Tyra: "Health of a model, especially one of my girls, is a top priority." *Also Tyra: Creative Director of a photo shoot in a swimming pool so cold that Caridee showed signs of hypothermia.*
And they also send girls in a shoot when they have to dive in the ocean while one girl had an eardrum issue and another was afraid of water and none of them had diving experience. On top of that, many professional divers that commented on this shoot’s video that it was very dangerous.
“They knew what they were doing” Tashi is so right, these photoshoots are always so humiliating and degrading, and somehow they always manage to involve the models personal life or make a reference to a trauma or experience the model has had. And all for ratings and shock value.
@@THEMODELGENE Yes because they have time to find photographers, get props, set up an entire photoshoot while signing contracts with photographers 1 day after they know about their trauma.
@@addkeifspsdcvl i heard from videos of previous models that they have interviews where they would’ve told things like this. and the judges use it against them later
Former makeup artist here… when this first came out I was OBSESSED with this photo shoot. I actually got to recreate it/do something as part of a drug awareness campaign…. But it was a specific campaign and everyone knew what they signed up for and nothing was actually gross/dirty just a set. Rewatching this I’m so 🤢🤢
See I can appreciate a theme like this more if it's for awareness. But top model did photoshoots like this, and even worse like pics of girls modeling like they have an eating disorder or have just drug overdosed. Really tasteless themes if they're not doing anything to help those issues.
Difference between you and ANTM is your set was made up 1) for a purpose not shock value and 2) the models’ safety being ACTUALLY important. I have more respect for the real set designers that do that rather than these.
I chuckled when he went "It can be a little much"... Oh, so you guys want THEM to feel uncomfortable, the moment when someone brings up what really goes around these types of scenes and YOU get uncomfortable, that's not ok anymore, uh? It was well deserved.
I find it horribly ironic that they are going on a speech about a possible ED when this photoshoot included a concept in which a girl had to pretend she’s vomiting into a toilet, which is extremely triggering to people with actual EDs. This show just doesn’t know when to stop.
"victoria was a little too much" tyra pretended to have rabies on her talk show and fake passed out on antm... when a model poses they tell them to act not pose, when a model acts they say its too much
As a N.Y. based photographer, I just have to say that I would never work for a show like ANTM! The Whole premise of this show is bogus, I think its Designed to make the model look ridiculous; and the situations that they are put in, sets them up to fail! And I don't think that Tyra Banks was ever put into any of these scenarios during her career! 😵😲😬
theres been a few times where she has similar pics but theyre so obviously different from what the actual models went through. so much more chill and safe than on the show
I’m told the set is clean and a cockroach runs across where my nose was 2 seconds ago?? I’m calling OSHA, the health department, my mom, their mom, the president. It would cure my phone anxiety
it would be cool if thats what they signed up for and wanted to do but it really feels like just barely borderline sexual exploitation. i love the style but 🤢
Nah, fetish photoshoots tend to be more aesthetically pleasing *always* have pounds of proof informed consent, sterile and the other two "S"s ANTM lacks - *Safe and Sane.* My work in photography as well as knowing quite a few in the community and my background in Psychology with the subspecialty in Human Sexuality and Gender Studies has made *real* "fetish photoshoots" something that I am rather well acquainted with. --- This situation is more accurately compared to documenting abuse for later gratification.
@@nohomo4774 You have no reading comprehension. I literally listed my credentials and the differences between the two. I don't teach kindergarten (nor is the subject age-appropriate) so I cannot rephrase what I already said in a fashion more clearly defined so you can keep up. Honestly, you rephrased my last sentence to say "hey you're wrong and gross because (same statement made in comment arguing with only with zero awareness)." All I can say is just re-read what I wrote earlier there's no point in saying anything else.
I feel like the model with the milk may have realized this was about humiliation. Love the model that just made a whole character! She knows what this show is about lol
Tyra: "Health of a model, especially one of my girls, is a top priority." *Also an artcle of antm: '''America's Next Top Model contestants claim show put girls' 'lives on the line ... and was starved and deprived of water for hours.''*
About Victoria: she did not had an e.d., it was a combination of her not liking the food, the schedule of the meals and how stressed she was. She was very upset about the accusations of her having e.d. because she felt it was disrespectful to people that actually have e.d. and the timing of how they brought it up...
The editing made it look so much worse then it was. Was she losing weight, yes but for the reasons you said. I was giving Elise vibes when Victoria finally came out and said she did not have and ED. I hate when they try to diagnose people. Like some people need help like the one girl (I can’t remember her name or cycle) that had an ED and then went home because of it. This show was awful for those reasons (but did I still watch it. Yes 😅😅)
@@melaniejohnson.4810 oh yeah i also remember Amanda was telling everyone else that she either had ED/feels like shes having it/had a history with it....which was rlly uncomfortable to watch LOL
@@ohandthefracking she had a history and told Amanda. Amanda then told everyone and it blew up because they drama. They then sent her home pretty soon after. I think that’s the one that Tyra done a whole clip with her mom talking about how guilty she felt for not helping them. (It was either Cassie or Annmarie)
Dude the milk one just made me SO uncomfortable, like the set was all men and they’re cheering her on getting visibly excited because she’s pouring milk all down her face and actually choking. You can here the photographer get all hot and bothered just EXPLAINING it. And after they all cheer while he’s like “oh my god” over and over just so satisfied and you can tell she’s upset. Sounds like he used this poor model for his own fetish 🤢 that was so gross to watch
Right? And the shot of the girl licking the floor, telling her to arch her butt up more in front of a group of dudes watching her writhe on the ground in trash... what are we doing here
@@joanneking170 I hope I’m not being dramatic that’s just how it made me feel! None of the other photo shoots felt like the men were getting hot and bothered and cheering it on
!!! I thought that was just me bcoz I recently watched a docu on men that are 'feeders' ( a fetish) to their overweight partners and there was literally a scene like this.
Why do I feel like Tashi would be a fierce, fan fave contestant...that gets sent home early for being too real lmao Her comments are hilarious! She's giving Jade, Louise, Bre vibes and I love it 😭🗣
Tyra really reminds me of my old skating coach. i’d stop to get some water and she’d be like “go back out and skate! back in my day we skated from 7am to 7pm with no breaks” like girl u didn’t go to school or anything? they rlly be exaggerating everything they can
yeah...I mean I've checked and to be a coach in any sport you need to at least have High School diploma...and some like courses done bc it's y'know TEACHING. She'd have to cut some of that 12 hour time for actually doing school and homework. You're right, this is a tactic to shame people into behaving the way the person wants them to. and they also want to make it seem like they're better than everyone.
tbh she doesn't seem like she'd be the most welcoming on set, or if she is then it's all fake and seeing the "real" her would be different when one turns the other way. Her whole attitude it very, "idc who you are, idc why im here. i won't bother to learn your name." very "i hate my job" and nobody wants to be on set with someone fake or someone who doesn't feel excited about the creative. Everybody comes together to work on a shoot and you have that one person who's makes it seem like you're lucky they're there, despite them getting a paycheck
Laughing in the first minute already 😂 "We're going to put you in situations where you're uncomfortable or caught off guard." "Well isn't that what they always do on every photo shoot for ANTM?"
Oof. "We're just worried about her health" is one of the most triggering, angering phrases. You are not worried about her health, you are being judgemental.
I think this concept COULD have worked in a grungy way. There’s a photo series by Maya Fuhr called ‘garbage Girls’ which photographed women in their own messy rooms and feels to me like it neither judges or celebrates the girls’ trash, but it does let them be present in the photo and kind of own their spaces. The cover of Mitski’s album ‘Retired from Sad, New Career in Business’ also has a vibe they could’ve gone for. But apart from the usual consent issues, I think it’s worrying how almost all the setups had the girls be very passive; passed out, almost passed out, choked by milk, not drunkenly partying and revelling in their own trashiness but so drunk they were barely conscious or aware of their decisions. They took the girls agency out of the photos.
Tashi does makes a good point. Tyra do tend to purposely choose bad photos of model because she doesn't like them. For ex: Eugena (Cycle 7) and Alisha (Cycle 18).
What? Tyra actually wanted alisha to win bcs she keeps saving her from the bottom two so many times. That's why Alisha quit bcs she knows it was rigged
@@muhammadzikri8492 Yeah, but can you imagine the toll of your mental health where you keep being in the bottom 2 so many times, thinking you might go home and put so much effort to to produce good photos each week. It's like this emotional rollercoaster where you're up and down constantly. That's the reason why she quit because of her mental health. She found out later on she was a preselect winner from one of the producers.
I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to eat my breakfast while watching this video 🤢🤮. That is so nasty! The first girl definitely had it the "easiest" lol.
The one where she lost her shiiii and yelled, "We were all routing for you!!" was definitely a genuine emotional reaction. Lol one she didn't mean to come out I'm sure.
Not even 1 min in & the guy introducing the photo shoot is awful. 0:44 "I know you guys are tired, dirty, & stinky, but we're going to exploit that." What is wrong with this show?! 😮
I love a lot of ANTMs photo concepts but that’s because it’s less about fashion and more about art and conception, which is what I do as an artist. I think that was the issue with the show (likely deliberate) that I agree with Jessica about in her videos. They can’t really use a lot of their photos for a portfolio for clients that wants simple shots that show you can sell a product and pull off high fashion. I do think some girls like Allison may have used that to their advantage to do more artistic, non-fashion work now, but the show doesn’t set them up for anything else unless they learn to sell themselves, because they’re more worried about entertainment for a show than their careers getting started, whether they win or not.
I bet she was sick afterwards. 🤒🤢💯 She put Sprite on the floor to lick it with that stale pizza. I bet that cockroach crawled all over that area beforehand.
Ahh I love tashi! I love all of her photos/modeling. to see the both of you together in this video makes me happy. You guys are so funny together and her insight on modeling is great! I would love to see her in a future video with you again😄
I laughed through the whole shoot - it was weird and trashy though I felt really bad for the girl on the floor and the girl who had to pour all the milk on herself. The judging panel was horrible as usual.
That opening scene with her licking the floor just took me back to jeffree Star MySpace era and the iconic fruit loop and milk spilled on the floor. Blast from the past omg.
Jessica please do episode 5 cycle 11 where the girls pose in water with their eyes above the surface OR episode 4 from the same cycle where they have a swimsuit shoot at the beach in Malibu. Both shoots ended up with great photos!
This is an awful photoshoot. Yuck! Shout out to Tashi and her sass. 😄Edit: And the judging part and the put downs… it’s was an awful season. At least, we got Leila as a shining star.
I loved this reaction, your friend is so beautiful. Please react to nude photoshoot from Cycle 1, or the shoot with Ice Cream from cycle 8 where one of the models get her hand frozen.
Please bring back Tashi she was great. And someone below mentioned that Cycles 19-21 all the eliminated models did all the shoots as well (the Comeback seasons) and all the pics were released prior to the show to include fan votes. Can you react to the eliminated photos fas well?
I almost wonder if one of the models did bring up the eating concerns off camera and the producers had Tyra ask about it during the judging so they could use it for the show
At first I thought, _"Maybe Tyra Banks was being REAL"_ (even tho she didn't drop any tear), but then I saw that moment again and she was _"I was a big girl with a big butt... that just... try harder"_ and there you got it, making it ALL ABOUT HERSELF AGAIN...
That's why she was crying tho. Cuz it was about her 😅 she was always the curvier model and that was probably hard for her. She wouldn't cry over someone elses struggles tho! She just always feels sorry for herself
@@grantmegan91 It's funny 'cause whatever the contestants go through Tyra has an anecdote, such as _"I know what it is to be [blank] 'cause when I was 14 I only booked 20 runway shows out of 21, in Paris, and it was devastating, so I know how you feel"_
@@grantmegan91 was Tyra really considered curvy? That's kind of crazy. Obviously during the Tyra Bank show years she gained some weight but young Tyra was very, very slim.
@@mothturtle7897it’s crazy to think but after her first 3 years modeling she wasn’t being used because she developed bigger breast and butt. then she sign with victoria secrets but she was no longer considered a high fashion model anymore
Idk I think an artsy photoshoot like this is pretty sick still. Like there is definitely a market for shoots like this. Not every photo has to serve a purpose. I think the problem is more so the models don't have a real choice - it's do the shoot or get out. But ... idk by this point, you do know what kind of shoots you're in for. I think the real problem with ANTM is the behavior and controversy of the show runners, not really the shoots themselves.
@@MkUltraViolet Bruh, not always. Anything could be a market for a fetish if you reach hard enough. Literal shoe commercials and hand models could be used for fetish markets. But sometimes things can just be art. I don't have a fetish for any of this stuff, but this is cool art.
Okaaaaaay? Like, what magazine would this even be in???? And for what purpose? Some of these shoots were just for the show. Nothing else. I don't even get this.
Victoria... Oh, Victoria. So sheltered, so exploited, so co-dependent on her mother... She was treated so poorly by everyone. I think she was on the show only for entertainment even though she really needed some help working through things.
Ah yes, all the different poses and expressions you can make while pouring down 5 gallons of milk all over your face. Great concept. Edit: The judging panel was just a shitshow.
