I want to increase your awareness of the fact that there are microbes living in your mattress.
These tiny microbes thrive on your mattress and your pillow. Some of them may bite you. Others may cause you to wake up with allergy symptoms. But, don’t worry, we’ll also cover what you can do about this.
Microbes living in your mattress:
1. Dust mites
2. Bed bugs
3. Fungus and bacteria
4. Pet dander
5. Chemicals
What you can do:
1. Regularly wash your bedding with very hot water and baking soda
2. Reduce humidity as much as you can
3. Avoid pet exposure to your bed
4. Get a good air purifier
5. Vacuum your mattress on a regular basis

This is also why people need to take their shoes off when coming into the house. You are tracking in viruses, bacteria, parasites and other pathogens into your house. A lot of people walk into public bathrooms during the day.....ya you’re bringing all that into your house.
@joeriv5462

To get technical Doc, fungi and bacteria are the only microorganisms in your list (dander and chemicals aren't even living organisms). It's perfectly normal to have bacteria and fungi on your bed and sheets because they're pretty much everywhere. It would be extremely strange if your bed was a sterile environment
@oysteinsoreide4323
@oysteinsoreide4323 2 года назад
It can be helpful to keep the humidity below 50% though, so fungi will not become too fond of the environment.

It's mind boggling how there's a lot of people who won't have a clue what you mean. #1. Take bleach spray for the bathroom and sink. #2. Use a disinfectant on everything, especially the phone and door knobs. Just spray it on everything you might touch. #3. Think that comforter is cleaned after each guest leaves? No. It doesn't. Toss it in a corner. You're welcome. I know a family who takes their bedding and towels with them while on vacation. I hope this helps whomever reads it. Stay safe out there! ☮️💖🙏🇺🇸🇮🇱🇺🇦✝️

Thank you Dr Berg for the video. I actually do what you've mentioned about adding baking soda to the washing machine; on the top of the washing powder, plus distilled vinegar, and a perfumed disinfectant to mask the vinegar smell, all to help prevent orders or built up fungus inside the machine, I think this comes handy as well for all other harmful creatures on the bedding sheets 😅 Regarding the mattress itself: I vacuum it weekly, and as well steam it with a steam machine, which I add a combination of water and drops of tea tree oil in its compartment. The oil eliminates any bacteria and gives a fresh scent to the mattress.

Dust mites do bite. I'm only telling this because I hope it helps someone. My bed is against a wall and for several months something was eating my legs up and the situation was compounded by scratching them to the point of bleeding. I would pull the mattress out from the wall and vacuum down the wall but the problem persisted. Please understand, I believe in good hygiene and I wash my sheets regularly. However these measures only eased the situation for a little while then it would begin again. I found no traces of bedbugs. Finally, I came across a video that suggested spraying your mattress with an even mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water to kill dust mites. It worked! My legs have healed! No more sores or scratching. Hoped this helps someone. I don't think I would reccomend this for colored mattress.

We would be living in skin cell dust up to our eyeballs without dust mites. I’m not sure where you are going with this. We live symbiotic existences with mites. Man has lived alongside beast of some sort since the beginning of time. Having your cat sleep sleep in another room will change nothing. Air your bed, launder sheets once a week, wash mattress pad a couple of times a year and vacuum mattress at that time, and follow manufactures advice on replacing mattress. Parasites are an entirely different and infrequent problem if you care for your pets properly.

For the bugs I have two words: diatomaceous earth. Not that expensive, available at any farm store, and SURPRISINGLY EFFECTIVE on bugs. My building had bugs and they wanted to spray a bunch of nasty chemicals/poisons. I said no. The DE worked GREAT - problem solved. FYI, you don't want the industrial filter kind which is processed - you want the kind they feed to cows and horses or the food grade kind. Combine that with the washing and the vacuuming. There are places (maybe not your bedroom) where boric acid may also be useful as pest control. Of course, YMMV.

Yes, it is excellent. However vacuuming it up is a problem and can damage a household vacuum and is not good for the lungs.

I GOT RID OF MOST of my bbugs by sprinkling my mattress & floor beneath with borax powder once every 2-3 months. also inside my pillowcases. but make sure its PURE borax like ENZO (ebay & some grocerystores ) put the borax between mattress & fitted sheet it will kill most microbes as well & is natural mined from beneath ancient seabeds borax will get rid of itching & no negative side effects i have asthma & chemical allergies most my life but PURE borax has no bad effects on these issues whatsoever...i even use borax for underarm deoderant AND a diluted eyewash . it stops dry/itchy eyes been using pure ENZO borax for 5years now

I don't think that is a good idea, after all this is so deadly because the particles are so incredibly small that they can get into anything, including the trachea of tiny bugs. So you don't want it anywhere near where it can get in your lungs, especially not on your mattress.
@tomjohnson9338

Annie here; We inherited a mattress which is full of dustmites. I covered the whole thing with a dust mite cover of fine close woven , fabric and a tight zip, which is also moisture proof. I hope that the more modern filling of duvets and pillows are allergy friendly through being dust mite unfriendly ? Add to this a regular airing of the room, followed by regular zapping with ultra violet light room sterilizer, an air purifier when needed, and a de humidifier when needed.

My sister had these. She went for a regular check up and the doc noticed them and wanted to check her cholesterol and did some blood work. Her cholesterol was sky high. She went on meds for awhile and then changed the way she ate and they went away. Not saying that is what it is but you might research or get some blood work done to make sure.

@@gayle1548 Thanks for the feedback. On the Interent I found it's a symptom of excessive protein build-up or inability to digest protein. I've found this in teaching of the Prophet Mohammed pbuh .. Abu Hurairah (ra) narrated that : the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “When one of you leaves his bed then returns to it, then let him brush it off with the edge of his Izar three times, for indeed, he does not know what succeeded him upon it after him. When he lies down, let him say: ‘In Your Name, my Lord, I lay my side down, and in Your Name I raise it. And if You take my soul, then have mercy upon it, and if You release it, then protect it with that which You protect Your righteous worshipers (Bismika rabbī waḍa`tu janbī wa bika arfa`uhu, fa’in amsakta nafsī farḥamhā wa in arsaltahā faḥfaẓhā bimā taḥfaẓu bihī `ibādakaṣ-ṣāliḥīn)’ And when he awakens, let him say: All praise is due to Allah, Who healed me in my body, and returned to me my soul, and permitted me to remember Him (Al-ḥamdulillāh alladhī `āfānī fī jasadī wa radda `alayya rūḥī wa adhina lī bidhikrih).’”

Very informative, however, germaphobes are always sick. My only concern would be bed bugs, but others are welcome in my bedroom. After all, our home is colonized with bacteria and fungus, as long as they are not pathogens, they are ok. No way I would ever sleep without my window open as I love the fresh air and live in forest. No home plant can replace the quality of air. About the dogs, there are loads of studies how good and beneficial they are for the owners immune system and mental health. Don’t have a dog at the moment, and if I get one, I wouldn’t sleep with one, as I don’t let my kids sleeping in my bed ( they can come for a cuddle, but that’s it). But when I was a kid, I slept with my dog and unlike many other kids, neither me or my siblings were never sick
