You guys should look into getting an Arcdroid cnc plasma robot. I recently got one to use with my Unimig cut 30 plasma and it’s amazing. Makes mini fab jobs like this so much easier.
I have an idea for the fuel filler blank out. Add a kill switch and possibly isolated battery terminals to charge it when needed without any need to open the boot.
Love the Mini Fab!!! Most Internet historians believe max angle for turbos is around 10 degrees for Journal turbos and 15 for Ball bearing, looks sick though :D
mini fab - love the extra details no one will see but kind of wondering if you clocked the turbo housing pointing down and welded on a 90 and just had a more of a straighter pipe it might look cleaner and use a wiggins clamp or something idk but making the clearance for the pipe will look factory when painted, great touch
Think you can do a 10-15deg tilt on turbo. Also if you run a fuel flex sensor there is no need to change fuel at the track. Just sort tune for 98to e85 blends
I think the go in changing fuel at the track is to flush the cell to get the ethanol content as high as possible to get the map as aggressive as possible for track duties, hard to get the ethanol %age high enough if there's 98 in the tank diluting the e85
My last install instructions i believe it could be up to 15 degree's horizontal, have a look at most promod turbo setups, they are on some wild angles.
Those cars are running comp turbo’s..Comp turbo’s run a sealed unit no oil feed needed.. The angle of the turbo will be an issue at that angle ..oil will push over the edge of the seal ..imo
Looking forward to the many mini fab days in front of me with my cortina build really loving the show as you boys are going through everything I'm going through and gunna have to go through
G'day guys, Some nice work on the front of the car. Word of the day, Minifab So thanks for the video, hopefully the fuel line connections will be in for next week. ✌️ Peace from Melbourne/Pakenham.
Mini fab - havent finished the vid yet but i was just looking at the turbo and my uneducated brain went hmm i wonder if that will affect oil drainage or anything, eh surely these guys know better than me... and then not 5 secs later Michael voiced the same question haha
Q. Why didn't you clock the inducer housing more towards the intercooler piping and remove the tight bend silicone hose? This would have given you a nearly direct straight line to the intercooler pipe.
Re low turbo and oil question. Check out Carnage video re ute build. His turbo was mounted low and spat the oil out at the end of The Drag Challange Ute Finally Runs video and in the next one he discusses the issue and his solution.
The way that turbo sits will not drain oil out properly. It will blow smoke. Also why not clock the turbo compressor housing the other way and avoid that sharp bend in the exit?
MINI-FAB!! When i first bought my nut-cert device, i had it in my mind it was like a pop rivet gun... bent the first pair pretty badly... PSA, nut-certs dont pop.
