cigarette i'm smoking right now will take away 8 minutes of my life but this playing gives it back. And I got 2 more minutes more as a gift! Django, you will live forever!
Chapeau bas!
This is my favorite rendition of Minor Swing! I cannot play it without this chord pattern, it is burned into my memory as the only version that counts. Only problem... I have to keep finding it on RU-vid after 15 years, with so many new versions posted all the time. Thank you for this. Truly spectacular work.
First time I heared Minor Swing was in Mafia The Game, since then... Django in my ears an in my heart. He will never die! Hats off, 5 star video, great solos!
I have to agree with some of the other posts -- I've seen this a thousand times and I'm still not tired of it. These guys are so great. Bireli and Friends/Live a' Vienne is just plain riveting from start to finish, with top notch production values.
Awesome clip! Of all the great solos on display in this performance, I think Sylvain Luc's is the most exceptional. His use of chords in the ladder half of the solo is truly incredible! Thank you for posting this marvel of a clip!!
The first Dorado Schmitt then his son Samson Schmitt then Sylvain Luc then Stochelo Rosenberg then Angelo Debarre then Tchavolo Schmitt. On violin Martin Weiss (left handed)and Florin Niculescu. On accordeon Richard Galliano. Luckily I have met and heard most of them live !!!
Wouldve been great to be there. I wonder what the fuck I was doing, thinking, and emotion I had when this was going. What I'm saying is it feels so pointless to miss this. Haha damn "hey bassist, can you hold the rythem the whole time, and let everyone solo except you"
B.T.W. I recommend all of You to purchase the DVD Bireli Lagrene & Friends: Live Jazz á Vienne. I am sure it is to find on Amazon or similar. 3 hours of Gypsy Swing, this is the final tune!!
bireli started too soon and some guys didn't have their guitar with the correct tune and dorado was one of them. you can see bireli's face when the music started with dorado's solo
If it swings and uses "Jazz chords," it's Jazz. There is no doubt that this stuff swings HARD!! The genre term for this type of music is Manouche, aka "Gypsy Jazz" or "Gypsy Swing."
oulalaaaaah ! comment cest bien execute a la 7:26eme minute ! TROP FORT !

it depends, if you're more into soloing I think you should buy an "O" shaped hole guitar =) (the "D" shaped hole gives you a warmer sound) but the best thing you can do is try both types of holes and see which one you prefer... sorry for my english man Cheers from France !
