I love how they point out that Kang has literally destroyed billions of people along with killing the avengers multiple times, yet he loses in a fist fight to a Baskin Robbins employee.

The fact that Janet was so vague not wanting to tell hank and hope saying “there’s no time. You just have to trust me” there was literally all the time in the world.

I have to admit, I was terrified when Kang said he had 500 million power on Rise of Kingdoms but then got even MORE terrified when Hank said he had 900 Million power and used the Ant Colony with a 20% boost in colonizing and Intelligence. Truly an epic moment that I will definitely remember forever.😌😌😌

Can we talk about how kangs guards were the absolute equivalent of storm troopers in terms of just about everything

Charlie could say anything about this movie but his tone would still make it sound like he fell asleep in the movie theater

The scene where they showed modok’s ass was truly peak cinema

“You lost because we beat you” no really these writes are genius

I think Charlie should keep a spoilers talk section at the end, so that people who've seen the movies can come back and listen to what he had to say about the spoiler related stuff.

After leaving the theater about 30 minutes ago, I can confidently say that this movie was one of the goofiest movies I have ever seen. I think my brain is on 400 ping rn because I can barely even think after what I just saw

I had the exact opposite effect on Kang the Conqueror. If anything, this movie was the first one that I felt should have presented him as a legitimate threat, but ended up making him feel like that annoying returning villain in video games that keeps popping up to harass the players, when the player just wants to move on. The things he said about his experiences and how much power and influence he has, and the way he was ultimately defeated with such ease only served to give the impression of a weak wet towel of a villain. The end credits also didn't really do any better of a job, introducing other Kangs that all looked like complete jokes.

It's not an underwhelming movie, but certainly whelming.

I loved it when Kang the Conqueror failed to Conquer an Ant Army. Truly a Thanos-level Threat.

There was a point in the movie where there were ants walking in the background and the animation just stopped rendering the ants walking and they froze in the background.

That scene where MODOK said to Kang "it's MODOK-ing time" was truly brillian in cinematic universe. That's how u write a good villain

When they shows off MODOK's face for the first time in the theatre I went to watch the film at, the entire theatre erupted in a very audible laughter. It was absolutely hilarious. I do admire their attempt for trying to accurately adapt the comic counterpart, but man the VFX definitely needed more time. It's ironic how one of the main plot points of the film is Kang wanting to grant Janet more time, and yet Marvel Studios refuses to do the same for its VFX hires.

It's pretty telling how I've seen about every Marvel movie once roughly at the time each came out, and I still remember the older ones much more clearly than the more recent ones.

I loved when they where BOTH huge and Scott says “I feel like I’m hugging Godzilla” yah logic checks out.

I actually really liked the first 2. This felt like a fever dream, like if you made AI watch Marvel movies and then have it make its own. I enjoyed some of the scenes as “so bad its good” like almost every scene with Modok, the one where they eat the squid alive and then it becomes big and eats them. Or the one where they’re huge and hug each other and talk about food… Listing them out like that, it also does sound like a fever dream. There definitelly are memorable and even enjoyable parts, just the movie as a whole is a mess. As someone who is a fan of surrealism, I like fever dream movies. I understand though that might not be the case for most people.

Love how Marvel writing went from: serious, to still serious with some humor sprinkled in, to good to see the writers for Friends found work again.

You are absolutley right, the VFX industry is famously overworked and underpaid, and there has been a big push to unionize recently because of how poorly the editors and VFX studios are treated. There are too many ridiculous examples where big movie studios literally refused to pay VFX companies for their work, or gave them unbelievably short deadlines.

Am I the only one who was laughing out loud at the post credit scene? The pharaoh Kang? 🤣 my goodness it looked like a Halloween costume. The council of kang looked goofy!!

I think it’s an achievement in a way that every single review I’ve seen of this have all been exactly the same. It’s like the world all collectively came together on this one, “Kang good, rest of movie bad, right we got it”.

Having the special kang that all the others are afraid of get defeated by ants in his first appearance completely undercuts the threat of any other kang that might show up

I mean when every scene is 90% CGI, and you have to make 2 movies or shows a year, can't really blame the vfx team for slipping up. Honestly commendable they've kept up this well.

That ending killed me. I was thinking, but this is the "good" Kang. Then Antman said, "Wait, was that a good Kang? Are there even worse Kangs?... Oh well, movies over."

My biggest gripe was i thought the movie was going to hold way more weight when it came to setting up the next phase but honestly outside of that 1 post credit scene literally nothing really happened. It just felt like they were back to the same position they were at the start of the movie.

Majors’ Kang had such a strong screen presence and was so legitimately threatening at first that I was starting to think this would be a decent film. So you can imagine my delight by the end as he just sorta hopelessly watches as big scott fcks sht up like he can’t teleport outside and end him in a second, and how his energy blasts, which were just ATOMIZING people, just kind of pushes the main characters pretty far, oh and how the sight of ants makes him “kind of forget” to use his powers. I’m suspending my disbelief to have fun watching very small people battle for the fate of the multiverse, but please writers, at least try to make is make a bit of sense within your own context.

I think that Charlie should make a version of the moist meter where he talks about spoilers, or at least movies he's passionate about just so we can get more iconic lines from him

I think the movie needed to be another 40 minutes or so long, because you can tell a lot of likely important stuff got cut out. I wasn’t expecting them to go very deep into Kang’s abilities or motivations, since that’s what phase 5 and 6 are meant to do as a whole. Loki Season 2 will probably do some more heavy lifting when it comes to Kang

By the way this movie is written, this makes Shang-Chi beyond a Thanos-level threat

Kang being aware that Marvel hasn’t been good since Endgame and saying “I Kang’t do this anymore” before leaving the movie was the best scene since the last Marvel movie.

Charlie showing godslap at the end is the most emotion I ever seen from him

My favorite the part of the movie, although the "damn" the henchman gave after Quaz reads his mind and gets the bridge code got an audible laugh out of me, was the teaser for Loki season 2 in the 2nd credits scene

Man I really wish Charlie had a spoiler section on his moist meters, because for people that have seen the movie really would like to hear his opinion explained further, myself included. Maybe at the end of the video?

The hardest laugh my friends and I had in the movie was hearing the guy behind us snoring.

Modok was cool for like 5 seconds when he comes in just effortlessly killing the villagers. I was really hoping he’d be an even more angered and heartless murder than he was in the first any man

Best part was when Jschlatt was on the machine gun for like 10 seconds before dying.

I also couldn't help, but noticed about the amount of "helmet on & helmet off" with Antman, Wasp, Cassie, & Kang throughout the movie

Loved how when the camera stopped shaking at the end, ant man started shaking like a mad man

The fact that the trailers spoiled basically the entire movie is pretty upsetting, too. It’s not a new thing for trailers to do that nowadays, but so little happened in this movie that it makes it that much worse

The most joy I got out of quantumania was getting excited for Rama Tut, immortus and the super kang reveal as the post credits scene. And I let out a very Owen Wilson “wow” near the end of ya catch my drift

MODOK's face reveal was awesome, my brother extremely audibly went "EUUGHH" in disgust when that helmet flipped up lmfao

My only issue with Kang was how he became a pushover when Scott and Hope came to fight him at the end. Dude was controlling everyone with his tech, telekinesis shit and all that, and he was DISINTEGRATING PEOPLE left right and center. Then Scott and Hope show up and, well, he can't disintegrate anyone? He can't manipulate anymore? It's like playing a fighting game and suddenly forgetting all of the inputs of the character you're playing. I mean, if it showed that his suit was running out of power or something I would understand but it did not show that, so he just became a pushover by the end. Also a nitpick I have is how often they remove their helmets. Like, can you keep them on for more than 10 seconds without taking them off? I dunno it's just super distracting for me, and also kinda sucks for the team that put time into making the costumes see that a specific and crucial part of their work is just glossed over. Edit: people for the love of God I am talking about the moment before the ants showed up for crying out loud. How difficult is it for you to understand? Holy shit you are dense. And why do you bring up the part that he needed them to get the core? What part of "fight at the end" do you not understand?

bruh this movie just reminds me how much Avatar the way of Water is just beyond everything I have ever seen of CGI. MCU needs to take points and maybe only release 1 movie a year like damn

I almost went to see Quantumania recently, but instead I went to see Puss In Boots: The Last Wish One of the best decisions I have ever made because holy shit it was amazing!

The fact that Ant-Man gave the ants superpowers to defeat Khang. Truly a Marvel movie

I just like that it connects with Loki, and follows the Quantum dimensions from the New Dr Strange.

It's not over worked, it's that they save the big budgets for the big movies and it ruins everything... we don't just want badass looking finale movies, we want all of it.

Best part was when that one girl asked the conqueror “who’s coming” and his reply was “I am…. A lot”

Modok and the Loki after credits scene are the best things to come out of this movie

I feel like one of the main issues with Quantumania is that from the start it probably wasn't meant to be the kick-off point for the new phase, So they wanted to make a specific movie but then because they also wanted to make it more. My theory is that the original plot had Modok (with the same backstory) as the main villain, with Kang being the "shadowy mastermind behind the whole thing" revealed at the end. But then the higher ups were like, "Nah we did that with Thanos already let's have Kang be the main villain." so they just rewrote the whole script to fit the "grander phase design". Multiverse of Madness had similar issues. Originaly Wanda wasn't supposed to be the main villain. But because one of the script writers or something saw that they were building up to Wanda becoming a villain he wanted to make that movie so he fundamentally altered the movie to steal Wanda as a villain from a future movie, with no real plan on how to make Multiverse of Madness good with evil Wanda.

I think people are just tired of the marvel formula. because to be honest, i didnt think this film was much different to any other recent marvel movies. As you said, i don't think its bad, or good.. its just in the middle. It's literally no different to the other films, and im a bit confused to why anyone is acting like its any different.

I liked the first movie. I thought it was going to be boring because of the name, but it turned out pretty cool, especially when he shrunk himself and in the beginning, he was working at Baskin-Robbins.

This film is definitely different in terms of tone from the first 2 films, it feels like everything was actually on the line. Scott drowning in his own variants was very claustrophobic and him getting brutally beaten by Kang actually made you doubt for a moment that Scott was gonna make it out alive. The fact that Scott still had a feeling that the threat was still lingering at the end of the film when he questioned his own choices really made me feel uneasy.

Ant-Man 3 is truly one of the ant movies of all time

I took edibles before I saw this movie and reached my peak level of high right as MODOK is revealed and it was a beautiful moment. I giggled for like 10 minutes straight, and then I started thinking about him filming his scenes and giggled some more. 10/10 would recommend this experience

I found Kang very intimidating up until the last 3rd of the movie

Seeing that scene where Scott and his daughter were running through an active war zone was such a sensory overload. I thought I was gonna have a seizure, it was so jarring 😵‍💫

So the deal with MODOK is that in the comics, he get made fun of all the time. However, he was still the leader of AIM, an super genius, and-as his name entails-designed for killing. He’s a fairly heavy hitter in the comics.

Charlie should start uploading 2 moist meters with one being a generalized review like this and the other being spoiler heavy. Or adding spoiler segments at the end with a warning beforehand. Along with this movie, there have been other moist meter reviews where I wanted to hear his opinion on very spoiler heavy points in the movie

Please for the love of god have a spoiler section in the moist meter videos so you can be more specific with your reviews and talk deeper about the media you cover. I think it would make such a great addition to these reviews and flesh out your thoughts better

Charlie's tone in any emotions he have is only one, which is so cool.

(SPOILERS) Modok does usually get laughed at by characters like Thor, Spider-Man, Iron-Man, etc in everything he shows up in, he’s just a really goofy looking character. But some versions of him are insanely intelligent and powerful. But 99% of the time he just gets clowned on. Also the MCU Modok has a completely different origin story and identity than the standard Modok. It’s not Darren Cross/Yellow Jacket. If anything I’m glad they didn’t try to make Modok cool. Instead they embraced his weirdness.

Ant-Man and the Wasp had a lot of heart. Loved the focus on family and the idea of second chances.

Id describe Modok as a punching bag with spikes on it? Like he's for sure the butt of a lot of jokes cause he just looks like that but he's also powerful enough to be taken seriously when he gets serious. Like, ironman will make fun of him the whole time but they still call iron man himself for Modok, ya know?

VFX is rarely bad because of skill and experience from the studio handling it. It's usually time and budget constraints.

I enjoyed this, this is the avengers one lead up style film of the kang dynasty.

i work at a movie theater and every time a big movie comes out a lot of the employees go to see it to “preview it” and make sure it works. i was there that night watching it in 3d and got sick and just left. i went back with some friends to watch it again tonight in 2d and it was much better but still a mid movie
