Is it more acceptable now for a Thai woman to marry a foreigner or is it being discouraged by Thai families?
There is a Thai phrase “luk kreung” which translates to “half children” or half Thai, they are multinational children in Thailand.
Thirty years ago, children of Thai and non-Asian parents were looked upon with suspicion, the product of wartime relationships between American GI’s and "loose" Thai women or today people call them working girls or bar girls.
Back then, the assumption of Thais who saw a foreigner with a Thai woman was that the foreigner was a soldier and the Thai was a working girl.
But this rapidly industrializing nation has developed a taste for things Western, and stigmas are falling away. Many luk kreung with Western looks are today enjoying unprecedented success.

I'm half Thai/half white my father was in the US Air Force in the mid 70's. Obviously he met a Thai girl "my mom" she became pregnant very quickly therefore he brought her back to the USA where I was born in 75. I grew up in southern Virginia and at that time I was the only Asian or mixed kid until 6th grade. Needless to say I had a very very hard time. I love my looks I wouldn't change anything!! Also being bullied in school for being Eurasian made me tough and who I am today. EurAsian Hillbilly

So am I. Except for my dad married my mother and brought her back stateside after he was done in Vietnam. He met her in Thailand during R&R. Statistically speaking, I would have been left there. I was one of the lucky ones...I think. Brandishing that stereotype in the U.S. since 1971 was never easy though...trust me...she treated my brother and I like her meal ticket, except since I was a girl, I was the expendable one. Glad to say I came out for the better, both my brother and I. We don't speak to my bio mother at all anymore. She's' toxic and is doing time in prison for drug charges in Florida. What goes around comes around.

Those were difficult years during the war and personalities were formed just trying to survive. Perhaps give her a call and some love. Even if she rejects you she will love you for it in her heart.

I'm Luk Khrueng born in the USA. My dad was an Air Force officer and B-52 pilot and met my mom when he was stationed at U Tapao AB during the Vietnam War. I speak a little Thai but can understand what my mom says in Thai and English. I think I broke some Asian stereotypes in the States when I got involved with football and wrestling in high school. I suck at playing piano and most musical instruments except the kazoo. Math and science bored the shit out of me.

I am look khrueng Thai Chinese Swedish who was born in Sweden. My father met my mum when she lived in Lampang. I don’t know anything about being Swedish ...only Thai and Chinese and I am proud of how my mum brought me up

I am half Thai. Ever since I was born there everyone called me luk farang because I have fair skin and i dont look thai at all, it felt weird. everyone asking me, can you speak Spanish? and i was like no, i was born here. but thank god we moved to spain. i dont have this kind of problem anymore.

I was born in Europe but I don't speak Thai or a little, but I look pretty good at an Asian(Sometimes they say that I look like a Mexican or an Arab), it's annoying because people often ask me if I speak Thai «You speak asian ? » (I know this people there are a little stupid)and when I am in Thailand they speak to me in Thai,So i understand you,They call me farang too because I don't speak Thai Sorry if my english suck (・∀・)

This is a global issue. The online/international community consist of just the western nations, Japan, and Korea. Every other cultures and people are perceived as inferior so women go for more dominant male from more dominant cultures. Simple. This phenomenon will disrupt every other cultures fyi. Not just Thailand but most countries. Any mixed race on avg is more superior to any one race. No one is pure race but a mixed race has superior genes on avg, they tend to look better and be healthier as well than coming from one ethnicity.

I met a few half and half in Thailand. Mostly you can tell if you are familiar. Some are difficult to tell that are mixed. But in general, I would have to say the hardest part is having a stimulating conversation with a Thai lady. She would have to be fluent in English, educated and or educated in the West.
