What if one of them cheats without any reason or cause? I don't think that's the responsibility of the other person

absolutely. Well said!

If one person is loose and always cheating, it will be impossible for them to completely hide their conduct (in a normal relationship) so that would one persons fault and the others responsibility to stay or go But for those that have always been faithful then begin to cheat, the wise saying still applies that it is not one person's fault but both of their responsibility In a faithful relationship, cheating generally begins because they are not keeping the flame alive and cherishing the other with meaningful affection, conversation, and those early relationship attentions

A lot of people rely on their physical, human self and not on their spiritual self. So so true! Thank you Ms. Iyanla!
@tiddlywinks8299

It's really difficult to be in a relationship with a man who is unable to admit his fears and faults. It's even more difficult to try and ride that out, in hopes that he will get passed them, as he incessantly blames and projects onto you. Constantly being on the defensive in a relationship is very damaging to the spirit. Women cannot continue to be held responsible for the imbalance that this behavior brings to a relationship, nor can we continue to be expected to mitigate it. Yes... I've had some bad run-ins! Can you tell? LOL
@ShadowsMasquerade
@ShadowsMasquerade 7 лет назад
Well... you are responsible for accepting such a man in the first place (why did you? that's an important question) and he is responsible for his behavior. Those men lack self-awareness, there are tons of women who do too... you cannot outperform your level of self-esteem and you'll accept what you're willing to put up with. So in conclusion, that's being in the 'wrong relationship'. Take care of yourself.

It’s hard alright. Though a man in his 20s is not the same in his 30s, 40s, or 50s in terms of maturity, intellect, and abilities not to mention confidence and experience. So, life sometimes is like a box of chocolates, it is short. Best of luck to each one of us whichever journey we decide to make.

MsGntlebrzz you are so Right however some women dont have the guts to respect the truth weather it will hurt them or not. Its hard to find a women that will let a man know that they respect and aporeciate the truth. Instead some of them will just do more nagging than respecting the truth itself.

so true! because we learn real love from God as we self improve and follow principles and not our wild feelings (= we become less selfish) Mankind without God is like and employee without a boss and understanding of his duty. (if there is no boss with guidance we shouldn't really be surprised when the employee fails)

Your response to the woman was EXCELENT! Numbers 1 and 2, most women eventually figure out. Number 3, is something I've never heard anyone say before. It "blew me away"! This is what BM should be telling other BM. It's what fathers should be telling their sons. This advice is the best ever. I only hope men accept it.

You hit the nail on the head with that 3rd one. God and spirituality provide you with a set of principles from which accountability stems from. Such a major point. Plus you don't have to wait for him to tell you, you can SEE it by the way he lives his life. Ego-centered or grounded in God? Thanks Iyanla!

Thanks Iyanla! I also think a lot of men are busy riding their ego ( I believe you did mention the ego ) and they are not humble. A lot could be worked through if they had more humility. I suppose that can go for both sexes but the man supposed to take the lead as the head but they are too busy being proud and defensive. Shame really.

well my blessed dear sister, once again your discernment triumphed and edified my heart and mind ; as the Lord continues to funnel down knowledge to and through you to open up closed minds and to educate-empower your disciples and others that we may learn a new technique of communication to our partners by way of creating understanding in order to maximise a peaceful harmonious loving relationship. Iyanla vanzant I have been your biggest fan and I hope to meet you one day. they fail to tell the truth Men attempt to hide their feelings or experiences of inadequacy and insecurity with acting tough,they talk rough,they talk loud and avoid difficulties,they blame and project and they make you wrong very often because they are afraid to say; iam scared,i cant,i dont know how.The real does not cover up his weaknesses Limiting and denying his spiritual self,while attempting to rely totally on his physical and his human self

Oh, you just described my covert narcissist ex. I had to leave, I'm devastated. I'm an empath and learned the hard way about narcissism and the attraction to empaths. I learned pushing back, standing up for myself fueled him. I wasn't hard boundaried. I have a lot of healing of trauma to do. He doesn't have any spiritual practice you said they will turn to their ego without it. It makes so much sense now. The hurt..oh my. :(

Thank you Iyanla. I️ struggle deeply with number 1. I️ was raised by an unloving Father that I️ was afraid to tell the truth to for very valid reasons. I️ then married a woman very similar to him... brilliant! It reinforced that I️ was “never good enough.” It’s so entrenched. She always beat me down emotionally and had to “keep me in my place.” She had at least three long term affairs. I️ am now divorced. My faith got me through it. I’m closer to God than ever. However I️ struggle to trust people. I️ have a woman in my life I️ love deeply. She loves me for who I️ truly am. She pushes me to always be open and honest. I️ want to be. I️ still struggle though. I️ don’t want to be this way. I️ pray. I️ try. I️ still find myself terrified to upset her. In my core I’m terrified she won’t like me or love me if I️ tell the truth. I️ haven’t done anything large to lie about. I️ tend to omit things, or polish the truth. What do I️ do??? Help! I️ love her and want to be the best man I️ can be for her. She’s amazing.
