Brock, can you do a Minimalist Series on (1) Shoes (2) Jackets (3) Suits. What is the minimal "outfit" a man need to cover his life. I think you can do complete series on it.
The word "Khaki" comes from Hindi word "Khaakh" which basically means dust or soil and these type of pants were worn by the Cops and postmen (as uniforms) most of the time in India when it was ruled by the Brits.
One of the things I like most about your channel is that you show a lot of different outfits(they're all awesome btw). It helps a lot. Thank you and keep up the good work.
I have 6 pairs of denim jeans for rotation in a month or 2, i rarely wear trousers or slacks pants, though i have more than 20 pairs of jeans/chinos in my wardrobe.
Am a shorter man myself. Suggestion - would be really good to see a video with your tailor, going through the process of having your trousers hemmed in or fitted.
There are plenty of youtube videos about how to hem men's trousers (by men and/or women). You need to learn how to do 'slipstitch', which is for proper trousers, and barely shows if done well (jeans need machine stitching to look right). One reel of cotton, one sewing needle, one tape measure, and you're away...total cost, about £5
Outside of my suit (I never break up the jacket and pants), I could probably survive on just black jeans and dark wash jeans. If I worked in a more business casual environment, I'd likely add 2-3 pairs of trousers to that and call it a day.
In order:- 1. Beige/Sand Chinos 2. Blue Dark Wash Raw Jeans(Navy/Indigo) 3. Black/Grey Jeans 4. Light Grey Chinos(Better than you think!) I don't need to wear formal trousers yet.
Hi Brock, I must say You Rock!! Great videos and style tips...I really like how you show the dressed snapshots along the way...just spot on. keep up the great work n thanks for sharing.
I'm fine with 3 pairs lol. I guess it depends on lifestyle and events you have to attend. I have black chinos, grey chinos and jeans. Your 6 pair make perfect sense though.
For me it would be Navy Suit Trousers (with matching suit jacket), Charcoal Odd Trousers, Navy Chinos, Olive Green Chinos, Khaki Chinos and Dark Indigo Jeans.
I would love to see the maintenance cycle for the minimalist wardrobe, i.e. how often one should wear the clothing and how often the wardrobe is cleaned.
Hi Brock, I’ve been watching your videos and your posts in Instagram since few months ago, I can say I have exactly same taste and style as you. I always agree with all your color choice and style. Always enjoying your new posts, although I’m normally a quiet viewer :)
When I was a student, I totally could get by with 5 or 6 pairs of pants. 2 pair of jeans, one blue and one black. Corduroy pants in brown, blue or grey. Two pairs of chino, one in khaki color, the other in grey, or blue. And one pair of charcoal grey dress pants for the occasional semi formal event. Life is more complicated as an adult who still needs the casual pants, but also needs a wardrobe full of dress pants and suits, so instead of one pair of dress pants, make it 1 pair each in light grey, dark grey, blue, tan, taupe or olive, and black, in addition to the 5 casual pants. There you have it. My "minimalist" 10 pant collection, not including suits.
@@martintanz9098 at the moment i have blue + black jeans, tan and navy chinos and 2 tracksuit pants. However i go months at a time just wearing the blue jeans and track suit pants. So i have 6 (assuming we count tracksuit pants) by have no issues getting by with 2. You said not including suits. Note, while i owned 4 suits at one time in the past (when i wore them daily 4 work) i dont need them for work anymore and own zero of them now.
@@martintanz9098 yeah i am all for not being minimalist. Just naturally i have become so with pants thus last few years. For casual pants/ jeans and chinos (even though i haven't got them now or wear them) i would suggest similar to you. Yes on the black jeans but actually 3 x blue (dark, mid and light). Chinos in cream/white, tan, olive, light grey, dark grey, olive, navy. So i think i am suggesting even more chinos than you do Mid blue jeans are the ones you were non stop. Light blue great for summer. Dark important for matching with stuff and trying to be more dressy with jeans As for your chords choice. I would of said in tan, brown or olive
Of course tan or khaki chinos are the most versatile, & I used to like Navy & black chinos, but nowadays, those look like part of a uniform, so I've gone with olive & find I'm wearing them more than any other color. Medium gray chinos have become my 2nd go-to, even over the khaki... who knew?!
I use 3 pairs for 4 years now. I only buy one new when another one is unusable. 1 jeans for overall usage, 1 chino and 1 trousers for more social meetings.
Love your pant hangers that you’re using here. Where did you get them? Thanks also for putting these minimalist/capsule wardrobe videos together. So many great tips!
I had to laugh at the beginning of this video. You ask if the viewer has more than 6 pairs of pants, then say ‘probably, yes.’ Half the viewing audience is thinking ‘well, actually, I have about that.’ lol
I have 11 pairs of jeans that I wear. It makes putting outfits together a lot of fun. And that's not including Dress slacks, joggers, Chinos, etc. lol xD
Brilliant collection man. My preferred colour for chinos is navy. Brilliant colour really, very versatile. Your whole collection is awesome. Great video aswell
I have 7 pairs , 1navy and 1grey trousers ,1 pale blue jogger pants , khaki chinos, a black denim, 1 light grey joggers for running also 1 dark grey wool trousers . I spend more on outerwear/sweaters and accessories as Ireland is always cold
I have 2 chinos and mostly wear just 1 (navy)of them. So I feel like 6 is a lot. I would go with: dark grey wool slacks, navy, khaki and maroon chinos if I wanted to be really versatile. (not including suit)
I got over than 6 pairs of pants which are not useful, when buying clothes, I was fell in love with atmosphere of the clothes, not much wear at all... gotta try those pairs of pants...
aiden chino yeah! I have them too, it's the perfect fit and very nice fabric I also only have about 6 pairs, I think that is relatively enough for my working casual environment, minus the trousers. My go to is chinos and jeans..
if it is not too hot outside, I switch between two 14 oz. denims with one 18 oz. denim in addition for the cold days. I just cut off my old Levis and use them as shorts =)
Well I am only in high school, so black chinos and a sport coat does well. Although, I do want to soon get some suits, but no trousers. Sadly the reality of it is that I dont have the money to get them just yet
I have more than 20 pairs of pants and 6 pairs of them is about 90% of my wears. My 2 suit pants I have not worn them in 2 years since I'm not a suit guy. 6 pairs really is what is needed for the average joe.
They seem to stretch out a little bit with wear, but then again, these are "stretch skinny" so they have some stretch built into the fabric. I'm sure they'll last...they just won't age as well as other brands (like Nudie).
Good video but I would replace the navy colour chino with black jeans (solid or minimum fade black jeans). Very dark colours do not work very well on casual pants like chinos. Dark grey and navy looks better on formal dress wool trousers. Also, your khaki chinos on the video look more like light-stone-grey. Khaki has a bit more brown in its colour.
Great choices Brock. I've been more of a light wash jeans guy, I've heard good things about Mott & Bow, might give them a try for the solid dark denim. Nice shirt man.
Definitely, personally have 1 black pair of dress pants 1 darkish grey pair of dress pants 1 black pair of chinos 1 khaki pair of chinos 1 light grey pair of chinos 1 black pair of jeans 1 dark blue pair of jeans 1 modern wash (lighter blue) pair of jeans
The real minimalist is people who live on the street. They only got what on their body, dont have home, just sleep on piece of cardboard, shower maybe one a week and eat what other people give or collect from garbish. That real minimalist. We should respect them.
Really excited to rewatch a few of your older videos. I also noticed how I went from having just a few copies of the same old jeans sets as my trousers to many, many different types. I really do enjoy fashion by now which is something I never imagined myself doing. I just need a bigger warderobe.
Can't get away with six in Louisiana... too many sweaty days. I have a pair of pants for each day of the work week plus three pairs of jeans (black, dark, everyday beaters)... This does not include my two pairs of hiking pants that I keep boxed until I go hiking.
Im regretting myself that i bought a selvedge raw jeans. It seems cool at first. But the silly idea for not washing the jeans often and unforgiving nature of raw denim made me gave up to wear it. Now l, I just wanna have a comfortable strechy indigo jeans and planning to get rid off my selvedge ones
Wash them inside out, and if hanging on outside washing line, leave inside out until brought back indoors. Sun will bleach them. Don't use a 'brightening' soap powder, it has bleach in it, keep that one for whites only.
Hey Brock. Loving your videos. Keep it up. I’ll be posting from time to time if I can’t find answers through the videos and comments. Question: where do you get your jeans hemmed at...where they actually keep the original hem? The places around me cut it off and create their own which look funny. I’m 5’4 so I have to get everything tailored. Thank you!
