You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ru-vid.comUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

I just purchased one of these mini table saws for myself from Amazon and it arrived today. I spent about two hours putting it together and making adjustments. Mine is a 6 generation with the lift saw blade. I am using it to make some half laps using Wood that is 7 cm x 20 cm. I am making my grooves 3.5 cm deep on the 7cm dimension. The first adjustment I made was to remove the metal fence from the “ruler” (miter gauge) and then I removed the degree dial. Then I adjusted the degree dial so the fence would sit at a 90 degree angle and put a wooden piece on for the fence instead of the metal fence that came with the miter gauge. Then I added two small washers under the degree dial. Doing this lifted the miter gauge off of the tabletop. It had been dragging as you slid it forward and back. Secondly, I solved the problem of dust collection. I had the Flexiport Click-Connect Upgrade Kit from Rockler in my shop and one of the connectors fit in the dust port on the saw with a little persuasion from a flathead screw driver I was able the push the rubber nozzle in to the second ring groove, then I added some tape around the port to seal off the edges of the port. After adjusting the fence on the miter gauge to the blade, I removed the “Backing” fence/bezel face shield and adjusted the height of the blade and cut (using the original blade) the grooves, finishing the edges with a chisel to get a tight fit for the overlapping half lap.

You’re amazing! I made the dust collection work by cutting the opening to fit my smaller shop vac that is hooked up to a small paint bucket wind tunnel device so the bad doesn’t collect everything. I’d like to see your see your wooden fence design! I’ll study on what you wrote as it sounds like some good ideas 👍👍. Thanks for sharing .

I agree. I’m overdue to make an update: If you stress the motor any, it will burn out the dc transformer. The good news is that I took it in to a local electronics shop and they fixed me up with a much better transformer and it now cuts harder wood. Not sure when I will post something? Doesn’t solve the no tilting issue but works much better now!

What is the brand name? What does it cost? (range) What are its dimensions? (It looks really small, esp compared with the classic Proxxon 7070 and the MicroLux Mini Tilt Arbor Table Saw. The box it came in -- was there a larger box to house that cheap cardboard box?
@BoilerDan1
@BoilerDan1 3 года назад
Price currently is listed as $114.95. It’s obviously an import and there are different companies that buy in bulk then use whatever names they want. Ranging in prices from $99-$200. It’s an inexpensive mini table saw for craft work. I use it to cut thin pieces and I don’t think it has much power. Here’s a link to the item on Amazon. You can find the measurements from there. The top is about 9 1/2” X 8”. It’s definitely an entry level item with nothing fancy. No tilting blade. I did put on a 4” blade and it worked. Thanks for watching 👍

@@BoilerDan1 Thanks for all the additional information. About a year ago I thought about getting the Proxxon 7070 (retailing about $365 or so). It has been unavailable, perhaps due to CoVid issues in manufacturing, shipping or what not. So I have also considered the Proxxon chop saw, which has fewer features and is cheaper, about $100 less. This item is also hard to find these days. My sense is that the Proxxon table saw is a bit larger than your saw. One more thing: many years ago I had a Dremel mini table saw and it was frustrating. The thing was not accurate and I never was happy with the untrue cuts.

Those green drive belts don't they slip? Wouldn't gt2 timing belts with teeth be better? Thank you!
@BoilerDan1
@BoilerDan1 Год назад
This saw is really for light duty. For that I’ve not had any problems. But if you try to cut something not light, it does bog down. Although a belt with teeth sounds great…. I think you burn out the transformer or motor. I only use it for model ship building.
@joeynuggetz

Table saws this small are potential tools to make small model furniture but you didn't really give any indication on the precision capabilities of this saw. Hows the fence? Does it clamp on square to the blade at both ends? Any slop in the miter gauge channel? etc. What size blades does it take and are there any better after market ones?
@BoilerDan1
@BoilerDan1 2 года назад
It’s not precise, So you need to line up the fence on both ends as it’s just two thumb screws to hold it square. But it works for me. The blade holds steady considering the price and for light hobby work. The blade: 4.5"(110mm) Circular Saw Blade I ordered a 60 Tooth Cutting Fine Finishing Table Saw Blades for Woodworking Rotary Tool with 3/5"(16mm) Arbor and it’s giving me a smoother cut. Thanks for watching and the constructive criticism 👍👍

Would it cut Vinyl Plank Flooring?
@BoilerDan1
@BoilerDan1 Год назад
I don’t think so. Since the posting, I tried to cut a thicker piece of oak and it burned out the transformer. The company replaced it for free, but Vinyl flooring would put a lot of drag on the blade. Light duty crafting is what I would recommend. Thanks for watching.👍

@BoilerDan1
@BoilerDan1 2 года назад
Thanks, I may give that a try in the future. Since getting the mini lathe and mini table saw, I invested in a drill press too. It’ll definitely drill into brass! Thanks for watching and your thoughts 👍👍
@kellanaldous7092
@kellanaldous7092 3 года назад
You'd think they would have made it with an adjustable stop block at the front edge of the fence so that you can use the miter gauge for repeatable cuts without running them up the entire fence which is really dangerous. If the offcut gets pinched between the blade and fence you could find yourself eating a flying chunk of material. I don't understand why you'd put a drill chuck on the side, either. Very strange but i suppose if this is the only power tool you own, at least you can do a little sanding with it, or even chuck up a drill bit and just push the work piece into it. Actually, that could be brilliant for getting perfect 90° holes, if you have a good flat surface to work with. Thanks for the review :) oh, and is that a custom saw blade or does it use one from a circular saw thatd be easy to replace?
@BoilerDan1
@BoilerDan1 3 года назад
I was able to order a thinner blade on Amazon, so yes it’s a standard size that’s easily replaced. I’m considering trying to make some kind of jig to make repetitive cuts….. I’m only using for light duty type cuts and so far so good! I agree with you regarding the drill chuck? Not sure what they were thinking. Maybe sometime I’ll hook a drum sander on it??? Thanks for watching and providing some feedback. I’m sure it’ll help other viewers too! 👍👍
@kellanaldous7092
@kellanaldous7092 3 года назад
@@BoilerDan1 I just had an even simpler idea for making safe repetitive cuts, just clamp a small c clamp or whatever you have on the fence closest to the user side of the saw, and bump your wood up against that before pushing forward to make the cut.
@BoilerDan1
@BoilerDan1 3 года назад
You should make RU-vid videos 😂👍
@duffnorris9864
@duffnorris9864 2 года назад
I saw someone had made a mini sled for one of these to do repetitive cuts. Rather than tracks that slid in the table (as a sled would have on a regular table saw) they made it to slide along the out side of the full table. It seemed to work really well and the stop block idea is perfect too. the only hitch would be if you can get the blad high enough to accommodate the sled and your material. I’m going to try this.
@BoilerDan1
@BoilerDan1 2 года назад
Thanks for watching and joining the conversation. Just want to mention that it’s a light duty saw. I tried maxing it out and the transformer burned out. Seller replaced it but ever since I have used it for light cuts. Still like it but want to keep people informed.👍👍

The blade guard/cover is totally in the way and actually makes ripping dangerous. You need to be able to apply downward pressure especially on that small , short length piece you attempted to cut only to find you couldn't complete the cut. Downward pressure is almost as important as forward pressure when ripping because the back teeth are constantly trying to lift it up off the table. I also assume the blade is not of great quality and may not have enough set to the teetth to cut efficiently?
@BoilerDan1
@BoilerDan1 2 года назад
At the time, I had not obtained a push stick. You’re correct that you need downward pressure to complete the cut. I have since obtained a quality push stick (X2). I’ve also replaced the blade with one with more teeth to get smoother cut. I will add that I only use this for light cutting in craft type cuts. Specifically wooden model ships. For light duty I’m happy with it. You’re right that any power tool involving a blade cane be dangerous. Thanks for watching and expressing your concern.👍👍

@@BoilerDan1 oh that’s what I want it for hehe. I have a serious table saw. I want this for thin balsa wood mostly. I think it will work fine. I’m ok with taking multiple cuts or even modifying the machine to my needs. I have a proper lathe for polishing. I’m just looking for a quiet accurate saw to cut small hobby stock.
@BoilerDan1
@BoilerDan1 Год назад
Should work fine for that. I recently saw (no pun intended) what looked like a magnet strip being used as a fence on a similar saw. Like the strong tool holding strips that Harbor Freight sells. I may try that! Assuming that the top of my saw isn’t aluminum? Hmmm maybe I should check that out first 😂👍

I have one of thses and like it,BUT,it doesn't give a square cut,the blade isn't perpendicular to the table. I made some shims from thin brass sheet,I haven't got it dialed in yet. this blade is carbide-tipped,and will cut 1/8" aluminum nicely. I made a large crosscut sled from hardboard that guides by the edges of the table top,it really makes a difference in cutting,but reduces blade hieght to about 25 mm. the rip fence was a PITA,so I made a T-square from angle aluminum and clamp it with a spring clamp. As this review said,the blade guard is worthless. I suppose you could 3-D print a flip-up guard like a regular table saw and attach it at the back,and include the riving knife for more safety. Paint mixing sticks make great push sticks. I also wish I had bought the 360W version,or they offered an upgrade kit of new 895 motor and 15A power supply.

@BoilerDan1
@BoilerDan1 3 года назад
I tried a 4” blade from another saw I have and it worked. The blade that the saw came with was a little under 4”. The round hole in the center is what’s important. Here’s what the manufacturer says about the blade size that will work: Compatible Saw Blade Bore Diameter: 16mm / 20mm   I found this one at Amazon and I think it will work but I haven’t tried it yet. 4"(110mm) Circular Saw Blade 60 Tooth Cutting Fine Finishing Table Saw Blades for Woodworking Rotary Tool with 3/5"(16mm) Arbor www.amazon.com/dp/B07SBTYW1M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_00HCME7GBPCRZXJEWF3D?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I don’t know about the belts but I would think that if you have the same size belt it would work? I’m guessing that you might be able to order replacements with a little research? If/when mine wear out I’ll check it out 😂 Thanks for watching 👍👍
