I am definitely not convincing anyone with such a stretchy lore theory. But i want to believe! The soulless demigods and Miquella are definitely some of the most interesting topics in the game, and Ensha definitely has some sort of relation to the haligtree (even if it's not the madness displayed here). So it was certainly fun to put this together at the very least.

Hope you guys enjoy! Next video we are gonna go on rampant DLC speculation, one of which is going to be based on the theory in this video.
@Writh811

I believe the Eclipse failed not simply because the prayers weren't enough but because Malenia failed. For a long time I kept wondering why Malenia fought Radahn and folks kept saying for his rune but everything about her shows a lack of personal ambition and she mostly just does whatever Miquella says. Then I realized the moon doesn't move... like the star. I believe Miquella dispatched Malenia to Caelid to try to get Radahn to relinquish his hold on the stars as it seems he also managed to grip the moon in that process. She fought her hardest and even unleashed the scarlot rot as a last resort but as we know, Radahn's grip on the heavens didn't loosen. It would be funny if as a "no one thought of it" kinda DLC situation if they make that Eclipse happen. Killing Radahn would be the DLC trigger. The moon is released and eclipses the sun. Fallen Demi-gods arise giving us more bosses to kill and Miquella awakens within his dream.
@Kosmos_er
@Kosmos_er Год назад
You are spoiling my next video! The only thing i would like to add is that it seems like the sun was the one they tried to move, not the moon. This is implied by an earlier version of the ghost's dialogue.

Frankly, a lot of people are familiar with this theory. But the fanbase argues the theory that Malenia went to Caelid to look for her brother because they are thinking Miquella and Malenia were innocent harmless people. If you say Miquella sent Malenia to Caelid to kill Radahn, they'll probably put you down.That's why most people don't talk about this theory.
@lacrima5571
@lacrima5571 Год назад
@@Kosmos_er I wonder if there are different suns in the game? Because even if we don't kill Radahn, the sun moves? Either the sun is no longer under Radahn's control because its power has weakened, or has Radahn conquered something else?
@Kosmos_er
@Kosmos_er Год назад
@@lacrima5571 The astronomy of ER make zero sense. The possibility of a second sun isn't crazy (could explain how the moon is always a crescent). And technically the sun doesn't move it's the planet that rotates :p (if we assume real world logic).
@rocki_bb
@rocki_bb Год назад
@@lacrima5571 so the planet we're on continuing to spin is why we still have night and day, but it no longer moves around the sun. Which would mean there haven't been any seasons since Radahn froze the stars, if the Lands Between even had seasons. The idea the world will enter autumn for the first time in centuries adds to the meaning of, "The falling leaves tell a story..."

This makes the most sense, compared to other theories on Ensha I've heard. If true, it enhances Miquella's story immensely. I always thought that the eclipse ritual didn't make sense for Godwyn, which left a big hole in the story. This proposition ties it all together quite neatly.

Agreed. I've always thought part of the lore about the mausoleums and the gargoyles was missing from the story. Given what we find in the Nameless City in the Deeproot Depths, I always assumed they were related to the Nox.

Wasn't there something about the Erdtree awarding the lands around it with prosperity as reward for people's engaging in mass war? I'd imagine that it does this because such somehow feeds it. Mayhaps Miquella, given his kindness, would not have wanted to fuel his tree that way, hence its stagnation.
@thetsarofall8666

That, combined with it being infected by scarlet rot + possible adverse affects from being fed by miquella's blood.
@NickCombs
@NickCombs 4 месяца назад
The Erdtree absorbed the runes of the dead through its roots and rebirthed the buried souls into new bodies grown upon its boughs. But only the most esteemed were granted this honor. The idea of fighting that bestows a reward in death comes from the older rituals of the Twinbird sages and deathbirds, which are more closely related to the Helphen (a tree that served as the candlelight guiding the wandering dead to their final resting place). Now, it could be argued that the Helphen could be the key to guiding those living in death from deathroot toward their true death, but it’s also clear that this point that the deathroot holds a far greater influence, if the Helphen is even around at all. Perhaps that is at least part of what the Haligtree was meant to become.

The only issue I see is that if Ensha was not only an ancient lord but the consort to a current demigod of great renown, how would his remains have ended up as armor? That would have been an incredibly reckless move, to arouse the ire of one who might become a god by making their lover/partner into clothing.

Not sure why these ideas and others are so ignored. Such as, malenia going to caleid to fight radahn so the eclipse could happen. I think that is the only theory that makes sense. I've seen a lot of radahn simps though, so maybe thats why. Radahn must be a good guy for some reason, not sure why. I came in definitely speculative, but I'm more convinced now. Ensha is definitely somewhat of a grey area in the lore so connecting him back to the soulless Demigods and the Haligtree with the natural progression of his actions definitely makes sense, though I don't know about him being Miquella's consort. I could definitely see this being expanded upon in the DLC. Though Gideon doesn't exactly say that Ensha acted on his own, rather than simply 'got ahead of himself' which could mean that it was Gideon's intent on Ensha attacking you, just not quite yet. Either way, this is definitely an interesting theory and I can see it having merit.

I think there are parts/nuances of the lore about Those Who Live in Death that are lost in translation in this localization. I think those who live on as spirits/souls without bodies would have been impacted by the solar eclipse and/or Godwyn regaining his soul. Or perhaps this spirit would have been released from his service at Castle Sol and been able to travel to the Haligtree if the eclipse had happened.

I've already watched Tarnished Archeologist's theory on Miquella and the hooded statues wielding staffs or needles. Great vid! I’ve never seen that connection be made before and it seems to have quite a bit of evidence supporting it. I love the more speculative theories. I’ve had a theory that’s a bit out there but I’m convinced might possibly be an origin for the flame of frenzy. So the frenzied flame appeared after the shattering right? What if as punishment for shattering the Elden ring, Marika had her eyes removed like they seem to have done with the prophets that foresaw the erd tree burning. And what if, because she was one with Radagon who was cursed by the flame of ruin that demands sacrifice to conjure it’s power, the sacrifice of her eyes brought in a combination of her guidance of grace and his curse of the flame. The frenzied flame seems to use eyes (or the lack there of) to harness it’s power. Hyetta only being able to see the guidance of the three fingers when she consumes them or the eye of frenzy on that tower being summoned by a group of cultists ripping their eyes out. Even the merchants appear to be blind in some way, so maybe it’s simply a lack of sight. The biggest point of support I have are Marika and Radagon’s soreseals and scarseals. They appear to be eyes and have the function of increasing strength at the sacrifice of damage resistance, which kind of fit’s into the flame of ruin’s sacrificial power. Other similarities as far as both flames having eye representation where the flame of ruin in the eye on the fire giant’s torso, the flame of frenzy seems to embody an empty black eye socket when summoned. They are also the only two flames that can burn the erd tree. I believe the frenzied flame could be a result of the combination of Marika’s guiding grace and Radagon’s curse being activated by the removal of their eyes. It’s a bit out there with not a lot of hard evidence, but I’m convinced that’s where the flame of frenzy comes from.

This video has been gripping me like none of the others on Miquella. My first reason for buying into the idea is that Miquella said he wanted a true death for his brother not to bring him back to life. However, to me, without your explanation there is almost no other point for Ensha's existence. Nor would his connection to the Halig tree make any sense. One last thing that I noticed is that there are also statues of a younger version of staff wielding Ensha with a cherub like character by his side. I could see that as a younger version of Ensha with Miquella. This statue is usually found on interior corners, close to the ceiling

Great theory! I always thought there was something wrong about my first impression that Gideon sicced Ensha upon us because Gideon actually wants us to find the Haligtree. Also the fact that Ensha's bones are golden should exclude him from being a mere tarnished as they were spurned by the grace of gold. He's a demigod, maybe of the Golden Lineage. Sounds very likely that his story will get expanded on in the DLC, maybe he'll even be a boss...

Came across a CRAZY theory with many parts. Can't say I agree with all of it, but one thing made a ton of sense; Miquella seemed motivated above all else to cure his, and his sisters' afflictions. I believe the Haligtree stopping its' growth is no accident. Miquella successfully passed his curse of never growing onto the Haligtree. The other thing to keep in mind when discussing Miquella is his insane intellect. I don't believe for a second that he wasn't able to anticipate the events that could derail his plans. If anything, I would be far more surprised if Miquella related DLC comes out, and it turns out the most simple explanations are true. This is Miyazaki, and G.R.R. Martin we're talking about here. No way it's simple.

I'm absolutely with you when it comes to keeping GRRM in mind. I think Miquella and Marika were trying to make the Haligtree something of a "separate" erdtree, one deprived of outer god influence. Part of my theory is Gideon's reaction to Miquella's kidnapping: "I suppose the queen's sorrow was justified." This phrasing makes me think the queen was Marika, and the thing that triggered the shattering of the Elden Ring, specifically, seems to have been the ruination of this ultimate plan and the vanishing of her son.

Not on the bones thing (I guess haha),but that Miquella's comrade would be his Lord. Now that we have the oficial DLC trailer we know that he was indeed looking for his Lord. We can agree that that's the Tarnished right?! What if he waited for someone who would be Lord, but Tarnished never went to Lands Between, at least not while Miquella was still there. Which was why he gave up on everything and went to the Lands of Shadow. That's crazy lol. Congratulations for this theory 👏🏼

One thing about Ensha is that he's on the cover art. Laying on the ground near Vyke. Jerren is also there. Did they try and slay a frenzied Vyke? What is happening in the box art? We know Vyke was closest out of qll champions to the elden lord position. Of course what we see as Jerren could be someone with the same armor but what about Ensha? Is it the same "person" we see in the roundtable hold? Enya calls Gideon "young" when she says the fi gers have as much for us as him. If he's young then he must not have been around during Vyke's time. So after what happened to Ensha on the cover art, someone must have taken the armor which is tough to say who... Ensha is kinda rude to us. Just like Gideon is. Maybe Gideon is the force that animates Ensha aka his "master". Like a puppet master. But then Ensha enforces his own will when he envades the roundtable hold. Just like you said using him like a dowsing rod. He also uses attractive gravity magic taught by alabaster lords who themselves are a mystery (but i think demi humans are their decendants). Once again I prefer your theories to Tarnished Arch even though he has a great theory ablut who the statue in Elphael is.

I am unsure about this whole Ensha theory, but a lot of things can be reasonably assumed for everything else: 1) Miquella wanted to use the Eclipse to reunite Godwyn's spirit with his body (perhaps this is the case for all of the Soulless Demigods, including Ensha) and perhaps this would also allow a method to stop the Outer Gods from influencing the physical realm (curing all ailments seen in the Demigods and humans such as the Omen curse, Scarlet Rot, etc). 2) Radahn halted the constellations due to his own beliefs in the Golden Order, so even the Moon itself was locked in stasis, making it impossible to accomplish Miquella's task. 3) Malenia was sent or went on her own accord to slay Radahn in order to fulfill Miquella's ambition. 4) Miquella imbedded himself into the Haligtree perhaps as a way to fertilize it and perhaps prepare himself for the journey after Malenia succeeds. 5) Mohg removing Miquella caused the Haligtree to eventually die... 6) Malenia's Scarlet Rot started to affect the dead/dying Haligtree due to her presence after her failed attempt to kill Radahn since the needle was broken and no longer inside her heart. She chose to remain and await Miquella's return since returning to Caelid and finishing Radahn off would serve no purpose. And I doubt leaving the Haligtree to search for Miquella would do any good since her presence alone would negatively impact the world via Scarlet Rot, and she would be leaving Elphael vulnerable. With some context in the DLC teaser, I believe Miquella wanted to open summon the spirit world (Helphen) into the physical realm during the Eclipse, and it is possible Godwyn would be able to manifest into a tree (due to his malformed body being imbedded in the roots of the Great/Erd Tree), and since the Erdtree is indestructible in the physical world, this would be a solid method to destroy it since Miquella and Godwyn would be interacting with it in a different realm entirely. Maybe Miquella didn't think Malenia could handle the Fire Giant and gain access to the Giant's Forge (or thought she would willingly sacrifice herself as Kindling), so this is an alternate solution that may change the final segment of the game. Lots of wishful thinking towards the end there, but i think it would be incredible.

One of more mysteries about Miquella, and the first enigmatic about Malenia is that we know FROM Ranni that Empyryans were bestowed a shadow as a companion, in the whole game we see BLAIDD Ranni's shadow, WHERE IS THE SHADOW OF MIQUELLA AND MALENIA in the whole game of they were truly EMPYREAN?

When dlc dropped, a poem was uploaded at the official page of the game. In it's last verse we read "It was to this land that Miquella departed. Divesting himself of his flesh, his strength, his lineage. Of all things Golden. And now Miquella awaits the return of his promised Lord" Divest =left behind, get rid of. That gives us the info that in order for Miquella to set foot at the land of shadow Miquella has to LEFT BEHIND HIM OR GET RID OF his flesh as Ranni did, HIS LINEAGE AS EMPYREAN AND CHOSEN TO ASCEND GODHOOD, his strength that means no more unalloyed gold and the power of dreams, AND ALL THINGS GOLDEN that means that Miquella OPPOSES THE GOLDEN ORDER TO ITS VERY CORE IN MANY WAYS.

I don't remember who put forth the theory, yet I remember someone putting forth a very compelling (and reasonably sensible theory) that since most of those who were Empyrean, including Marika, were female, that their need of a consort was for them to reproduce and form their own lineage. I mean, their consorts were male and seeing as how someone had put a spear of Destined Death thru her womb (or as close as possible to signal that it was her womb that was pierced) that they were keeping her from fulfilling her role of God and giving birth to her own lineage. I think it also does a good job of recontextualizing not only Ranni's "divesting of her Empyrean flesh" but also the reason for her unwillingness to go along with the Greater Will's plan for her to be a God. The only thing that throws this off is the fact that Miquella, although effeminate, was still male. What do you think about this idea?

Really strong argument, makes a lot of sense, which is really nice. But what makes me a little uncertain about Ensha is, why the fuck is he with Sir Gideon? Which is clearly a power hungry bastard. Simply obeying out of instinct sounds bad, specially since the game implies he was one of the people Gideon sent to slaughter the Albinaurics, which Miquella deeply cared for. If his "will" was strong enough to move an entire armor, why not go by himself to the Haligtree or even better, Moghwyn palace and rescue Miquella. I'll still stick to my gut feeling based on the despair Miquella seemed to be in, shooting in all directions to find a solutions to his problems (specially Malenia). I believe Godwyn would be the best candidate to become a Elden Lord, since he was meant to be the Elden Lord of the next generation. The possibility of bringing those who lost their souls back to life might have made Miquella change his plans (like when he ditched the Golden Order) and try to bring Godwyn back to life. Since his body is "alive" but lacks a souls, while Ensha is really really dead being only bones. Also my friend who's a Miquella fanatic started making connections with dreams and the land of the dead/afterlife. Since St.Trina's lillies and torch emanate a purple light like the Tibia Marineers and there's the whole thing with the Deathbed Dream. He even mentioned those statues with a person around the dead holding a staff, saying that is Miquella traveling the land of the dead. My friend with all his conviction says Miquella was trying to reach Godwyn in any way he could... And then Mogh happened.

Oh man if you want some controversial theories we should talk. I got a few. How is "Rennala is a puppet" this is not even a theory just a proper look at the situation. Rennala HAS to be dead because we get her Remembrance. Which means that HAS to be a puppet we fight. Phase 2 of the boss fight is Ranni using a Spirit Summon of Rennala. (Again, that means she is dead and cremated) Plus Ranni's full moon spell specifically says its the "Carian Queen's" spell. If Ranni is Queen, then Rennala has to he dead. Imo her bare feet and extra long neck, and constant floating makes me believe she hung herself. Thats speculation though. All that is guaranteed is she is dead and we fight a puppet. Anyway. If you like it feel free to use it. And that one is mild. If you want my "Godwyn is a rapist" theory hit me up. That one is a bit more... Complex

@@numbah1525 sure. First, are you a Berserk Fan? One major piece of evidence is predicated on a subtle Berserk reference so it helps of you are. Secondly, I would ask that you watch the Zullie the Witch video about The Dung Eater. She explains how Dungeater is stealing souls via sexual assualt... More or less. Basically, your soul is in your butthole lol... Of course Fromsoft isnt going to say EXACTLY what is happening, because thay would earn them an M rating... So they are subtle about it. Okay with that out of the way... Its all about Castle Sol and what went down there. The NPC Ghosts lay the scene. Miquella and "his friend" (Godwyn, already being refered to as The Prince of Death) are there to take the soul of the Demigod of Castle Sol. The Walking Mausoleum (being tombs of Demigods) allows us to draw the conclusion that they must have succeeded. Why else would there be a Mausoleum there? The Eclipse Shotel is the Berserk Reference and the crux of the theory. It reads - "Storied sword and treasure of Castle Sol that depicts an eclipsed sun drained of color. One of the legendary armaments. In Sol, the sight of an eclipse inspires a dreadful awe, preventing an onlooker from averting his gaze." The second part is the Berserk reference. To be brief, In the Manga the bad guy causes an eclipse. Then he has demons hold down the hero and forces the hero to watch as the bad guy rapes the good guys girlfriend. With that in mind, reread that second paragraph. That is how Fromsoft tells us that Godwyn raped the Castle Sol demigod. Thats the quick version. There is more to it obviously. There always is.

So long shot here but I believe the reason the Haligtree has stopped growing is that it now has Miquela's curse. I also believe The Tarnished of no Renown is the reincarnation of Miquela. Similar to what happens with Irina and Hyette or Yura and Shabriri. I think that's why Torrent chose the player. That's why NPCs around the Lands Between are willing to help the player and aren't able to say why they are helping. That's my crazy theory!

I will have to disagree about Malenia not being the one who afflelected the rot which she did, which we have to remember that Gideon even said hinself that he would be surprised if Malenia hasnt been devoured by the rot, which she was going to be but used the Haliqtree to at least recover. Recovering from the rot that is though she is part od another problem. Miquella, he is the main part of the Haliqtree, without him, the tree is but a husk and consumed by the rot of Malenia which to me is tragic. Great video however! I really wish you a great day!

If this is true, I find kinda of hilarious that the femboy shota was the first to get hitched out of the three empyreans 😂 Also, if Miquella was willing to make such a convoluted ritual just to bring Ensha back, it shows that (at the time) he was irreplaceable and I can see why. Divine consorts seem to need to share and support the vision and order of their empyreans, explaining why Marika divorced Godfrey when his strength was no longer needed and she needed a husband faithful to the Golden Order thanks to the lost of the physical erdtree. Miquella needed a consort who would look after the low, meek and lost, and it seems at the time only Ensha was empathic enough for the albinaurics and misbegotten like him, so it was Ensha or nobody. It would also add another layer as to why Mogh's plans were doomed to failure, he and Miquella couldn't even be less in sync. And now that the player killed Ensha for good, and Mogh is out of the picture, if the tarnished proves they share on Miquella's ideals, they are ripe consort material! 👍

I think “bad” is the wrong description. Closet thing to Bad in Elden Ring I would say is the dung eater. He wants nothing but ruin. Miquella is An enigmatic figure. @rocki_bb
@rocki_bb Год назад
@@demonbasher23 I agree with Abraham and Kosomos on this. Even Malenia says her brother is the strongest demigod, and Gideon is afraid he'll wake up. Miquella reminds me of Griffith! It may end up being that what Mohg has done to him is what pushes Miquella all the way to "mad god," but it's his ability to bewitch and inspire devotion that makes him the most dangerous! Have you ever seen what happens to a butterfly when its cocoon is cut open? If it survives, it's a pathetic, flightless thing. Imagine that happening to a god.

@@rocki_bb there's just too many instances of him doing good. Compared to evil imo. Granted Melania does say he's the most fearsome emperyean of all. However His core goals aren't evil so I cannot label him as such, writing a pray for godwyn and creating the sword for godwyn. Essentially making a home for the forlorn. And by what gowry says about the needle he created, along the lines of "understands the true essence of life, a true craftsmen", inspiring loyalty and devotion isn't inherently evil either. How do you know other demigods where slain the night of the Black Knives? We are clearly told only Ranni and Godwyn were killed. I think the Mausoleum demigods are far more ancient than that time, they must have died before the rune of death was removed by Marika from the Elden Ring.
@spartanaman44
@spartanaman44 Год назад
Nah because we are told by Roger that Godwyn's death was the first time ever recorded in history that a Demi God or God died
@golDroger88
@golDroger88 Год назад
@@spartanaman44 That is impossible because the rune of death was once part of the Elden Ring. What Rogier meant was no demigod died after the rune of death was removed. Keep in mind the timeline of the game is incredibly stretched out, the rune of death was removed from the Elden Rings ages before the time of the game and before that there was an equally long period of time from the period before the Elden Beast arrived in the Lands Between and spread the order of the Greater Will and the moment Marika removed the rune of death from the Elden Ring. This means that most likely either there are no accounts of the most ancient periods at all or Rogier is possibly not aware of the older events anyway.
@Kosmos_er
@Kosmos_er Год назад
Indeed ranni and godwyn were the first, there are multiple references to many dying during the night of knife. And the soulless demigods are called children of marika. Additionally the mausoleum knights followed their masters in death and all use golden order gear, the only difference is their banner, like how every army has a different crest. There a lot of other things that show that they died during/after the night of knife. It's one of more clear cut things in the lore.
@golDroger88
@golDroger88 Год назад
@@Kosmos_er What is the source for other demigods dying during the night of the Black Knives? Marika and the Golden Order have been a thing for a very long time. They were already a thing before she removed the rune of death from the Elden Ring. Yes, the soulless demigods of the mausoleums are Marika's offspring but that doesn't say anything about the moment of their death, she's been around for eons.

Rogier and the intro cinematic narrator say godwyn was the first to die implying more did die. The story cinematic has ranni also say "the demigods began to fall and godwyn the golden was the first to die" again implying many died. The official website lore introduction to the game says "One grim night in the depths of winter, a flock of unknown assassins stole across the Lands Between. In a coetaneous attack, this foul covenant snuffed out the lives of many of the God-Queen’s kin throughout the empire, too numerous and too scattered for her godly protection to save."

@Terminalsanity
@Terminalsanity Год назад
@@Kosmos_er Its not just possible, its hard to see it any other way had they been imprisoned there at the least the Albanaurics would be trying to take shots at the Black Knife Assassins as they attack you but they don't because they're definitely guarding the seal for Miquella with the Albanaurics . There's no real indication that all the Soulless Demigods were slain on the Night of Black Knives most seemed to have been killed in the ensuing chaos and fighting in the shattering. I think the implications of the Black Knife Assassins guarding the seal in Ordinia are pretty clear either one faction of Black Knife Assassins sided with Miquella sometime after the Night of Black Knives or and I do believe this the most like scenario: The Black Knife Assassins were working for Miquella the entire time and the Night of Black Knives was his doing. Think about it, we know that Miquella became disillusioned with the Golden Order before the Night of Black knives and the shattering, and wanted to establish his own order that means the Golden Order had to go down first. Miquella knew better than anyone his father Radagon would not suffer a rival to the Golden Order so he set into motion a plan to bring down the Golden Order and with his powers of persuasion and the Black Knife Assassins being scions on the eternal cities, had a pretty deep and longstanding grudge against Marika,Golden Order, and the Greater will would be petty onboard with backing Miquella as their lord of Night after an age of failures and defeat. I think Miquella even got the Black Knife Assassins to rope Ranni into the conspiracy under false pretenses with the Black Knife Assassins letting her believe that Radahn would be the target not Godwyn. Thus with Godwyn Slain in Radahn's place Ranni's fate remained suspended and she was effectively eliminated as Rival to Miquella as she was the only Empyrean that could/can replace Marika that was not loyal to him. That also explains why shortly after the Night of Black Knives Ranni locked up the leader of the Black Knife, Alecto in the Evergaol on the Moonlight alter and why the Black Knife Assassins attack Blaidd at Ranni's Rise in an effort to get to Ranni then slay Iji only after Ranni has successfully slain her 2 fingers and is finally in a position again to replace Marika. I think Miquella public mourning of Godwyn was all a ruse to deflect suspicion and even gather more followers and support. I don't believe Miquella is benevolent as he made himself to seem. I think he's really a Griffith from Berserk-esque figure between having a Woman as a sworn sword, an uncanny ability to inspire adoration/loyalty, his connection to an eclipse, being cocoon surrounded by blood as he under goes a metamorphisis, even having a creepy older man obsessed with him trying have his way with him all lines up with Griffith.
