live in for the rest of his life, And so will the families and the fellow students. I’m not saying to give Ethan sympathy bc in reality he doesn’t deserve it, The only people who do are the families of those who were killed and the students who were at the school. But if we really want to prevent this and answer what caused it? Look at the situation as a whole. At one point Ethan was a good kid who showed genuine empathy, Now he’s truly lost forever bc even if he becomes a good person he could never live with himself. 5 good kids lost. The parents should be in for life, Who ever runs that diner where Ethan was injured and strawberry farm, Should’ve called an ambulance immediately and cps for the parents not caring. He to the core believed no one cared about him. Don’t have children unless you have the ability in your life to give them everything the truly need, It’s a lot. Or good lives will be wasted.
