Miniature Railways of Great Britain Colne Valley M R

Railway two of our 221 mile round trip takes us to the Colne Valley M.R.
We have been before but the miniature railway has been changed and extended.
The site has a new car park also a brand new booking hall which is very impressive...No steam running today,Wednesday is the steam day on the miniature which is strange as you would think the weekend would be the time for steam.Never mind we still enjoyed our visit.
Many thanks to the guys for your welcome and help in making this video.
This is also a railway with extension plans...Good luck with that.

Looks like a very interesting miniature railway, never seen a tunnel made out of containers anywhere else as far as I can remember! Looks well set up there, plenty of space for future expansion - and some fascinating items on the adjacent standard gauge railway, they're doing some serious work there, the station building seems to be getting an extension.

The tunnel is different Dave they even have a curve in it as well lol! They plan on extending out from the level crossing around the field and back,that will cost as they will have to build up the ground..To me the standard gauge looked no different to when we visited many years ago,untidy! They need a good clear out of stock that's not used or storage....Regards Chris

I visited this railway a long time ago and the Merchant Navy looks in the same state then as now.They need cover to store the loco's and repair them in.Perhaps they will build a shed next to the miniature as it looks like they could be laying a track behind the station building down to where the miniature used to be.Plus a load of building blocks..I thought of you Graham while driving between railways,we couldn't have been far from each other.....Best wishes Chris.

@@wooltman Right there Chris , our own club is still locked down to members only otherwise you could have visted , even only a max of 6 of us allowed on site so not the same , i am hoping to go next week will be nice to get my video camera out !

The miniature is planning on extending out from the level crossing around the field and back.The standard gauge is as long as it will ever be.That has a lot of stock but nothing seems to get finished,they have a Merchant Navy out the back,that's still in the Barry state as it was on our last visit many years ago..The Railway needs some cover to do the repairs and store items..Plus a good clear out of stock that they don't use...Rant over!.....Best wishes Chris

Hi Dave.This Railway can be found just north of Braintree in Essex,not Huddersfield Dave.

Nice one Chris.....good you've finally been able to get out to railways to film for us all. I wonder if COVID-19 will continue to change how things are run at railways etc in the future.

If we didn't make the effort to travel to these tracks I don't think we would have seen any new ones this year.If you see how these railways run trains,perhaps Evers could do something similar!...I believe this Covid is not going to go away,so we have to live with it.If we don't, lot's of M.R will close.

Yes ! Please do come up . We currently run our mini rail and a dmu on a Sunday .

If you're interested there is a gala with quite a few varied visiting locos on the 14th and 15th May. At the moment the 14th May is set to have slightly more visiting than the 15th :)

have to get this out of my system. down by the station, early in the morning. see all the Miniature pufferbillys all in a row. poop poop , poop poop . off we go. nice little system

Can you do the Kingsbridge and District Light Railway?

Not heard of that one Jack,does it have any other name? Also where is it based? Also are they running now under the Covid rules? We would love to visit this railway

It is located in Kingsbridge, Devon. They have a Facebook page called Kingsbridge & District Light Railway Co. Not sure about opening times I believe it's open 12 - 5 on Saturdays and Sundays. (The last time I visited was around 3 weeks ago)

@@Jack-jh2to Thanks for that info Jack,I did look for it after i emailed you and found it on my lists of railways to ride.It should have been this year but sadly you know the reason why it cannot be done.Hopefully we could get down next year as we have a couple to ride in that area.....Many thanks Chris
