I remember an Oriole getting ejected one night for hardly any reason and Jim Palmer commented ''umpires need to understand that fans don't come to watch them.''
I was a high school basketball official in southern Ohio. If we (High School Officials) were that much of a crybaby every time somebody didn’t like something we called the benches would be full and no more player available by halftime. I have watched so many professional baseball umpires being overly sensitive crybabies and tossing players and coaches for nothing. Why aren’t they held to a higher standard than amateur referees? Pathetic crybabies. Baseball officials are the WORST. They ruin the game.
@@Bayley4ever Ok; however; u took my comment WAY OUT OF CONTEXT!!!!! Hunter's Harry's BROTHER (NOT HIS SON)!!!!! Nvrthlss; the Wendelstedts r definitely SCUMBAGS!!!!!:@ least we seem 2 agree on THAT 1!!!!!
@@Bayley4ever Nah; really? If u REALLY READ my comment; we r actually in lockstep w/each other RE: how shitty the Wendelstedts (Harry & Hunter) actually r. Again; they r BROTHERS (NOT FATHER & SON).
@@detmstr341You have no idea if that's true. How do you know he didn't turn back around and tell the ump to f off? Bob Davidson had a hair-trigger temper his whole career, but it's obvious Miller said a magic word when he turned back around.
@@HealeyBrianT Bob's nick name was bullet Bob. He would've thrown you out just for sneezing. He has a major power trip. That's why I was glad he retired a few seasons ago.
They follow players off the field aggressively and then if the player turns and smiles they throw them out.. ump union is perfect demonstration on why unions shouldnt exist in most industries.. "your bad at your job? and you have a awful atitude? PROMOTED.." like gee how could that go wrong
And this is why umpires should no longer have the privilege to eject people. All ejections from now on should have to come from MLB Central, who will be continuously monitoring all games live.
That's a terrible idea. Umpires have every right to not tolerate constant arguing especially when a player or coach is told to stop. And every time someone is "walking away", they usually throw out a magic word or two, which is the real and justified reason a player gets tossed.
@@HealeyBrianT What part of "continuously monitoring" is confusing you? If the player does or says something, MLB Central will know it within 2 seconds.
@@HealeyBrianT used to be part of the game, if anything they need their balls broke a little more, maybe cut down on the sh$t calls a little more, this is a big boys game, or at least it used to be...................................
These umpires have way too much power to eject people. MLB had better start doing something about this or people are going to turn on them and get rid of umpires and use computers to run the show.
Should an ejection be reviewable if an umpire ejects a player or manager MLB can decide if it's right. And how long before a player or manager takes a swing at Angel Hernandez & knocks him out
The newest Jomboy video shows Boone getting ejected; for something a fan said. The Umpire straight up says “I don’t care,” when everyone is telling him Boone said nothing. There’s video that clearly shows Boone not saying anything, and the fan that did yell “Let’s go home plate.” Not even that bad a jeer. Umpires need to be challenged.
@@lambert581I would hate for that to happen but then the league office would have to do something and remove him from MLB. However the player would probably get a lifetime ban from MLB.
What would make this more interesting. 🤔 If a player ready to retire levels a bad ump making bad calls, and operating on his feels. Yes there would be repercussions. But it would be worth it.
On the first one, I don't think Bautista was the one thrown out, it was the manager who was letting Hernandez have it. Hernandez should be in prison for all the money he's stolen from MLB.
I used to umpire Little League Baseball games, the kids were between 8-12 years old. The difficulty level obviously does not compare to Major League Baseball, but the basic operating principles abide. I was in high school, and even then I knew that nobody was at those games to see me. I put it like this: if nobody remembers me after the game, odds are I did my job well. Let the players decide how the game’s gonna go, I just oversee the process and let them play without me butting in any more than I absolutely have to. If I could figure that out at the age of 15, there’s no goddamn excuse for these grown ass men to not know that
This is how people behave when they know they can’t be fired…if you don’t like the way umpires do their jobs, thank their union and MLB for agreeing to the union’s terms. When it comes time for the next collective bargaining agreement between MLB and the umpires union, MLB should take a firm stance and not yields an inch. Bring in minor league umpires and college umpires. There is absolutely no way they could be worse than what we have now.
all started when umps got the ability to toss fans for clean words, prior to this bad call and he got rode like zoro for the rest of the game, very few shit calls back then to include ejects
The last one was slightly justified, the umpire let him have his say, umpire told him to get back in the box and play, he proceeded to get into the box and keep yapping. All the others are pretty brutal
Don Mattingly got tossed so much over the years. His was the only one that seemed old school. the rest were kind of crazy. I guess the rule has always been arguing balls and strikes is against the rules, now Umps are using a zero tolerance policy.
The rules are very clear and explicit that arguing balls and strikes is not tolerated, and failure to stop arguing once told to do so is grounds for an immediate ejection.
@@HealeyBrianT My point. Years ago you could shake your head or get mad, but now it looks like a zero tolerance no show of emotion. Maybe umps are tired of spending an hour arguing over a call, so walk away and don't even think about saying a word. LOL
I am done with Angelel Hernandez, seriously, most sensitive ump I ever seen, he's ridiculous, if someone looks back to you doesn't mean throw him out of game, unless he adjuster towards you, these umpires needs classes
Why is baseball the only sport where a player, coach, or manager can attack an umpire verbally? Even the thugs in the NBA, NHL, and NFL don't get that kind of leeway. Make your comment and shut your pie hole or take your ejection. OK, just watched the video - some of these are ridiculous yes, but there's also a lot of history between some of these players who mouth off constantly. Aaron Boone gets run if he just blinks these days because he has a reputation of being a dick to umpires. If you don't F bomb the ump or draw a line in the dirt, you can make a comment and get your point across without being run. I played 25 years and I was never run.
part of the game, just like fighting is to hockey, leave your feelings in the clubhouse, big boys game or at lease it used to be..........................................
I used to shit on umps all the time until I umped myself. You get shit all game constantly from both sides. Neither team tells you the truth. Everyone tries to fool you. You’re everyone’s villain. Now I understand why these umps can have such a quick fuse.
So, it's like every other line of work. Cry me a river. I've worker both retail and tech support. People whined at me all the time and I *never* had a "quick fuse".
So what? I've worked retail, idiot customers constantly run their mouths. It's part of the job. if you can't handle people carping at you, go find a line of work where you can work from home and have no human interaction.
